Who Runs Raw and Smackdown Now?

Kevin Nash posted on his Twitter account he will be running Raw tonight. No clue if this has anything to do with the current thing they are doing bringing back old faces leading up to the 1,000th Raw or if they might start having random host's until they pick a permanent one again. Also it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to even have Nash as a Raw host/Gm type character considering the Nash/HHH storyline and how it ended.

I believe the GM of Raw & Smackdown will be named as Teddy Long or William Regal or both. To be honest, it seems like these are the obvious choices. They are already on the road with WWE, so why bring in someone who isn't?

If Teddy is made GM of either show or both, I wonder if they will do a role reversal, have Johnny beg Teddy for a job and have Johnny as Teddy's lackey.

If not Regal or Heyman, how about someone who won't meddle in every single storyline? I've never understood why the guy in charge of the show always seems to feel compelled to try and screw people out of wins and stuff like that. You're the general manager. If you don't want a dude to succeed, just book him in meaningless matches every week (note: I'm being facetious; I realize they have meddling heel GMs for a reason and this is an all-too-logical approach, but never the less, it's how I look at it).

Who will run Smackdown? I think Teddy will get his job back as GM of Smackdown with Vince hiring Teddy again as Smackdown GM with him getting his job back

And as for who I think will run RAW, I hope it's William Regal and Regal ends up being the new RAW GM since he doesn't run NXT anymore since Dusty Rhodes is the GM of NXT, you might as well have Regal take over RAW, it would make sense and it would be appropriate too

JL will continue to run both Raw and Smackdown for a good few months yet. On Raw, it'll be argued that the match was never officially finished by the referee, as both were down. Otunga will argue that this match should be void and legal action taken against JL's unfair dismissal, as a result JL keeps his job as the Board of Directors don't wish to have any legal proceedings at the moment.

Paul Heyman should replace John Laurinaitis as GM, because if anything with Paul Heyman he would make such a great heel GM especially with his work as Smackdown GM all those years ago back in 2003/04

my picks

1. Ric Flair/Roddy Piper
2. Jim Ross
3. Paul Heyman
4. Steph
5. The Laptop (to end the story)

Out of this list I think I like Paul Heyman the most but I would definitely want Ric Flair as RAW GM because he would make such a great GM, Ric Flair the Nature Boy WWE Hall of Famer, stylin and profilin, limousine ridin, jet flyin, kiss stealin wheelin dealin son of a gun running RAW, Flair as GM heading into RAW 1000 would be icing on the cake for me

Yes it could be HHH, that the COO will be back in charge until SummerSlam and then after SummerSlam is when a new RAW GM permanent will be announced, I think you could be right

I have a feeling that by the end of RAW tonight, Big Johnny will be rehired as GM of both shows. I see HHH coming out wanting an answer from Lesnar concerning his SummerSlam challenge, which brings out Heyman. He'll say something like, "If you want me to drop the lawsuits and face my client at SummerSlam, he'll accept your challenge under several conditions." One of those conditions being that Johnny gets his job back. HHH will get all pissy, but will reluctantly agree. Hopefully I'm wrong, but that's how I see it happening.

I don't see the new GM being Triple H, as he is busy with the Brock Lesnar storyline, so it wouldn't make sense for him to be involved in both storylines.

If it has to be a Mcmahon, I hope it is Stephanie over Vince, but a surprising return by Shane Mcmahon (I know almost 100% unlikely) would be cool as well.

I don't think it will be Heyman either, as he is just there to be Lesnar's mouthpiece (and I don't think he has signed on for many dates or too long)

Teddy as Smackdown GM and Maybe Vickie as Raw GM would make sense, that way you have one face and one heel GM.

But my overall prefrences are William Regal (who I think always did a great job as GM in the past) or Mick Foley

If it were up to me I'd have Johnny get his job back by the end of Raw tonight. He is the most interesting GM they've had in a long time. Babyface GM's are boring, I have no interest in seeing Teddy Long deflate Smackdown as GM again.

Michael Cole would be a great Raw GM. His character is developing nicely and he's becoming one of WWE's most hated heels. I think he is playing the role they intended for Adamle way back when.

If Edge were to become Smackdown GM he'd have to go heel again. It would freshen up the show and make for a lot of storyline opportunities. Sorry, I just don't see the point in having a babyface GM who's buddies with the faces.

I dont know bout you guys but i think cole would be a nice gm for smackdown, and he could run it from the announers table. Or maybe even have bookee t do it.

As for raw, i think they should have steph run it. If for nothing else it would return her jugs back to tv

New half-baked idea:

The next season of NXT will be for people like Ace, Long, Vicki, Cole, Regal and Foley to compete for the GM role.

It's such a bad idea the chances for success are huge. Book it!

Triple H. He should do what Dwayne and Taker are doing, fight at Mania only. He could make up from what he did before when everyone wanted to get rid of him as head of authority. He would be great as head because of the mic skill, charisma and the "nobody can mess with me attitude."

He would be great runing Raw and Smackdown and can help pass the torch.

Been a Triple H fan, (He was the main reason I watched wrestling to start with) I'd love for him to return as GM. I wouldn't mind having Ric Flair as GM. Apparently he's not with TNA anymore and I think he would be a shock announcement to most fans. I think Ric would be a good GM, Fixing matches, getting involved etc etc...

Another good shout-out would be William Regal, I like what he's been doing over at NXT as their Match-Coordinator I believe. William has always been good on the mic, and would make a good-GM in my mind.

After all these fantastic former WWE stars they could hire as GM, they'll probably just give it to Teddy Long.

I will accept anyone but Paul Heyman his voice is irritating and I feel like putting my foot through my TV when he speaks...

How about William Regal?

He has shown in the past he can be an entertaining GM, and besides doing commentary for FCW he's not really busy. His last stint as GM was cut short because of a wellness violation but I hope that doesn't hold him back from being considered.

A number of people have said Paul Heyman - but doesn't Heyman have some sort of backstage heat with Stephanie (which, of course, means he has it with HHH as well)? I don't seem him having any sort of extended on-screen presence.

Others think Laurinaitis will get the job back, but "the version I heard was," he is being replaced in his backstage position with somebody more allied with HHH. The timing of the firing could have something to do with this.

My thoughts:
Foley, if he's interested in all of the travel necessary.
Triple H - why not; he's pretty much in charge when he wants to be.
I can almost see Flair in the job as well. I'm just not 100% convinced he's a good fit - but then again, who is?
Here's a name from out of the past, if he's interested: James J. Dillon.
And it wouldn't be a list without at least one WTF choice: Vince offers God's own amount of money to get back...Tazz.
(Now watch it be somebody that nobody would have guessed in a million years, like Joey Styles.)

However, my top choice is, anybody but the return of "AND I QUOTE..." (and I don't mean Michael Cole). If they do get somebody who hasn't been on screen in a while, they can claim that he/she was the Anonymous GM all along.

I don't want it to be JBL, because JBL said himself he's not going to be back full-time. So I don't like the idea of bringing someone back for that role knowing he's going to be leaving again.

Teddy Long is useless, he brings no excitement or controversy. He's bland and played out.

Foley sounds great at first, but when was the last time Foley was actually interesting/edgy? Foley sucks now. Plus he already was commissioner a while back and it didn't last long at all.

Edge? Great mic skills, but I don't see him doing it, not right now. He said he didn't miss the travel or any of that stuff, so I imagine he's enjoying a bit of time off. He'd probably be too tempted to get back into the ring, too.

WWE has no intention of capitalizing on a storyline opportunity. I'd bet JL will be back in some form with the backing of the "board of directors" or they even throw Michael Cole into the role and bring in Josh or Regal to announce with King, because you know Vince won't bring back JR.

Honestly, WWE has alot of non-wrestlers available to be GM of either RAW or Smackdown. Edge, Shawn Michaels, JBL, Mick Foley, DDP[if they wanna have the WCW nod], William Regal[who was hilarious, btw] and on it goes. Anyone would be much better on-screen GMs for either show than Johnny has been. It'd be funny if JBL were the GM of Smackdown again since Cole made mention of his title reign when talking about Punks. That made me wonder if he will return. At least JBL can talk well and advance story. All things Johnny sucked at.....

I'd like to see HHH kick-off an episode of Raw -- whichever episode they decide to lock in a full-time GM -- by introducing Jim Ross as the new general manager.

From there, I'd like to see JR say that the days of meddling, intrusive general managers are over. He could announce a few top-tier matches for that night (something that crowns a contender for the Intercontinental title, maybe the tag titles, and maybe a World Championship match or something to make it feel special), then say the days of 20-minute announcements are over with, that anything he has to say can be done from his office. Then, the only time we see or hear from him is backstage cut scenes where he's either discussing something with a talent or announcing a match. Every so often he can walk out onto the stage when chaos has broken loose in the ring to book something, but otherwise he remains mostly behind the scenes and out of the main storylines.

The thing about most of the possibilities -- Regal, Stephanie, JBL, Foley -- is that they all have distinct personalities and histories. JR is more or less neutral. He can play the role of the arbitrator without constantly butting in with his own agenda. He can open shows by announcing that Dolph Ziggler will face John Cena and Daniel Bryan will face The Miz, not because he has some vested interest but because he thinks those are matches the audience would like to see. There would be no reason to have 3-on-1 matches and endless contract disputes and stipulations about people getting fired because those wouldn't be where his interests lie. His interests are instead on putting on the best show possible. No cheap heat, no alliances, no agenda. You can still have drama and storylines and lengthy promos, but they can be cut by the actual talent roster rather than by some new incarnation of the Mr. McMahon character.
