why CM Punk heel is terrible for a PG wwe

I think CM Punk turning heel is the worst thing that wwe can do if they are trying to be more family friendly. I really hope this isn't where his angle is headed, but it would not surprise me at all if he were to feud with Jeff Hardy and WWE being the asses they are using Jeff's substance abuse issues again in a storyline...the other time i remember is when he was found passed out or something in his hotel room, they kind of led ppl to believe it was an OD but i could be wrong. Either way...i really hope if Jeff and Punk feud first of all, that they don't use jeff's personal issues as a storyline, but if they do, then i think have the straightedge character being the heel is an awful thing for the PG audience they are going for. Should people really be booing who should be the best example for their kids...I don't know how legitimate this straight edge superstar thing is, but i think he is absolutely for real and i give him a ton of respect for it. I really don't think kids should be booing him and cheering for someone on the opposite end. Granted Jeff deserves his due for overcoming whatever problems he had and if that is where they take his character then thats a little better, but otherwise i think it'll be a terrible idea for kids and others to cheer the one who has had drug issues and boo the one who is against drugs/alcohol/smoking. What do people think?? I could be completely wrong in that they are not even heading in that direction but it just wouldn't surprise me much if they do.

I think Punk turning heel would be great. He is clearly capable of doing it and I think he will be a bit of a tweener for a short period.

And this is the problem with PG, because it is directed at the younger generation. Creative Decisions are based on the Rating of the show instead of what is best for the show. Comparing, I would love to see a John Cena turn. Have him come out, insult the fans for booing him all those years when he was performing for them and trying to save them from everything. And do you know how wildly over that would be for the fans?

CM Punk to a lesser extent, but it would work. Straight-Edge is a face PG Gimmick, but is soo much more over as a PG-14 and plus Heel gimmick.

thats the thing...i definitely agree that CM Punk would be an awesome heel...and john cena i loved as a heel esp with his freestyles...but if they are going PG then these are two superstars who should be face. I think CM Punk as a character can go much further as a heel, but as a face can be a much better role model for kids, even better than hogan was with the vitamins, training, and prayers (not a bigger star, just a better role model). With the right push punk could have been as much the face of the company as cena is.

Yea, CM Punk turning heel would turn most of the crowd against the guy who is supposed to be the good example for children. Anti Alchahol, Anti Nicotine, Anti Drugs. He would be a good heel, but in this PG world, being a heel is bad, and will turn parent's against wrestling.

But, did anyone else notice on Smackdown. During the opening segment, Jeff said "I don't live my life like you, and I never will!" My eyes got big, because I was wondering if he meant, cashing in the MITB in a sneaky way. Or if he meant it as a "Your straight edge, but I sure as hell am not!" kind of way.

If that was the way he meant it, than, wow, this will be a good storyline.

But yeah, Punk as a heel, bad business move. Bad move for the kiddies. Expect some rating drops.

I like the way they are doing a CM Punk heel turn. He's not gonna be a straight up heel like Edge, Jericho, and Orton. But more complicated, he'll be justified in his decisions, even in they're the least popular (ex. cashing in MITB on Jeff). I hope he doesn't go full blown heel. They should keep him in the middle, we're he'll have some sypathizers and the smart wrestling fans who really appreciate him. This'll make things interesting. Who knows this title reign might actually do a lot of good for Punk. Looks like thats the way its going so far.
