Why are all the older stars going over the younger guys?

Mid-Card Championship Winner
Andre the Giant Battle Royale: It's down to Big Show and Mizdow, who is white hot and has found the perfect opportunity to break out...and Big Show- whom WWE only uses to put over more relevant people- somehow wins...

So Seth Rollins is the new champion, which contradicts my point, right? But cashing in Money in the Bank does not establish credibility and he had the opportunity to defeat Randy Orton and prove he's main event worthy. But nope, despite help from his goons, Randy Orton still defeated him.

Bray Wyatt Vs Undertaker seemed like a given, but shockingly the dead man remains the face of fear...even though we probably won't see him again for another year. Why? Why do they keep doing this to Bray Wyatt? Every time he seems close to scoring that major win, he loses.

John Cena Vs Rusev speaks for itself. Rusev was a dominant heel who seemed unstoppable, but who gets the rub of finally defeating him? John Cena- who really needed it because he's only the biggest star in the company. Many have claimed that this will be better in the long run, but why? Do you remember anything Goldberg did in WcW after his freak ended? Other than ending Bret Hart's career, I don't! Now Rusev is just 'another guy'. Maybe WWE will do something cool with him, but I suspect he's about to enter jobber mode and will become the next 'party giant' like Great Khali, Rikishi and Brodus Clay. This was shit booking, as not only did Rusev lose to Cena, this was following his embarrassing Royal Rumble elimination and not going over Ryback- who promptly went nowhere.

Even 'Sting Vs Triple H' had the elderly clique of the nWo somehow overpower the middle aged DX. The only counterpoint is R-Truth not going over everyone in the IC Title match, but R-Truth rarely goes over anyone anymore. People are sick of the older guys, with Big Show even getting "please retire" chants at his nXt match. So why does the WWE respond with them forcing down the older guard when they had a perfect opportunity to explode with multiple newer stars tonight? I thought this Wrestlemania was good, but the finishes mostly annoyed me.

Firstly, the Rusev/Goldberg comparison is awful. Goldberg was nothing but the streak. That was his entire character and after he lost, it was inevitably going to go downhill. Rusev is a heel and has a lot of depth to his character. He cheats. He retreats. He badmouths the fans and the country he is in. Rusev has something to fall back on; furthermore, he lost to one of the greatest of all time. As long as the WWE have a plan for him then this loss isn't too bad.

The Rollins loss is fine too. Not only does it set up a title match with Orton but he finally got what he deserved but then ended the night as the champ. What a fucking prick, right?

Bryan is in the middle of an incredible run and they obviously have huge plans for the IC belt. Sure, I would have preferred an Ambrose victory but Bryan winning isn't the end of the world. I understand Mizdow not winning the battle royal. He will be even more popular while The Big Show adds credibility to the battle royal. I would have, however, preferred a different winner.

Wyatt losing sort of bothered me but if Taker has one last match next year, a victory here was important. Wyatt can recover from this quite easily because he almost defeated The Undertaker. Furthermore, his promos in the build-up were remarkable.

Reigns' had an impressive showing against Brock. Brock is an awkward opponent because in reality there are few ways to go about this match. What they did was interesting and Reigns now looks like a guy with incredible resilience and fight. Was it 4 F5's, two Curb Stomps and X amount of suplexes? That is some beating. Also, he was actually defeated by Rollins who himself is a younger superstar.

I'll admit heading into the Reigns match, the younger superstars losing was on my mind. Having them all lose would have been bad but Rollins saved that. It shows the WWE are committed to the future even if the futures of Reigns, Wyatt and Rusev are put on hold.

I called this eventuality weeks ago, the bookings put the WWE on the corner and they had to pull the trigger on it. And if you ever really thought that Rollins, Reigns, Wyatt and Rusev were going over, then you really don't know how the WWE works. And that's not to say that I am defending their decision making, merely pointing out that WWE doesn't seem to have a lot of faith in these guys to be the headline attractions that they undoubtedly will be. At least not yet.

I pointed out weeks ago that WrestleMania was just coming too soon for some of these guys. Reigns will eventually be the face of the WWE, there is no doubt about it. He has the look, the talent and the determination to get there. But right now, he isn't ready. Rollins may or may not be ready and I guess we are going to find out in the coming weeks whether he is or he isn't. Wyatt and Rusev are probably closer than Reigns is right now but they will have years and years ahead of them to forge a legacy. It didn't have to be last night that the future took over. Randy Orton, John Cena and Brock Lesnar are still pretty young in the grand scheme of things. You can't simply put over all the new talent and forget about the older guys.

In the end, their time will come and it will be glorious.
