Would WWE pull something like this off?

Been having a think about this one all day at work and I thought I'd put this theory, however unlikely, but yet could be possible to happen.

CM Punk, MITB, faces his second "monster", Umaga, in a month on PPV and not being for the briefcase, which is open to say he can lose. Now everyone is expecting Punk to cash in at JD in Chicago. Now this is where a swerve possibility could come in.

If Umaga was to win against Punk in his hometown, what's to stop him stealing the case and cashing in MITB himself? And winning the World Heavyweight Championship?

I mean, he's meant to an animal with sense of morals or disregard for the rules but could be an opportunity to turn him big. He's solid in the ring and is capable of holding out the role. The only thing that sets him back as Champion is not having a manager to speak on his behalf (unless he starts talking normally at one point). I think Umaga's suffered alt from the injuries which have cost him pushes, much like Kennedy. But this would be something of a swerve and give the extra touch to Umaga as a character. Plus we haven't a guy of his build win the title since....Yokozuna? The timing is perfect with the Main Event crew only having Jericho and Edge for heels atm.

Just an idea, but would like to know your opinions.

I think it would be a nice surprise, but I couldn't see it happening. Umaga, like you mentioned, is injured, injured a lot. He just got back into the swing of things. Would you really want to risk a title reign right now with the chance he gets injured again? Obviously anyone can get injured with the belt, but Umaga has been less durable than most. I would like to see Umaga hold the belt sometime, but there's no way he'd pull it off right now.

I agree......the only way that Umaga should have ever MAYBE been champion was when he first came into the scene and was built up as an unbeatable monster.

Besides, my hope is that CM Punk will be the first to cash in the briefcase and lose.

Umaga has more Charisma than Khali

and i also agree that Umaga gets way too injured right now to be considered for a title push. However I do see him holding the title in the future. He could be an incredible champion. I mean when was the last time anyone saw a guy his size FLY off the top rope with a body splash onto a downed opponent? The last super heavyweight I saw fly like him was/is Kane/ Taker. But even they don't utilize their size in the way Umaga does.

Will that happen. No. But would that be great. Yes. Umaga is a good heel and is only lacking a manager. If he can get a great manager he would be a great champion. CM Punk will not be cashing it at Judgment day because more or likely he will lose and will have no push heading into this.

I doubt Vince would throw us a swerve like that. His head is too far up his ass to realize that's the shit he needs to pull off to get us interested again. To be honest, I don't think Umaga's character is capable of cashing it in. He doesn't speak a word of English, and I'm pretty sure all he wants to do is beat the crap out of everyone. If Umaga stole the briefcase and cashed it in, the WWE would owe us all a big explanation the next Friday telling us how Umaga understood what the briefcase meant. Besides, CM Punk is somebody the WWE loves to push, and Umaga is clearly an injury liability, so that briefcase is not going anywhere on Judgment Day.

I hate to burst your bubble and I'm not trying to single ya out BUT Umaga does speak fluent English. In fact there was a point on SD! where he was going to start cutting promos to shock people. Vince pulled the idea because they figured it would take away from his "savage" appeal. But FTR Umaga speaks fluent English.

I know that Eddie Fatu speaks fluent English, I'm pretty sure he did when he was Jamal in 3 minute warning, but UMAGA does not. Unless creative decides to change the character, I don't think Umaga isn't going to be speaking any English anytime soon, let alone being able to realize what the briefcase does.

i def like that idea. it would keep fans on there toes and would make the fans have to think. i dont think it would ever work. a champion has to be able to cut a promo and draw fans. look at orton/edge they can cut a great promo and make people hate them. umaga has never said a word.... sorry he did have that moment on raw awhile back but talked in samoan. he also isnt a draw for fans to come to shows. edge and orton both can draw a crowd because they have talent.

No, this make absolutely no sense at all right now or in the future. Unless, Umamga undergoes a massive change in character I don't see this likely. Rather I would like to see Punk tap Umaga out at JD. Most of you probably think that is nonsensical since it would tarnish Umaga's "savage" character. Some of you need to break from Vince's lame attempts at beyond believable wrestling characters.

Punk needs this win against Umaga, and honestly this may be a match of the night. Both of these men can wrestle, and wrestle well. At some point I would think that the WWE wants to handle Punk's MITB match properly. It would make sense for him to go about the right way since he is a face. Then again if they want to turn him "heel" the story goes a little differently. However I don't see the WWE using this as an oppurtunity to turn Punk heel. Punk could be the fresh "face" that they have been looking for. I would like to see him use the title honestly, and not like an "Opportunists", that is getting stale already.

If Punk were to lose to Umaga he would lose his momentum that he has got going. They are making Punk the face of Smackdown, even though I do not think he is ready to be the face of either Raw or Smackdown. I think somehow he needs to lose his when he cashes in the MITB because no one would expect it. Let's face it, when everyone has cashed it in they have won and since he is the first back-to-back winner they need to do something different. Let me lose and have to chase the title and once he finally wins it, then give him a good run where he can be a true title holder and give us a fresh face from Edge winning it. I would even say at that point Edge should go away from the title hunt for awhile to make him fresh too.

i agree with Baldjedi Edge needs to go away. One thing if the WWE thinks about it MVP is feuding with Legacy. put him and that US title on the line against Rhodes at JD I mean you wont see it because it should have happen on Monday night instead of Orton and MVP. maybe the WWE needs to take edge and put the IC title on him or have him few with Y@J after he takes it from Rey to give that belt some credit

Why in the blue hell (to borrow a phrase) would you want to do this? Punk has great momentum and is twice the wrestler and 5 times the talker that Umaga or even Fatu is. I can't wait until the E gives him a mic... Punk could out-promo Edge IMO. He has all this momentum at the moment, the last thing we need is Umaga beating him, stealing his briefcase and cashing in to become champion. For the shock value?? Yeah, that's what the WWE needs.. another band-aid to attract viewers for one week! They have much bigger issues to contend with.

It would he funnier than hell for Umaga to get the MINB case and cash it in and speak perfect english...It would be a hell of alot better that fat joe and this broken cock shairpie.
