Why Have a Draft?

HATECHOIR

Dark Match Winner
So i know this topic has been touched on, and went through some confusion lately where people were wondering when the "draft" was going to be official, and we were told after Backlash by Good Ol J.R. Himself.....

So not to ruin Smackdown this week, but i see that MVP is on a segemant backstage. So i guess my question to put out there is...Does it bother you when they have a draft and split it up, but then certain people (example: Miz and Morrison) just show up where they want?

I myself think it should be either way, split them up top-bottom and keep it that way, or dont, but dont have it both ways.

Ive always thought they should keep them purely split no exceptions then at Night of Champions have Raw vs Smackdown....WWE vs World vs ECW Title, WWE vs World Tag Titles, IC Champ vs U.S. Champ, Womens champ vs Divas Champ, then an undercard of various RAW/Smackdown/ECW stars in matches against each other, and you could have Survivor Series be a RAW vs Smackdown vs ECW event with 4 man teams!

Just a thought interested to see what people think.......

Well , i think what your putting out is a great idea, but the draft's soul purpose roughly is to create excitement, which i find great. Your idea is a great idea, but sometimes the wwe needs to "shake things up". What i think is to do ur idea but have a draft once a year.

Well in regards to MVP being on SD on Friday is because its at the Garden and as you know thats in NYC where the View is taped so it was convenient to continue this MVP Sherri Shepard thing. They seem to be holding true to it thought otherwise now that backlash is done

Yeah, people need to stop overreacting. MVP was on SD! this week simply because RAW wasn't in MSG and MSG is where they had to do the Sherri Shepard angle. She wasn't going to fly out to where RAW was. This was clearly a special case and outside of MVP this week they absolutely stuck to the brand split.

i like the draft. it shakes things up and this year it seems they are going to keep to it unlike all the talent exchanges and such last year. i mean does anyone actually remember any matches during the talent exchange initiatives?
without the draft, though ive loved the jeff/matt fued, it would still go on and to be honest wwe cant end fueds anymore in a good setting unless its with the draft. just look at the past year

I know this was close to the draft being it just happened....but I like when a RAW guy or Smackdown guy randomly goes to another show for a week or two, does something small and maybe fights in a match....its something new and mixing it up...

I read that a lot of people are saying who cares that MVP showed up on smackdown, and it was because of this Sheri Sheppard thing.

First of all do most wrestling fans give a f*** about this Sheri Sheppard angle. Honestly how many wrestling fans watch the view or even care who she is.

Second off all it starts with one wreslter showing up on another brand for a "special reason", next thing you know there are a whole bunch of wrestlers appearing on different brands for "special reasons"

I still assume that some night on raw somebody is going to beatdown Hornswoggle which will cause Finlay to show up on Raw

And Jeff and Matt Hardy will end up on each others brands to conitnue there rivalry.

Edge will show up on Raw because of Vicky

For people to start believing the draft means anything they can not have any more wrestlers showing up on other brands at all, until maybe after the Royal Rumble to start any cross brand feuds for WrestleMania.

Fans caring or not caring about the angle has nothing to do with the angle itself. People wanted to know why the match happened. That's why it happened. Sherri likes MVP. Sherri could only appear in MSG. So either A) use MVP on SD! one more time or B) move RAW to MSG with only a few weeks notice which would cost a lot of money and potentially annoy a lot of fans who like SD! more than RAW.

Come on. The special reason was so a celebrity (kinda) could be involved. It's far more legitimate that any storyline reason. This is an overreacting fan. I want the draft lines to be tight as much as the next guy but let's be realistic. One of the biggest names in recent SD! history stuck around for one extra match that announced a week ahead of time. Why must we always make a mountain out of a molehill?

Believe me, there are going to be plenty of reasons down the line to be annoyed at the draft. MVP on SD! for one extra night thanks to a legitimately special reason is showing great restraint on the WWE's part. If anything, we should at least give them some polite applause for strictly enforcing the draft lines as soon as Backlash was over.
