Will The Internet Be the Death of Santa?

Mac Attack

I'm neat.
I remember a time when I still believed in Santa Claus, and around my favorite time of the year Christmas, I always thought of what Santa actually was like. Back then internet was something not everyone had and I always wondered if there was a way to see a picture of Santa.

Now bringing this thread back to the year 2011, we have kids in 1st grade (my cousin is one) who walk around with their I-Pod Touch who look up whatever they want with this thing called Google. And I know if I were a kid at that age one of the first things I would look up is Santa Claus. And I if I ended up seeing he wasn't real I'd be devastated. I truly believe with today's technology we will see the disappearance of Santa Claus quickly in the future. With the age group learning how to do a little resarch and the age group below them not having the intelligencee to know what is happening I have to say what is the point of Santa. With the advance of technology and more and more children learning how to use the internet will we ultimately see the death of Santa Claus?

Well not really.

Using your cousin as an example, who's not to say the kids in his class would tell him Santa Claus doesn't exist before he finds out through Google? Sure, he's only in grade 1, but I think that was the time my friend spoiled it for me :banghead:

I thought you could track Santa on the internet. At least that’s what I have been told from my little cousins. What I don't understand is why we are told about Santa, Easter Bunny and the other myths for. Do are parents want us to grow up knowing that things in life are a lie and not what we perceive them to truly be?

A guy was told me that Satan's greatest trick is fooling people into thinking he isn't real. Now switch the letters in Satan around and what do you get?

To answer your question I don't think it would ruin Santa for little kids since they have the whole Santa tracking thing come Christmas.

Depends really on hwat is injected into the kid's minds by others. If he/she doesnt have a clue or even consider santa claus to be fake then they would not even consider google him. However it is far more likley for children who have been told that santa calus is fake and want to find out. Its all in the pshychology.

You can't believe most of the things you read online. The parents need to teach their children that important lesson. Someone could post "the sky is plaid" online but that does not change the fact that it's blue. A lot of things people read online are incorrect and cannot be trusted. As long as parents remember to teach that to their kids then even if the kids google Santa then they may be more likely to ignore what they find despite him not being real. It is the parents' job also to keep these mythical characters alive for the next generation by continuing to tell the stories and share the values taught within because otherwise that has a much higher chance of killing things like Santa than the internet does.
