Would this gimmick work in the WWE?

Now i dont know if it has happened before but ill say it anyways.i was thinking today about how festus is like a ****** outside the ring but when the bell rings he turns.well i thought of something similar,how about a guy that is a babyface outside the rings but when he starts a match he turns into an absolutely hated heel.but when the match is over he turns babyface again.

I think it could work if they find the right person.this is a gimmick that is not meant to be slapped on anybody it has to be on someone who has enough talent and good promo skills to be able to pull it off.

So would this gimmick work in the WWE? If yes what wrestler could pull it off?

Sounds kind of like the old Waylon Mercy gimmick to me. His character was a gentle sould, very zen-Buddhist in philosophy, until the match started and then he would beat the crap out of whatever jobber was in front of him. It didn't really work in my opinion.

He got injured back I believe, that character was nearing the end of the whole wild characters from the 91-95 period, I always thought there was more that Dan could of done with Waylon Mercy, I doubt a major world title push but I could of seen him engage some decent feuds had he not of been injured.

so do you mean a character that professes babyface ideals while employing heel tactics? or a guy who is a face but works matches as a heel? because the first is the current incarnation of jericho someone who claims to be pure and honest while still being a despised heel, and the second was eddie guerrero during his biggest run. if you mean something like what happens with festus, well we already have festus.

Angle was like that early in his run as well.

He was over-the-top good. Did the right thing and kind of in your face about it.

Like thelegendspiller said isn't that what Eddie was in his biggest run. A Face but was like a heel in his match.

If so then it would work that way as it did for Eddie but what other ways are they to be talked about here.

The wrestler would come out and try and slap hands with the fans, smile, pose, whatever and act like a face, then as soon as the match starts he snaps and becomes a crazed heel, and when the match is over he is a face again....can the OP clarify I want to know what you are actually talking about...

This is the one the poster above you is right to.

What wrestlers can get fans to cheer him when he is coming out but when the bell rings he acts like a heel but whent the match is over he can get the fans to cheer him once again after just being booed in the match.

If you are having this much trouble just coming up with a working idea, then how are the fans going to understand what's going on? I kind of thought about Jack Swagger a little bit, coming out all nice, smiles all around, cocky (but what wrestler isn't), and then doing whatever ot takes (pulling off turnbuckles, etc.) to get the win. I think that, like Swagger, the fans care more about what goes on in the ring, and aren't going to really care about the wreslter's actions on the ramp or in the locker room. It would take one hell of a performer to really pull this rabbit out of his hat.
