Why is Ultimate Warrior at the intro of WWE Programming?

Doomsday Device

Pre-Show Stalwart
We know Hogan was taken out of the intro because of association with TNA. Same thing with Flair.

Now Warrior is in the intro, a guy who was fired by WWE THREE TIMES.

Knowing WWE like I do ( I worked for them for a while once) theres a reason behind everything that happens. But this one I cannot figure out.

Well honestly the question shouldn't be why did they put the Warrior in the intro for the WWE, but why the hell it took so long for them to take flair out. Hogan was gone and his dvd was unadvertised as soon as he announced he has joined with TNA, Hardy shows up on Jan 4th and that same week he is replaced with Kofi. Yet Ric Flair didn't get removed until the week of him getting into the ring but has been associated with TNA for 3 months now.

The Warrior and Vince have had a love hate relationship and they mended a bridge similar to what Bret and Vince did a few years back, and the whole smear campaign of the Warrior is done, and he almost was inducted into the hall of fame, so really why not Warrior?

i think they just chose somebody safe. meaning... a wwe legend that they suspect is in no danger of joining TNA. i don't see him getting into the Hall of Fame this year. maybe next year. this could be a way of beginning the courting process to get him interested.

Why not the Warrior? He is a former WWE champion and one of the most over guys in the history of the company. From the mid-late 80's through the early 90's, this guy was their second biggest name behind Hogan. He was over enough to beat Hogan at Mania 6and take the WWF championship.

Vince and Warrior haven't had the best of relationships. Actually, they hated each other, and may still. But that doesn't take away everything he did in the WWF. Was the Warrior a garbage wrestler? Yes, he stunk. But for his time, he was perfect. A roided up, muscular meathead. He was perfect. Would that exact character work today? No, he would be booed out of the building. But it worked then. And just because Vince decided to be bitter and release a DVD ripping the guy, doesn't mean Vince doesn't understand just how big this guy was.

The first time I saw him on the intro, I immediately thought Hall of Fame. But i have read that it's happening, it's not happening, it's happening, etc. etc. So who knows. If not this year, then pretty soon it should happen.

Actually, I don't see why Warrior shouldn't be the intro. I have no idea what his relationship with Vince is like. However, I recently saw his big shoot interview, and I must say I instantly gained a ton of respect for the guy. In a time of corruption and slander, he was a guy who kept his integrity. He knew he was never the best wrestler of his time. But he said that in his time, it was all about charisma. He had that. Sure, his character has gone to his head and at times he is bat-shit crazy, burning bridges with almost everyone who came into contact with him in the late 90s. However, he was one of the "Big Three" of the Federation Years and really had a desire to give the fans their money's worth. Whether his relationship with Vince is positive or negative, that fact alone makes him worthy of being in the intro. I also assume they had to ask him, but he probably said no and said they were lying. Still, thats the way it is. As for him guest hosting? No. Plain and simple.

To be honest, I really don't think he's on there for any reason other than Vince is trying to show that he likes him now so he will agree to get inducted into the HoF. It was reported like a month or so ago that Warrior had turned down the offer to be inducted, so who knows if or when that's ever going to happen.

Warrior is probably on there for a couple of reasons.

1. Obviously Flair had to be removed. I know the wwe could have chosen anyone to be featured, but warrior was probably there biggest option (even though he was really only there for like 2 years and fired like 3 times) so maybe they just went with him to replace flair.

2. They asked him to be in the hall of fame this year and he turned it down. Vince probably wants to show Warrior that he cares about him or at least thinks somewhat of him enough to be featured in the intro. Vince may want to at least maintain some kind of positive relationship with Warrior possibly so he can be inducted into the hall of fame or at least used in other products such as merchandising, or featured in dvds or what have you.

3. Another reason could be that Vince wanted to sort of take a shot a Flair and Hogan. It is no secret that Hogan does not particularly like Warrior and Flair does not speak highly of him as well. Vince maybe by choosing Warrior, Vince thought it was kind of a cheap shot to get at Flair and Hogan(although i doubt that either one of them really cares that much)

Honestly though, who really cares if Warrior is in the intro or not. He was somewhat of a big deal even if it was for a very short time. I was a big Warrior fan when i was younger but then when I got older and realized how much that guy actually sucked and how unprofessional he was, i lost all respect for him. He was just a body with a unique look and was put together/packeged very well by the wwe. He somewhat had charisma and gave some of the most bizare and hilarious interviews ever. Other than that, there is nothing to him and I personal do not think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. But that is not my call. The WWE can put whoever they want to in the intro and it does not bother me. I could care less who they feature on the intro.

As said before, Vinnie is tryin to reach out to Warrior. If Vince puts Warriors face out there in a positive like Hellwig might soften up enough to do the HOF and a Legends deal. It's just a money thing. Vince can make money off it so he'll play nice. Just business, nothin sinister about it.

I agree deadelVix that he was added because he was simply a safe bet to not end up on the TNA brand....

But with so many legends, I must ask this where is Curt Henning or The Road Warriors, How about Earthquake or Bossman??? Hell even 1 of their own stars currently still there in Jerry Lawler....

Because, fuck 'em, let WWE put Warrior in the intro. He isn't in TNA right now, and who else could they put in that mix from that older era that would be as recognizable?

He's a big enough part of their history, hasn't TO'd McMahon off like (apparently) Savage has, and is honestly a part of the childhood memory of many of us sports entertainment fans. He's memorable, he's iconic. He's a perfect avatar for what WWE was in the 80's and early 90's.

Viva la Warrior!

He is one of the biggest stars in wrestling history, and he isn't with TNA, so why not? They've probably come to terms with him finally, and are now acknowledging him, such as putting him in the Alumni section. Maybe he is being inducted either this year, which is unlikely, or next year, which is highly likely unless something happens where they can't agree on terms again.

You can say what you want bout Warriors views and things of that nature, but as a wrestler, he is probably one of the biggest legends of all time, and they needed to fill the intro with a different recognizable name since most are working for the competition.

He has a big history during the rise of wrestling, and I agree that it is to court him into being inducted into the HOF.

Probably not next year because of the WCW theme, but maybe the year after, or maybe even a surprise late addition to this year. That would be nice, and the fact that he turned down Vince probably just made Vince want it more.

It's not hard to figure out why Ultimate Warrior is in the intro of WWE Programming. That medley of video clips shows moments from WWE's past that were great and many people remember. Warrior was a huge star back in the day and it makes sense to include him in the intro video clips. They had to take out guys like Hogan and Flair, so they fill in those gaps with guys such as Dibiase and Warrior because they were big names in the past and aren't with TNA now. I also agree with some of you who think it could be to help convince him to accept a Hall of Fame Induction, but I'm pretty sure the main reason they include him in the intro is just because he was one of the biggest stars in WWE history, he had a ton of fans and people still like him.

yall are funny......hall of fame this, respect that, anger hogan an flair this, reaching out that. do none of yall remember that back in the 90's after warrior had left wcw the wwe had warrior at the very beginning of the intro it was like a transgression from old hogan era stars to attitude era stars to new potential stars an then back to the cena's, hunter's, takers, rocks, hbks. so this isn't something new, and its damn sure not a way to try to get warrior to accept the hall of fame, i mean a man who changes his name from jim helwig to warrior is just fruckin crazy period. but i am sure that since warrior owns his image otherwise he wouldn't be able to call himself warrior an get it legally changed, that he probably was short on money an this is a way that vince an the wwe can pay him without him having to get back in the ring in any fashion. but ya know what......to be totally honest, just like how many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop, the world may NEVER know.

One thing that it could be is a rub at Hogan. Ultimate Warrior beat Hogan during Wrestlemania VI, and thus can be seen in keyfabe terms as bigger than Hogan. Then again, it could also be a lead to a new relationship with the Warrior, and perhaps a new DVD, that portrays him a little better than we saw with the Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior. Either way, if the WWE did it, there is probably a reason to showcase a star of old like that.
