Why Jericho/Punk should go on last

The Warlord

Pre-Show Stalwart
If the WWE wants to make the most of this ppv...they need to put the WWE title match on before CM Punk's return match in his hometown of Chicago.

You might not like it..and Im a wrestling traditionalist so I understand. The championship should always be the most important and close the show. But if they want this to come out good on tv and not have a dead crowd for the 3-stages of hell championship match, put Punk on last. We all know the crowd goes ape shit for Punk in Chicago...and it will be 10 fold after his lengthy absence.

Really looking forward to the ppv...I think it has the potential to be one of the best this year.

I doubt WWE intends on turning Punk face, thus they won't want his ovation to be the lasting memory of the show. The WWE Championship match will go on last.

DUH! BOTH PUNK ND JERICO R DE BEZT IN DA WORLD! If only Bret was young enough to join in the fun...

No one wants Curtis Axel vs. Chris Jericho as the main event of Payback.

Are you suggesting that Punk doesn't show up and Axel takes his place?

That would be a GIANT middle finger to fans in attendance and those buying the PPV. Wouldn't make sense.

I've said that since day one that Axel is gonna take Punk's spot. And I think that even more considering Heyman said "Punk can do no wrong in Chicago". There is the heel heat Punk needs and it'll likely get that even in his hometown.

I hope that Punk shows up on Raw tonight (either live, pre-taped, or via sattelite; doesn't matter) to help clarify this situation.

I was just gonna say that it needs clarification. Doing the switch at the PPV will result in a LOT of heat for WWE, not on Punk.

It would be a stupid idea that WWE wouldn't/shouldn't do at the PPV. They are advertising the return of the number 2 guy (fuck that he is a heel) at a PPV in his hometown. People are BUYING the PPV coz of him mostly (and the Bryan/Orton match I guess).

This is like Finger poke of Doom bad if it happens without any clarification.

Good God! Card Subject To Change?! For a PPV, how much is it worth?

Seriously its asinine to think that they would do that.

The way I see it, it wouldn't be a colossal blunder because it'd be in service to all of the characters involved. However, there are a lot of people who watch and attend events who don't think about this stuff as much as we do. Those people are expecting Punk to wrestle. WWE doesn't need to spell out whether or not Punk will perform at the pay-per-view, but they should at least have Punk appear and foreshadow what's to come. A no-show/bait-and-switch out of left field will legitimately piss off a fair amount of fans.

A week later they would get over it. Like I said before its wrestling, this shit happens quite a bit.

Goldberg vs. Nash was advertised, the problem wasn't the match didn't happen, its the dumb finger poke of doom part that was a piss off. They did an angle with Bret Hart 2 days before Rumble '92 and no one knew he wasn't wrestling until the event actually took place. Punk lost his 1st WHC at NOC '08 by getting kicked in the head before the match at the event, once again no one cared and got pissed. My point is this happens in wrestling, they pull the bait and switch and that's it. No one cares, no one stops watching, everything is fine.

Question. How outraged would you be if Punk didn't show up? Really?

Personally, I don't have the option buying PPVs, cable. Personally, I'm more excited about Bry/Orton.

But I know the majority of the 'regular' fans have been promised a Punk return. Most of them will buy because its Punk's return. The heat wouldn't so much on Punk as it would be on WWE, I must reiterate.

No way. It's not just a WWE Championship match, it's a feud-ending match, and it's a fuckin' 3 Stages Of Hell match. Cena/Ryback is way too important to go on before Punk/Jericho even if there is a dead crowd during their match, but I doubt there will be as they had a good brawl at Extreme Rules and I expect another here.
