Would anyone want to see a WWF: One Night Stand?

I don't like this idea at all. First of all, what would they call it? ECW and WCW were two completely different companies that were bought out by WWE, stripped down, and eventually cast away. The WWF and the WWE are the exact same company that had to have a name change because of a lawsuit... And why would you just feature old wrestlers from the 80s on this WWF One Night Stand? The 90s and most of the Attitude Era was a part of the WWF reign. But, product and name aside, the idea itself just sounds bad...

Maybe they aren't all in bad shape, but most of them aren't in good enough shape to get back in the ring without having some serious issues afterwards. Ricky Steamboat and Ric Flair are honestly two of the only old legends still around that can perform well in the ring. Jake "the Snake" Roberts is pretty out of shape, and a lot of the others aren't even recognized by the fans today. Do you really think anybody who would order that PPV gives a damn about Slaughter or IRS? Not to mention that in order to build it up you would have to take the focus off all of the great athletes the WWE is trying to currently build into future legends. At least for ECW One Night Stand you got a bunch of guys who are getting up there in age, but could still pull off some really solid hardcore wrestling. Sabu, Dreamer, Sandman, Tazz, Funk, Foley, and the gang were definitely not as agile as they used to be, but there's no denying that they could still pull of hardcore wrestling. But really, how difficult is it? You're asking people who were huge 30 years ago to go out there and pull of a TECHNICAL wrestling match on WWE PPV...it's just not going to work. It would be cool and nostalgic to see Macho Man and the Warrior in the ring again, but it wouldn't be good wrestling. You want to bring them back, use them to build future stars for tomorrow...

Or you could just take Mark Madden's new approach and let WWE fail, in order to bring a rebirth to the wrestling industry...

Well a One Night Stand of the old WWF Legends wrestling each other wouldn't really do anything special. WWE wouldn't devote the time to allow these guys another moment of the spotlight unless it benefited the younger guys like Nexus. What you could do is maybe put the younger guys like Nexus against some of the WWE Legends, but that would be too bad and predictable.

Chris Jericho fighting Piper, Snuka, and Steamboat at WrestleMania 25 was atrocious because Steamboat was the only one that could still go in the ring.

Lets look at the list:

-"Macho Man" Randy Savage
-The Ultimate Warrior
-"Rowdy" Roddy Piper
-"The Million Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase
-Brutus "The Barber" Beefcake
-Jake "The Snake" Roberts
-Sgt. Slaughter
-Tito Santana
-The Honky Tonk Man
-I.R.S.

Randy Savage may make an appearance with WWE soon since he is aprt of a merchandising deal, but I don't think we can expect to wrestle a match anytime soon.

Ultimate Warrior may be in the Hall of Fame, but he is another guy that I wouldn't expect to see in the ring.

Piper still wrestles and makes appearances in WWE, but Piper has been embarrassed enough in the WWE over the past decade.

Beefcake is with Hogan so I doubt you would see him there unless Hogan came with him. There is no reason to hire Beefcake for anything.

Slaughter is in the same boat as IRS Mike Rotunda. They appear every now and then with the the legends such as Steamboat, Jerry Lawler, Arn Anderson, and Micheal Hayes on Raw. They don't have much left to give in the ring and even if they did, I wouldn't put a whole PPV around them.

I don't know what Tito is doing now, but it seems like him and Ted Dibiase have long since retired from the wrestling business. As far as Honky Tonk Man, no one wants to see him in the ring either.

I'm a huge fan of 80's wrestling as well, but this is 2010. A lot of these guys are way past their prime. WWE is in a new era that focuses only on young new talent and less on the men that paved the way.

As far as comparing this to the TNA ECW One Night Stand, it doesn't need to be done either. One thing you can say about the ECW guys are that at least some of them can still wrestle. There are some that are years past their prime, but at least they aren't 20 years past their prime.

When the hottest storyline in WWE is about young rookies taking over. It doesn't make sense to have a PPV where the old guys take over for a night. Unless the young guys come out and destroy them like they did to the WWE legends on Raw a few weeks ago.

Uh no at least with ECW you are talking about guys from the 90s. WWF guys are 80s so 25-30 years ago almost. Some are psychically incapable of wrestling(MDM) others are in such sad shape (Jake and Piper).
Bring them out if you must for a one off comedy match or give them another old timers battle royal but not a whole pay per view. It would make WWECW December to Disremember look like Wrestlemaina in comparsion

I sincerely doubt that we would ever see a WWF One Night Stand. For starters, WWE does not have legal authority to even say the letters, "W-W-F" in the same breath.

Secondly, like most have said in this thread, these guys are too old. They are way passed their prime and even if they were physically able to make it to the ring, not many would care. Sure, we all see these guys as worthy Legends that marked their place in history, but that was over 15 years ago.

A good example of this would be Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair (I know they are in TNA but im proving a point). Most of us that know wrestling know that this is an Epic match. But only if it were at the very least 10 years ago. It's safe to say that I can speak for most when I say, "No one wants to see these guys fight again in TNA". Same goes for (EXAMPLE) Piper vs. Savage. If this were (again) at least 10 yrs ago, maybe I would have wanted to see it. But seeing Piper and Savage fight at this point in time, that is a big no no.

A WWF One Night Stand should not happen; It would be a disaster. WWE is doing a good job on maintaining the idea to focus on the "future" of the business and not the past (very much unlike TNA). But nevertheless the "fantasy" in me would have wanted to see these guys once more in the ring (in their prime ofcourse).

ECW one night stand was a great Pay-per-view. It was a lot of fun, and a lot of in your face action. It was really something different. A good loyal fan base. WWF, was an entertainment powerhouse. Yes, there was some good wrestling matches, but most of the characters were created for entertainment purposes.

The Honky Tonky man was decent in the ring, but you didn't see him jump off a 30 foot ledge during his prime. No, his gimmick was smashing guitars, and stirring up heat. (I'm sure the Honky Tonk man wasn't on the list but I thought it was a good example)

ECW was something different. It really pushed the back-yard wrestling issue in the media world. Amazing wrestling from start to finish. Matches that no one ever heard of, brought to life. Not also that, but a religious fan-base that, well Macho Man, nor the Warrior could ever achieve.

To bring these guys out of retirement, and have them do a One night stand would be pretty cool if it was a county fair event. But, as for a pay-per-view. Well, I just couldn't do it.

I'm with the majority here that say it would not work. Most if not all those guys have no business wrestling on a major PPV. Were talking almost 20 years since most of them were relevant. A legend is occasionally brought into the WWE for a match, but a whole PPV would be horrible.

Everyone is just poopooing this idea. It's actually not a bad idea, just needs a few tweaks. I'll keep it short and people can expand on this or just move on. WCW had Slamboree which was "Legends Reunion" a few times. If somehow WWE could move the H.O.F. away from Wrestlemania and incorporate it into a PPV type scenario on a different month. (Gimmick PPV's seems to be the new direction anyways) The actual suit and tie induction ceremony could still be the saturday before the PPV. At the actual wrestling event you have mostly matches featuring current wrestlers and storylines, sprinkled with one or two "Legends" matches on the card. Add in some sort of H.O.F. recognition and BAM! There are different PPV's every month anyways so this takes up just one of 12 and nostalgia sells... so why not? This idea is not as bad as everyone is making it out to be... very do-able, very viable, and more than likely profitable.

but this is just one mans opinion -TDub

The reason why ECW One Night Stand worked was because ECW was different from WCW and the WWF back then. The guys that were working were more of a family then WCW and WWF, which were more businesses. Also, it wasn't held 20 years after their prime, and most of them could at least put a watchable match in the ring. And, they had the novelty of the Hammerstein Ballroom. They had their own 'designated' arena of sorts. WCW and WWF didn't really had that as they traveled all over the US. Sure, they had some arenas that were more memorable then others (MSG, Georgia Dome), but they didn't go there consistently.

As for your idea, no, I'd be a horrible event to watch, because, like many have said, most of these guys are retired and washed up and have no business being in a ring. Not only that, but you would need to take time to build them up, which would take time away from guys who could actually use it. So no to this idea, for now and forever on after.

Although it would be a proud night for the legends mentioned and the fans would appreciate their favorite childhood heroes performing for one night only, I really do not think it would be a total success. Most of the guys listed are way out of their prime and the most entertaining part would be their entrances. The legends do not really need a one night stand because they have nothing else left to prove. The ECW guys are only getting a one night stand because they claim they were screwed by Vince and TNA has nothing left up their sleeve except for the ECW guys, which is quite sad if you ask me. So to answer your question no I do not think this should happen because the legends have nothing left to offer in regards of wrestling.
