Will Eric Bischoff Ever Be In The WWE HoF?

There was a similar thread not too long ago that raised the exact same question about Vince Russo, but some people didnt like him enough to say that he deserved a spot, while others said maybe not since he's only a writer. Well, I have a new question: Do you think Eric Bischoff derserves a spot in the WWE HoF? Although the prime of his on-screen time in wrestling was him on WCW trying to put down the WWE, he did come over to the WWE eventually and became one of the most, if not the most, popular GM of all time. His contributions to the world of wreslting are also pretty undeniable. So, basically itll be up whether or not VKM will let him in or not. Will Bischoff be inducted, or will he be snubbed a la Randy Savage?

I think there is a possibility of Bischoff getting inducted, but not for a really long time, when Bischoff is old or deceased. After all, they did induct Verne Gagne after putting him out of business a few decades prior. However, the difference between the two is that Verne was an actual wrestler, and dedicated his life to the business, unlike Bischoff who only stuck around for a few years.

I'd ahve to say no. If there's anyone that knows how to hold a grudge, it's Vince. Considering some of the tactics that Bischoff used, I can't imagine it'll ever happen during Vince's life. There's a popular theory that says Vince hired Eric so he could further prove he conquered him which I could definitely agree with. Bischoff did more to put Vince and the WWF in the ground than anyone else ever did, which Vince is never going to forget. Eric was an amazing booker and a good executive for a long time, but in the end he went too far with trying to beat Vince and it caught up with him. Based on that and with Vince being the way he is, I'll say no.

Absolutely not.

In his WWE tenure, he wasn't around long enough to merit even a mention as a HOF candidate. He did some interesting things but he left the company before he could establish any sort of legacy.

Presuming that he really was in full charge at WCW, I don't think the body of work he did there qualifies him for the Hall of Fame, either. What he did accomplish was to spend the company out of business, losing $60-$80 million dollars a year until Time-Warner decided to fold WCW. (I read that in the financial pages of the Wall Street Journal, of all places). In other words, he never would have made WWE suffer had he not been able to spend money his company didn't even have.

So, he spend gave ridiculously large contracts to wrestlers to induce them to leave WWE, spent megabucks on overly ornate production facilities (a 3-hour Nitro!), all in an effort to knock WWE out of business. And after all that, he failed to do it.

Bischoff in the Hall of Fame?

Forget it!

Why would Vince Russo be in the WWE hall of fame... The problem WCW had when they brought Russo in is they assumed everyone knew he was one of the top writers the WWF/E but only internet fans knew who he was and everyone else didnt care. Alot of people were in the WWE to filter out his bad ideas with the good. Where in WCW there was no filter and you saw how weak Russo could be. Bischoff had his flaws but his impact on the wrestling business cant be denied and unlike Russo, Bischoff was a succesful on air personality which adds to his credibility as a possible HOF candidate. It might happen but it defenitly wont happen anytime soon

To some of the people above, it doesn't matter how long he was in WWE for him to get into the HoF. Flair spent most of his career outside the WWE, and most of his titles aren't with the WWE. To answer the question, I do think that bischoff will be in the HoF eventually. But he'll be a "filler", someone who they induct just to fill in spots to make it seem important. He played a GREAT heel, and his "fired" storyline was epic.

I was thinking about this when watching some old documentaries on WCW, and I must say I am torn. Hands down, I think Bischoff deserves it for what it meant to the business. He brought WCW out of relative obscurity in the early 90s when Ted Turner bought it from Jim Crockett, but didn't have a clue what he was doing. Bischoff took the helm of that ship and made it into an absolute monster. One of WCW's biggest mistakes was not allowing Bischoff to be involved enough towards the end, and I think had he been the one to buy WCW he could have turned it around..he was that much a genius when it came to the wrestling business.
Aside from that, the fact that he took this nothing company and in a matter of a few years had it beating the WWF in ratings for months and created one of the greatest storylines in professional wrestling history with the nWo and Hogan's transformation from the ultimate face to the ultimate heel. This shows what Bischoff and WCW did when they were at their best.
His time in WWE had its high points, and was memorable if only for the fact that this was Eric f'n Bischoff as GM of WWE's Monday Night Raw. But his HoF candidacy should not be focused on just his WWE time as someone seems to have suggested..it should be as a whole because he is one of the most influential men in pro wrestling history.

Now that's my case for why I think he should be inducted, but will he? The only answer I have for that is not anytime soon. That's not to say he won't as I'll never say never, just not now. Who knows what Vince will be thinking 5 or 10 years from now though...and especially after he has passed, I could see Shane/Steph warming to Bischoff.

I think he will be in the HOF one day because of all of his contributions to pro wrestling. He deserves it.I hope McMahon can get of his grudge towards Eric and do what is right for business. He is definetly not going to be leading his years hall of fame class but i think his speech will be aired on tv unless there's to many bigger names than him.

"There's a popular theory that says Vince hired Eric so he could further prove he conquered him which I could definitely agree with."

klunderbunker I also heard about this theory and that the only reason he hired him was so that he could say his longtime rival worked for him at one point.

Theory? Theory? Stephanie McMahon flat out stated that Vince told her to her face, that that is the sole reason Eric was hired on the McMahon DVD.

I'd say you're more like to have Paul Hayman in the HOF than you are Eric Bischoff. I mean Vince is now basically making extra money from a concept that Paul Heyman broke his back for, for nearly 8 years.

Not to mention the fact that Paul worked in WCW, created and ran ECW, and finally came and worked in WWE for about 4 or 5 years.

Eric definiteyl deserves to be a pro-wrestling HOF but i doubt he'd get in the WWE HOF.

Also on a side note, why is everyone talking about Eric's WWE legacy not being much to care about? This is a HOF that includes Pete Rose for taking 1 bump at 3 separate WM's for crying out loud.

im shocked that this is even a discussion...i mean eric worked for a few years and tho provided sum great moments he will nvr b inducted and whoever said vince hired him so he cud always hav that hangin over eric's head is true i wud say, altho it was good 4 business 2 bring him in i reli dont fink eric did that much for WWE for him 2 b put in the hall of fame wif past WWF/WWE legends , u cant put a guy in the WWF/WWE hall of fame who ran WCW for years n years it jus wudnt make any sense but then again its the "wraslin business" but personally i fink its stupid 2 even consider they wud go there....

Thought it was the wrestling HOF not touted as the WWE hall of fame. I think guys like Arn Anderson are more deserving then eric and would hope that they induct Sting when he is done.. If they want it to be taken even a bid serious they have to look at people who made their careers outside WWF/WWE..

Even if they don't want just Arn Anderson then they should group him with the other 3 original Horseman.

As far as Eric I think there is NO way he would get in to a wrestling hall of fame. the only thing he did was steal stars and ruin a wrestling company. YES the NWO was a good idea which was killed by adding a bunch of nobody wrestlers and yes turning hogan bad was a good idea but the overall work in WCW was terrible.. The moral sucked and he proved that having the best and the most money isn't enough..

No. Vince wouldn't let Eric in the WWE hall of fame cause he still has a grudge over him, cause Eric's greatest achievements comes from when WCW was kicking WWE's ass for 82or 88 straight weeks & the lnly purpose why Eric was hired was so Vince can say that he worked for him. Sure Eric's WWE tenure was great as he introduced the Elimination Chamber & the RAW Roulette wheel. Both of those were fantastic choices.

For grudge see Randy Savage, or don't because he'll probably be on live WWE TV again. If Vince had a grudge with Bischoff then he wouldn't have hired him in 2002. He won, he rubbed it in Bischoffs face often. If he came back he'd do the same again.

Bischoff also appears on TV sometimes, he was last on when Vince got blown up if I remember correctly. While I doubt he'd put him in the HOF and say ''look how successful Eric was. He gave me no choice but to up my game''. He'll almost certainly give him a spot with a revised highlight package showing how every idea he had was done by Vince first.

I believe that Eric Bisschof will end up in the WWE's hall of fame. I mean sure Vince isn't his best friend but I definitely think that he respects Eric. You can't ignore what the guy has meant to the wrestling business. He was responsible for Vince having to work hard and to make the best damn product out there. Vince would agree that Eric was the reason that superstars like The Rock and many others were pushed to the limit to compete with WCW. Like Y2Jake said if Vince hated him or held a grudge he wouldn't hire the man. So I think what for what Eric did for the wrestling industry Vince will allow him to enter the Hall Of Fame.

I don't believe that Vince hired Bischoff to get the last laugh. Since he already had the last laugh when he bought WCW. I agree with Jake 100%, if Vince held a grudge Eric would have never stepped a foot inside of the WWE.

For what he done in WCW Yes.. for what he accomplished in WWE NO.. he basically made to look bad in most opportunities.. and when he did get the upper hand.. it was pulled away the following week.. I generally felt bad for the guy in WWE he had a strong debut then 2003 it lacked.

Like it or not, Ol' Uncle Eric will indeed be in the WWE Hall of Fame one day. Let's be honest, he took a company that Vince always looked at as an inferior product and almost put him out of business. Factor in the fact that WCW and WWF's rivalry helped to usher in one of the most financially prosperous times for Professional Wrestling, well Vince can't take all of the credit for that, although one must wonder if the egomaniac believes he did it. Also, don't be surprised to see Paul Heyman in the HoF one day also as ECW, the REAL ECW, had quite a bit to do with the Metamorphosis of Pro Wrestling as well. It will be interesting to see how long they wait to induct these guys though.

NO, Plain and Simple he's competing against Vince again in a small way so no chance....

Though ya never say never when it comes to WWE.

Anyway he had little to do with "WWF" history. which is something all inductees so far have in common with the exception of Ric Flair who only played a small part in WWF history.

Absolutely not.

Just a quick clarification ... the WWE Hall of Fame has become more of a Hall of Fame that is reflective upon the wrestling industry ... not just WWE.

The entire Von Erich family is getting inducted at this year's Hall of Fame. When was the last time you saw Kevin Von Erich, Mike Von Erich, David Von Erich, and the rest of the kids (other than Kerry) ... along with Fritz ... compete in a WWE ring?

But Bischoff will be inducted at some point. I think Vince respected Bischoff, at the end of the day ... and Bischoff essentially helped evolve the wrestling industry to what it is today. Nitro revolutionized the way that WWE now does Raw.

I think he will be, he definitely needs to be inducted. When WWE took over WCW, with that I assume they took over WCWs HOF and thus WWEs HOF has become a general wrestling HOF.

Bischoff revolutionised the business in the mid 90s and if Vince had a grudge against him would he have had him on WWE TV? No, he would not have. Eric Bischoff deserves to be in the HOF as the guy has some legacy about him.
