Who should be champion

Today I will be continuing my series of who should be the champion. Today's title is the lightweight title or what became the cruiser weight title. This is how the thread works, you tell me why this person should be the champion if the belt was still around. Please don't tell me how it would be booked wrong, and lets ignore the title was retired with hornsswaggle as the last champion.

Here's some history the UWA/NJPW created the belt in 1983 and was recognized by the wwf in 1997 when the wwf held a tournament which was won by Taka Michinoku. From there a bunch of great wrestlers held it such as jerry lynn, malenko, christian, gillberg, and most notably x-pac. The title lasted until it was blended with the wcw cruiser weight title during the invasion and became that.

Now, a lot of wrestlers have left the wwe because the title doesnt exist such as Juventud Guerrera, kazarian and a few othe current TNA wrestlers. So theoretically you can include people you think would be in the E if you make a valid argument.

The easy answers wold be bourne, mysterio or kaval, but their is no need to limit it to smaller guys since people such as christian have won.

My pick would be Justin Gabriel to give more belts to NEXUS..... Thoughts?

I have to agree with you on the fact that Gabriel would probalbly win it just to add more title to Nexus. There are also a few other guys who would be featured more on weekly television that you don't see as much as others. Jimmy and Jey USO could both go after the title. It would help establish them. If the Hart Dynasty breaks up, then Tyson Kidd could go after the title. Santino would also have a reign or two. Zack Ryder wouldn't job as much because he would have a belt to go after. With the Gate Crashers, Cryme time and SES breaking up Curt Hawkins, JTG, and Joey Mercury could all contribute to the division.

Also Kaz left WWE because they were not going to do anything with the Cruiserweight title. SO if they were pushing this belt back then, they might have Kazarian and a few other on the TNA roster.

Id say if the title was gonna resurface, i'd have Shane McMahon bring it back. im sure Shane O'Mac still has a couple of matches left in him and when he was flying around the ring...or off the Backlash hooks...it was always entertaining. I'd have him come back as champ and atleast get that ball rolling again....

Shane O Mac is a light heavyweight? I thought hte weight limit was 215, I think he's more than that, might not be though.

Anyways, I'll also have Gabriel as champion. Have The Hart Dynasty feud with Nexus and have Gabriel-Kidd having a match to determine the champion. Gabriel will than win the title and I'd love for him to feud with Evan Bourne. Bourne-Gabriel is one of the feuds I would love to see. Gabriel retains the title against Bourne but with the help of Nexus, Gabriel and Nexus cut a promo saying how they have most of the belts in the WWE (Lets Say Barrett is world champion, Gabriel lightheavyweight champion, and any two members as tag champs). The GM makes a rematch with Gabriel-Bourne, Nexus is banned from ringside. Gabriel loses, Bourne is champion, and the feud continues with ultimatley having Gabriel being put over. They than can embrace each other, shake hands, etc. and have Gabriel turn face. With his face turn give him a lengthy run with the title with veterans like Mysterio putting him over. Eventually have Gabriel feud with Bryan and Kaval, in an all NXT type of feud, make it a triple threat match later on between the two, each should have a title reign before this match though. I would also love a guy like Ryder to hold the title if anything, WOO WOO WOO

Are you ******ed? How the does batista make it into the light heavyweight divison? Anyways, i think if Bourne wasnt injured he would be the champ. But since he is i think Gabriel is the secong best choice. If neither of them i would give it to Mysterio and give it some prestige.

Rey can't win it. He's already a 2-time World champ. So, its just out of the box.
Evan Bourne, well, I personally feel he can't win any titles except for the tag or U.S because he stinks. He has no mic skills. Well, that's just my opinion.
So, I think it will probably go to Kaval or Gabriel. Most notably, it should be Kaval to give him some momentum.

I would give it to Kaval. He was the winner of nXt season two but he hasn't done much since then and a title win, especially a newly introduced one, would give him a big boost. One of the major purposes of a divison like the cruiserweight/light heavyweight title division is to excite the crowd and put on entertaining and fast paced matches and not rely much on physchology. Kaval is perfect for this role. He is crisp and fast paced in the ring and makes his opponents look like gold. And being in a position like this allow less focus to be put on his mic skills, which is what he is lacking. Given an opportunity to have a run with gold around his waist and a larger role on either RAW or Smackdown would give allow Kaval to shine.
