Why is NXT still around?

While on topic of my earlier thread, I was thinking: Why in the world is NXT still on? Season 1 was great, Season Two was very good, but seasons 3, 4 and thus far 5 have bombed. As others have said, they should just replace it with Tough Enough, a much better and more realistic show. I also would be in favor of making FCW a show. That has all of WWE's next talent. Why wouldn't they actually film that with their professional cameras instead of the poor ones they use when they do film it or make an FCW set? But why has Vince kept NXT around when it has failed? Johnny Curtis is just saying and acting out puns, Kaval was released, Kaitlyn is a diva ( enough said) and I hope dearly Titus O Neil doesn't win or drops his gimmick completely if he does. Your thoughts?

Because WWE have overseas obligations to fill with Sky Sports, that's why.

FCW should never be made into a television show. Florida Championship Wrestling is a development federation, it's there for people to grow, why would the WWE promote people when a quarter of them will eiher fail or be released after several appearences? FCW has a one hour show on some satellite television station and that's where it should stay, people are there to grow, adapt and learn the WWE style of competing before advancing to the main roster.

NXT from what I know has another season. Replaced by Tough Enough? I imagine you're from the UK because WWE has TE on a national station before RAW. FCW going to television on a wide scale - no, should never and will never happen.

Now we know why, but I completely agree with the OP in terms of how bad NXT sucks now. I loved Season 1 and I loved season 2 even more than the first one but now it's so overplayed and stupid that I haven't paid attention since I heard that they were doing an all Diva season. At least they don't promote it much on WWE TV, I treat it like it doesn't even exist anymore.

I agree with ctln4rko on the fact that the show is awful, I enjoyed the first season because I marked at the fact that Bryan Danielson was going to be on it and Season 2 because Low Ki/Senshi/Kaval was attached and I grew to like starts I had yet to see before like Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, Alex Riley and Husky Harris. I think the show shoud have ended after Season 3, but I do understand WWE having a deal with Sky. I think if the show is going to stick around it does need a format change. I don't think some of the bigger FCW stars need to be on here Seth Rollins (Tyler Black) is supposed to be in Season 6, and I feel that he doesn't need to be. They could debut him some other way like they did Jinder Mahal. I heard that they had thought about doing a season with the rookies dads being their pros which I thought would have been good. As far as FCW goes, if they are going to make these guys look like jackasses being paraded around by jobbers then why not show FCW instead? I mean at least they could get to have meaningful matches and develop their character on television without being paraded around by Hornswoggle, Primo, Yoshi Tatsu, Big Bully Busick, The Berzerker or whatever other jobber they decide to stick these poor guys with.

It's around because we need something to laugh at every week. Honestly, that's the only entertainment value I really get from the show (well, that along with looking at Maryse and Regal on commentary). It's pretty terrible now, as the challenges are pointless and there is no real logic behind the show at all (they just brought somebody back from other season right before the finals, WTF?). I wish they would at least bring Cole back to acknowledge how terrible it is every week, which usually tended to add to the actual entertainment value. I actually preferred the divas season to the two seasons after it, mainly because Cole and Mathews were making me laugh every single week; the actual competition sucked, but the commentary almost made it worth watching.

God knows! I like the show, I really do. NXT redemption has actually so far been quite good, when I say good I mean watchable. The thing that pisses me off with it though is why bring back Bateman? Why does he deserve it? He got voted off! That just makes it feel like NXT is fixed, he'll probably end up winning it. The only reason NXT is still running and this endless season is still on is because the WWE are waiting for a TV deal to pop up! Then, I presume they will make a season with Seth Rollin, Ricky Steamboat, etc... that they actually care about.

That's a VERY good question. Seasons 1 and 2 were good, but I knew the moment they announced there would be a season with only divas that NXT's days were numbered. Seasons 4 was awful and I am glad I have stayed away from season 5 with it being as bad as people say it is. Tough Enough easily picked up where NXT season 2 left off.... So why not end NXT and put those guys on Tough Enough instead? It was a better show and people actually watch it. I think part of why it is still around is because WWE were too stubborn to admit they made a mistake. After this season ends, count on there not being another.

Yea i really don't like the show either. i think they should scrap NXT and put a show like TNA Epics but the WWE version. I know they already have the vintage collection (or something like that) but what i would like to see is matches from the attitude, ruthless agreesion and some PG era matches. That would be a good show.
