Who's the next superhero character in the WWE?

CM Steel

A REAL American
When I typed the title from this thread I don't mean the Hurricane people.

I mean. Wrestling legends and superstars who went by a superhero-like persona. Like the legend Hulk Hogan as the Incredible Hulk (Captain America as Mr. America), both the Undertaker and the icon Sting as Batman, John Cena as Superman, Chyna as She-Hulk and Trish Stratus as Wonder Woman.

why not the Hurricane? that entire character was thought up because Gregory Helms had a tattoo on his arm of the Green Lantern. so if anything, he should be on this thread as that superhero.

also interesting that you linked Sting to Batman. especially since while in TNA, he did his face paint like the Joker a la Heath Ledger in the Dark Knight.

Man I said in the WWE not TNA. The WWE owns the rights to WCW and it was Sting in WCW who took on a darker persona with wearing all black and walking around with a baseball bat. Get it, basebat "bat"?

I thought it was pretty widely known that Stings gimmick was a rip-off of The Crow?

Sometimes a baseball bat is just a baseball bat.

Undertaker isn't much like batman either.

Are we including Chyna's Avengers porn parody in the list? Cool.

Honestly, beyond The Hurricane, who you've decided doesn't count, and maybe some similarities with The Hulk, I don't find too many of these plausible.

I think a booster Gold character would be cool, though; travelled back from the future expecting to know how everything goes from memory, or the help of a trusty robot side-kick. Could be a good laugh.

I don't see one right now, obviously right now it's John Cena. Roman Reigns is a possibility seeing as he looks like a Superhero with his size, height and unique look etc...so I'd go with Roman Reigns: The Samoan Superman.

Its quite clear that Reigns is being built into the superhuman face of the company. He has the big impact spots that build to the finish and he has all the attributes of a guy WWE would want to use in that role. He has even shown this a few times already like at Survivor Series it was 5 v 2 and the 2 won, 12 rumble eliminations, 3 v 1 fight at the end of the EC match with Wyatt family and in the Wyatt family rematch. When Reigns goes into Beast Mode or Superhero mode with the Superman punches, flying clotheslines, Samoan drop, bottom rope dropkick and Spear it gets the crowd on their feet and draws a reaction. Reigns' Beast Mode spots are the best in the company and would work if he was the Superhero

Hulk Hogan and the Hulk is a bit of a reach. Hogan was never fueled by rage. His "hulking" up was him reaching deep down and pulling out that little extra that made him the super star he was. He was inspired by his fans and the teachings of Hulkamania.

As a comic book fan... you really only got Cena right out of all of these, especially since you're removing Hurricane from the equation for some reason.

Hulk Hogan has nothing to do with either the Incredible Hulk or Captain America.

The Patriot was the closest "Captain America" WWE had.

Undertaker is no where near Batman and Sting was patterned off the Crow.

Chyna was no where near She-Hulk except for body... but big whoop, and Trish was not Wonder Woman.

Seems to me like this is a thread asking who has the potential to be the next HUGE(and sustainable) mega-face.

They pushed the high holy hell out of Ryback..that blew up in their face!
Daniel Bryan is riding a high wave right now,but how long will it last?
IF Reigns does a believable face turn at Mania he might.
Also what should be asked is:
Who can be the next mega-villian??
Remember the good guy can only be as good AS the bad guy can be bad.

Where do you think that the name "Hulk" came from? The heads over in the old AWA dubbed Terry Bollea Hulk Hogan after the 1970's TV show "The Incredible Hulk" from the comic book. There began Hulk Hogan ripping off his shirt enraged.

And as for the Captain America character spinning off of Del Wilkes as the Patriot. Del Wilkes has been the Patriot long before he signed with the WWE in '97. And Hulk Hogan's "Mr. America" persona was a direct spin-off of Captain America in 2003 on Smackdown!

As far as the me comparing both the Underetaker and Sting to Batman, okay I'll give you that one other than the fact that their both dark character's. And your right Chyna doesn't have a She-Hulk type body from staying in the gym 24/7 365. But yeah I still say that Trish was a modern day Wonder Woman. Was there something that Trish Stratus couldn't do?

So it takes a comic book fan to know another one DarksideEric.

My avatar is Eric Draven because the Crow is badass and Sting took the badassery with him in that gimmick. Ill try to add to this with a couple possibilities. Forgive me if this isn't the direction you wanted the thread to go in.

Kofi Kingston & Spider-Man: Both are agile. Kofi is known for high flying skills. Spider-Man webs his way around the city with ease. IDK shot in the dark maybe.

Dolph Ziggler & Deadpool. Both are cocky. Both know they are the best in their mind and aren't afraid to show off. Both seem to be either a love them or hate them kind of character.

CM Punk & the Thing: Only for the catchphrase obviously.

AJ & Harley Quinn: Both crazy chicks. Who doesn't dig crazy chicks.

Paige & Raven: Dark personas and colors. Paige looks good in purple.

People seem to like to compare Joker and Ambrose mainly for dialogue reasons I believe.

My superhero knowledge is minimal, but I tried. And I hope this is what I was supposed to do, if not how about this.

If your wondering about who will be the next person to be superhero-esque based on over coming all odds and always being on top I'd have to say Bray Wyatt fits that description quite well. He is heel currently, but he has superpowers or acts as if he does. Maybe this is more what you were looking for as far as how to contribute.

Seth Rollins is kind of like Spiderman, with all the crazy flips he does while landing on his feet. I think the announcers even acknowledged that.

Has anyone ever seen Stargate Atlantis?.. I watched a few episode recently and the character Ronon Dex is a dead ringer for Roman Reigns, same look, same act, heck they even have the same fight moves with superman punches etc.

Just because names are used doesn't mean the person fits the profile.

Hulk Hogan, aside from name and ripping off his shirt, does not fit with the Incredible Hulk character in the least. Hulk Hogan is not an angry wrestler. His "hulking up" bit has no rage to it whatsoever. Hulk Hogan has no "uncontrollable rage" like Incredible Hulk does. If you want "uncontrollable rage," please look at Ken Shamrock before you look at Hulk Hogan.

Mr. America was a direct spin-off? Why? Because he wore a mask that looked similar? The Patriot fit the actual character of Captain America better, and what relevance does he being the Patriot prior to being in WWE have?

How was Trish Wonder Woman? Aside from being beautiful to look at, what actual characteristics did she have akin to Diana? Diana would never give up in a fight, fought for honor, etc. How was Trish like Wonder Woman? Trish didn't fit the "warrior/amazonian" profile in the least. Beth Phoenix does, not Trish.

lol since when is Undertaker related to a super hero? A comic book superhero at that.

But if your asking for the next big baby face for the next 5-10 years, I would say Reigns will be the guy. Not because WWE is so high on him, but because of some of the moves he does, fans will be eating it up pretty soon, he just has a style fans are going to like. Also Rollins would be another good one. Hes a mixture of Punk and Hardy, with his look and style, once his time comes I think he will be extremely popular and for a long time.

I could see Reigns in that role. I'm interested to see how they'll change up his look to compliment the new role. Would he still dress like he's the Big Bossman's son or would he go with something totally different?

Who on the roster resembles a loose representation of a popular comic book hero?

Sami Callahan is vaguely resembling Solomon Grundy these days. I always thought that Paul Heyman could pull off The Penguin or that Clown from Spawn. I've seen Brock compared to Hulk many times, Hulk's dialogue from Avengers was dubbed over video of Brock destroying the Miz tv set for a Botchamania ending.

The only performer I would call a blatant rip off of a comic book character would be Ryback's obvious likeness to Cy-Gor from Spawn. Both have names based on the juxtaposition of two abbreviated words, both represent the idea of a man ape hybrid. Didn't any of you read Spawn growing up!?

Has anybody bothered to recognize that Batista is Drax the Destroyer in an upcoming movie?

not to be argumentative, but you're the one that brought up Sting in your original post. also, if rumors are to be believed, Sting is in the WWE now. so either way, i feel i was okay using Sting in my response.

what about Rey Mysterio? he wears a mask as does many a superhero. he has also literally dressed up as the following superheroes/villains/movie characters:
Silver Surfer, Daredevil, the Flash, Captain America, the Joker, Avatar and maybe a few others i can't remember.

Super Hero character = won't happen, Owen Hart anyone?

The Hart family are still mad at WWE over the way Owen died, I doubt WWE would risk another accident by having some else trying to be a Super Hero.
