Who is getting sick of hearing Michael Cole refering moves as '' Vintage ''

WWF Wrestling Fan

Pre-Show Stalwart
Is it just me or does Michael Cole use the word ''vintage'' alot grated there are a few wrestlers that he can say it about HBK and Taker but because John Cena has been in the WWE for 7 years his moves are '' vintage '' give me a break whats next a vintage hornswoggle. what do you guys think of cole using the word vintage is it starting to piss you off .

I think it has kind of become his catchphrase in a way. I think it was the RAW after NOC I saw a sign someone had that said...VINTAGE COLE that made me crack up, but I digress.

Personally, I have hated Michael Cole ever since Wrestlemania 15 when he gave away the ending to the Stone Cold vs. The Rock for the World Title. But my softer side has recently began to feel sorry for the guy. I mean, Vince must see SOMETHING in the him, if they keep him on TV. But the majority opinion, I feel like, is that he isn't a very good announcer and pisses a lot of people off.

Anyone else ask why this is in 'important site administration' section yet.

To comment on the thread in general, I'm sick of anything Cole has to say and will at times mute the TV.

I hate that mother effer with a passion. The fact MC is still employed is beyond me. No I dont just hate MC cause it's "popular" I just never liked him. Everything he says sounds forced and nothing he actually means or wants to say. He ruined Big Show's WWE debut with "look King thats Paul White" in his homosexual tone of voice. And who can forget "poop king poop" referring to The Rock giving The British Bulldog a Rock Bottom on a tray of dog crap. Uhg...Sigh...I just do not like him.

VINTAGE MICHEAL COLE HATER!
It doesn't bother me that much. It would bother me less if he saved it for special occasions. It would be funny if he says after Lillian screws up an announcement!

I tend to just laugh whenever he says it. It dosen't effect me in any shape or form, it just so happens to be a catchphrase that Michael Cole uses alot. I don't have a problem with it. To be honest I don't even think Michael Cole is all that bad (I'm not saying that he's good either, before anyone attempts to say I'm a Michael Cole mark), he's no J.R but when he was working alongside Tazz on SmackDown, I actually thought he was pretty good.

I'm sure Michael Cole is aware that him saying "vintage" is causing a lot of people of the good ol' internet to get pissed off. So he's probably only saying it to wind people out! I would do the same thing, it's actually kinda funny that people are getting so angry about it.

I actually like it due to the fact that when wrestlers start using a few new moves more often than there old ones, it's nice to hear a nostalgic quote such as "Vintage Undertaker, or That was a vintage maneuver from the veteran Chris Jericho." It takes you back. Now, I do like how J.R. used to say "That is classic Undertaker offense." Then again, J.R. is the man behind the announcer's table.

The only thing that kind of gets on my nerves about Michael Cole is how vague he can be with the naming of a move. For example, and this is one of my favorite moves to see, is when Kane hits a crisp uppercut on someone, and the crowd "oooohhs", but then Michael Cole deadens the effect with "A right hand from Kane." Unlike, J.R. who would say something along the lines of, "OHH, What a vicious UPPERCUT from Kane, that just really found his mark on [enter name].

I know someone will say, "but J.R. and Cole have completely different announcing styles" yet the announcers add to the flavor of the event as well.

VINTAGE WWF WRESTLING FAN!

Cole is a bland, moronic sounding commentator - I hate his "vintage" catchphrase and in reality he's always gonna be the guy who existed so The Rock could get a cheap pop.

I guess I'm the only one, but I like Michael Cole, and I've never really understood why people hate on him so much. I would generally prefer listening to Cole than to JR screaming at the top of his lungs the same thing three times in a row, or some southern colloquialism, or Tenay trying to convey anything storyline or promotion related. I do agree with the criticism that Cole is often too vague when calling a match, like he doesn't actually know what some of the moves are called. My biggest complaint is just that there's no chemesry between Cole and Lawler.

I think it's because Michael Cole doesn't say "GOD ALMIGHTY!" or "SLOBBERKNOCKER" or "Barbeque Sauce" the way that Jim Ross does. Fans think that Jim Ross quotes are funny but they can't find anything funny about Michael Cole and "Vintage". Hell, Jim Ross saying "Vintage" would sound fucked up.

My question is when did MC start saying "Vintage." I think it is a relatively recent thing, which is good. Pretty soon Michael Cole saying "Vintage" will be "Vintage Michael Cole", the Michael Cole haters will be "Vintage Michael Cole haters," the people who don't like "Vintage" will be "'Vintage' Vintage hating," and Michael Cole can calling them "'Vintage' Vintage haters."

All this "Vintage" talk aside, I don't mind it actually. I put it on the same par as "Slobberknocker" or any other commentator Catchphrase. Just because it doesn't sound as cool as Slobberknocker, doesn't mean it isn't as effective. It lets you know that the move he is talking about is a common move for a specific wrestler, and one that he has used for a long time.

Total "Vintage" count in my post: 10

This is a Vintage Michael Cole Thread. I honestly don't think we can bash this guy enough. I wonder how much of the IWC bashing him actually gets back to him.
