Why was Scott Hall fired from WWE in 2002?

From what I remember, in late March/early April Scott Hall was on a plane with other WWE wrestlers, apparently he had a few drinks and started a fight with one of the guys, leading him to be fired by Jim Ross upon landing (apparently JR was in a position at the time to fire someone if there was a reason for it)

This is all know, is this accurate or was it because of something else.
