Will the WWE Ever Have Another "Surprise" Debut?

To be honest Goldberg wasn't a surprise and while Jericho was a mystery to me back in the day there were fans in the arena with Jericho signs.

The Internet ruins surprise or the site that reports on the company. Now they will tell you 3 months ahead of time when the contract is expiring or when the no compete clause expire. To have a surprise you would need the TNA to be even bigger or have a name that was well established in WWE before like Angle returning. With new stars or mid TNA stars the WWE will sign them 10 months ahead of time, take the time to develop them in their farm system to get use to the WWE style of wrestling or because they don't want to debut her before Wrestlemania.

To be honest Sting this year could have been a big surprise if he accepted to come work with Taker.

As far as active wrestlers though, Sting is the only one left that would be a big suprise and like most said, not going to happen.

I don't know why people say, not going to happen. I know this is not a topic on Sting, but the guy will end up in the WWE next year or the one after. He said that he wants to do one Mania that it's something you always think about it but that for now he choose to stay in TNA.

But to get a surprise you would need a secret signing from someone that you didn't know had an expiring contract and that is well known to the general public. Sure AJ Styles would surprise 20 to 30% of the WWE audience but the other 70 to 80% would not know about him.

I agree about Sting being the only guy able to have a surprise 'big' debut. Everyone else has either already worked for WWE or isn't popular enough.

It is possible to have surprise returns though. John Cena returning at Royal Rumble 2008 proved that.

You guys vastly underestimate TNA's popularity because of the ratings they get. Almost every WWE fan at one point in time or another has watched TNA on Spike. The only thing is TNA doesn't have a clue on how to get people to keep watching. TNA has video games that children buy and play and get familiar with the TNA roster. Anyways here are a list of debuts and returns that would/could get a reaction out of the WWE audience.

Debuts:

Sting: Everyone knows the Stinger. He's (possibly) the most well know non WWE wrestler in the world. WWE sells thousands/millions of DVDs with the mans face on the cover.

Samoa Joe: One of TNA's homegrown talents who was voted in 06 as PWI's Most Popular Wrestler. Has a very unique look that makes him instantly recognizable as the guy from "the other promotion".

AJ Styles: The rival to Sting as the most well known non-WWE wrestler today. I'm certain most of the WWE audience will recognize him as the face of TNA.

Returns:

Jeff Hardy: Always over, always will be. Sold WWE tons of merchandise (even i have a JH shirt and bracelet) and had all the little kids and women wearing cut up stockings on their arms. Also his departure is ONE OF the reason CM Punk is over as heel.

Hulk Hogan: Last year the Hulkster was in the top ten most searched wrestlers on Google and proves he's still over with the fans. Not to mention all he's done in the past.

Rob Van Dam: Got a huge pop at the Royal Rumble and also was featured in WWE Smackdown Vs. Raw 2011. Former WWE/ECW/TNA World champion.

Just because TNA doesn't rival WWE like WCW did when Jericho debuted doesn't mean they don't have the talent that can shock the WWE universe. Im not even saying these will get a reaction from the WWE universe, but these are the most likely to do so.
