Mid-Card Championship Winner
Everyone was taken aback when Sheamus won Money in the Bank, but I find it odd that Rollins or Triple H/Steph have yet to really acknowledge it. Sheamus has threatened to cash in on RAW and Smackdown, but Rollins never seems worried even though he should know how dangerous that briefcase is more than anyone.
Yet Kane, who is part of the Authority, seems to have struck up an alliance with Sheamus- even though he is arguably a threat to their champion. Granted, Kane usually acts independently, but even Ambrose is always making fun of how he's the Authorities errand boy. Shallow insult, or is this foreshadowing a potential alliance between Sheamus and the Authority? Maybe Sheamus would fit the mold of what the Authority desires?
This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, as Sheamus doesn't strike me as the kind of guy that's easy to control. Randy Orton used to be easy to control and the Authority discarded him once that changed. Seth Rollins used to be easy to control, but now is showing signs of independence and the Authority is not pleased with this. I thought it was weird when the Authority decided to pit Rollins against the even more unreliable Lesnar. Maybe their long term plan is to have Sheamus cash in, but once again, Sheamus is a wild card himself. In a strange twist, when Stephanie and Sheamus had a segment together, they seemed to get along fine...even though Sheamus had previously been part of a rebellion and Stephanie was responsible for him being injured...
The sad thing with the WWE right now is it has such a loose, surreal grasp on continuity that I can no longer tell if they are setting up a potential story or if it's all just a big coincidence. This is the same company that remembered Paige betraying Alicia Fox, but apparently forgot that Nikki was friendly with the Authority. If they do go this route, I really don't want Rollins to turn face. Nor do I want Sheamus to be face. I'd rather Sheamus try to cash in on their match and fail against Brock.
I kind of suspect that Sheamus will put the briefcase on the line and lose it to Ambrose, but that would throw all of this foreshadowing (If that's what it is) out of the window. But what do you think? Am I reading too much into this? Is Sheamus going to be the next 'Future'?
