Will Vince ever release a Autobiography?

Over the years we have seen some great books from WWE Superstars past and present. So far, Bret Harts book has been the most open and honest in my opinion and really lifted the lid on a few things that were often discussed by the IWC.

A Vince book would be a 'must read' and would be the biggest seller ever from someone associated with the wrestling industry. However, he would have to lift the lid on a lot of secrets within his own company and the industry as a whole so for that reason it is pretty much a non starter I guess.

We can only dream of him giving a 'truthful' account of what really happened with Macho Man, what happened with CM Punk in that room after Rumble 14, why did he release certain Superstars, his thoughts on Montreal, his thoughts on Austin walking out in 2002, did he really despise Good Ol JR....so many unanswered questions we need to know about.

What are your thoughts?

Famous people usually write autobiographies after they retire, and Vince McMahon will retire only after he's dead. If he can write the thing posthumously, that's the only way I see it getting done.

But wouldn't it be interesting to read what type of self-story he would write, as opposed to how he operates as a wrestling promoter? As the latter, he's the hardest-driving principal ever in the business, but as a writer, if he soft-pedaled the whole story by writing a cookie cutter version of events, the book might be the most boring thing ever written, with the reader coming to understand that he's not really learning anything new by reading this book. Obviously, the real stories Vince could tell might make the book the biggest must-read in the annals of pro wrestling. Like the OP, I'd love to discover the true facts behind dealings with employees who have come and gone over the years. What happened with Randy Savage and WWE would top the list, imo. I'd also enjoy learning what truly went on behind the scenes in negotiations with Bruno Sammartino and Hulk Hogan. Why did Vince really fire certain performers.....and why did he retain others?

To learn the true details behind decisions that were made over the years would be terrific reading......a tale that could be told to the reader's satisfaction only by Vince McMahon.

But if he finally decided to sit down and write it, how open would he actually be?

I doubt he will, I don't think he'd want to share every secret of the wrestling business with the general public, I know we as fans know alot about the inner workings of wrestling these days but there will still be plenty that we have no knowledge of, and things that Vince wouldn't feel comfortable sharing.

I definitely think a Vince McMahon autobiography would be one of, if not the, biggest selling wrestling book of all time. There are so many fascinating stories I would love to read his opinions of- such as the Montreal screwjob, the buying up of all the rival regional territories, why he decided to push certain wrestlers about others, the steroid trials, the failed experiments like the XFL, how close the WWF came to going out of business during WCW's dominance and many others.

If he does release a book, I would expect it to focus on how the WWF became a success, rather than his personal issues/controversies, but I dont think we will anything coming from the pen of Vinny Mac unfortunately.

I wouldn't be surprised if instead of a book it comes out as a DVD consistent with his company's handling of its stars. Also wouldn't be surprised if he's already figured out how it's going to be laid out and what specific footage is to be in it. Same goes if actually released as a book - he knows who is writing it and that person has an outline of what and how to write it.

The problem you have is that you are dealing with a man who has peddled "fiction" his entire life. It would be nigh on impossible to "trust" what was written as the truth, the best wrestling books like Jericho and Foley's have a great mix of the truth and some "work" to them. The only book people would "want" from Vince would be warts and all, total burying of people and he's not given people what they want to this point, why would he "start" now?

I don't want to know about Vince's life as a commentator or how he an Linda fell in love... and neither would anyone else... for Bret, Jericho, Foley etc it's integral to their story but 99% of the population want Vince to dish dirt...they want to know about Savage, Warrior, Nailz, Hogan and Bret... They want to know the salacious stuff and he's smart enough to know that he can't really bury people in that way as he might need them in future or the business might do. It's why Triple H or Steph and probably JR will never do one...a lot of what really happened would be detrimental to the business, to individuals or their memories and only cast Vince in a bad light. Before he goes I can see him doing a big interview with Larry King or the like where some stuff gets covered but that's about it.

I wouldn't be shocked if some kind of text exists/is being worked on by him but I don't ever imagine it being released in his lifetime, and even then not until the company is taken private again. A man like him HAS to have kept some kind of journal or record of his life over the years, if he truly only sleeps 2 hours a night then this probably takes some of those hours...

I'm not much of a fan of WWE-filtered autobiographies since the wrestlers who write them can't really give truthful facts about certain things so the company doesn't look bad, I wouldn't trust most of what McMahon's book says. And considering he is so controlling, I doubt he'd put in anything negative or things he regrets.

I'd prefer a biography with stories told from eye witnesses and strong sources than one written by Vince himself.

I could see such a project already in the works. Vince might have been planning this for years. I just can't see much true value in such a project. Sure it woul see like crazy but it would be full of "half" truths and could hurt the business. Vince has always been about exploiting others but never the real himself.

IF if if,he were to do this,I would want the book to be a tell-all book.. Leave no stone unturned, why did he screw Bret how many people knew about it.. Why did he retain certain performers while others got the boot.. The steroid scandal how nervous was he really?? I would want the book to be a behind the scenes,a book where you get all the questions answered..

But if there is stuff not answered then i simply would not be interested in reading it.. Vince will write it,once he retires or passes on.. Hell Vince wont even induct himself into the HOF,I just dont see a book deal happening

Yea this can never happen. At the very least, the years of about 1985-1993 will need to be omitted. I suspect things were pretty much business as usual until about Wrestlemania 1 and probably calmed down after the steroid scandal. He can't comment on anyone's steroid or drug use and it's related escapades, he can't comment on anyone's homosexuality, and he won't comment on any "indiscretions" he or anyone in his family may have had with other professional wrestlers. I am not sure how much of things he actually witnessed vs heard about, but his story probably wouldn't have that many surprises.

Everyone seems to jumping on the idea that a book by or about Vince would only be good if it were filled with dirt sheet trash talk. I for one, might just be the business owner or leader in me, would love to know what makes the man tick. How did he keep that drive for all these years? How did he chase his vision for the company? These would be great stories.
