I am replying first without reading any one else's thoughts as I don't want to be affected by other opinions.
I have just created a thread which asks you to rank Spear users and that lead me to think about all other moves that multiple guys do so I will suggested a few and you just say who did it best and why. My picks are the ones in CAPITALS
1. Crossface - Bryan or BENOIT
2. Superfly Splash - Uso's, Tamina or JIMMY SNUKA
3. Shooting Star Press - Brock Lesnar or EVAN BOURNE
4. Leg Drop - FANDANGO or Matt Hardy
5. Frog Splash - Rob Van Dam or EDDIE GUERRORO
6. Bicycle Kick - Sheamus or MATT MORGAN
7. Chokeslam - Big Show, Kane or UNDERTAKER
8. Powerbomb - Undertaker, The Shield, Kevin Nash/Diesel or BATISTA
9. Ankle Lock - Jack Swagger or KURT ANGLE
10. Book End/Rock Bottom - Booker T or THE ROCK
That is the start. When I think of some more I will do round 2. Feel free to suggest others and comment on your selections
1-Benoit did the cross face the best. I've seen a few other people do the crossface, but i think you are confusing the lebell/yes/no lock with the crossface. the two are similar but most definitely different moves.
2-ah, since the move is named after him, have to go with jimmy snuka. however, there were other variations over the years that made the move more visually appealing like Venis' moneyshot, and Eddie G.'s frog splash (best of all imitations by RVD and DLO Brown)
3-Brock Lesnar? The idiot did it once and nearly killed himself. Evan does it best of the two, but during the good times in wcw, Billy Kidman's was the best since it was also the first seen in North America, and he was a tall, lanky guy.
4- I assume you mean a legdrop off the top rope? Again neither of these guys you listed have the best. Didn't Cena used to do a variation where he'd grab his leg in mid air before he landed? And I always thought Brian Christopher had a nice looking version.
5-Answered with 2. Eddie G's the king of the frog splash, all others are pale imitations. RVD's problem is he oversells the impact on himself. I know it must cause both some pain, but no one would be stupid enough to believe that any sane or moderately rational person would perform a move that appears to injure themself more then their opponent.
6-Not sure about this. both guys listed do variations that don't technically qualify it as a bicycle kick, yet I can't recall the last time someone other then these two really used this move. Didn't one of Deuce or Domino use a version?
7-this is tough. first time really started seeing this a lot was with Undertaker. He wasn't the first guy to do it, but he really popularised the move and made it look even more impressive then anyone before. Especially when he'd do the doublechoke slam. Kane has had some very solid slams, but I'd put him a little behind Taker as Kane was brought in to someone mimic taker's moveset so the lack of originality of the move as done by Kane drops him down. Show's CS is impressive but the added flourish of dropping to a knee to make it seem stronger actually makes it look less impressive. And I can't recall if he's ever managed to make it look good on a larger opponent. Both Taker and Kane have pulled it off with style and grace against guys as big as Henry.
A little forgotten, but I also liked The Hurricane's Hurrislam version just for sheer style and character.
8-I never liked Bautista's powerbomb. I'm not usually a fan of sitout bombs anyway. The Shield shouldn't even be on this list as they are terrible and it looks pathetic that it takes 3 of them to do one move. Between Taker's Last Ride and Diesel's Jacknife, I go for Taker, as he has the added little lift to push the opponent higher before yanking them down. Diesel/Nash is sloppy when picking up and then just flipping and dropping them on their backs. I actually liked Jericho back in the do would do a double or triple powerbomb on other light/cruisers, and one of my favorites was Ahmed Johnson's Pearl River Plunge. JBL's version wasn't too bad either, and even Jack Swagger's gutwrench variation is nice.
9-neither. I always liked Ken Shamrocks better then either of these guys. mainly because when Ken put it on the look on his face would just turn utterly maniacal and you could honestly believe he was really trying to break someone's ankle, especially knowing he came from MMA.
10-This is a tough one as the move itself is overhyped and all about style over real substance. The most impressive and impactful versions were actually ones that Ezekial Jackson used to do called Book of Ezekial. I also prefer the much more impressive looking flip bottom that Paul Burchill used, and of course Kazerian used it off the top rope and called it the Future Shock long before wwe used that name for Drew Mac's horrible doublearm ddt. Sin Cara does a nice flip bottom version off the top that he used as his finish for a while. The standard version is a weak cross between a side slam and a chokeslam. Kozlov used a move that came from Sambo a russian martial art, that was similar, but after hooking the move and starting the lift, you twist at the hips, driving the opponent into the mat with more impact, as it actually increased the hang time/distance travelled by the receiver instead of being just up and down.
