Well, thing is that in wrestling you got o believe that most guys don't tap, or it was an old belief. The more you hang on the more the people got behind you, it is like this, when Steve Austin was turn into a tweener and not only a Heel at WM 13, one big factor was that he didn't tapped, The resiliance of the Undertaker was well known because in all his carreer he only tapped once and it was in controversial fashion againts Kurt Angle (even if he was subbmited by Mankind and the Mandible Claw at the 1996 KOTR), How may times has HHH tapped as a face? None, he always tapped out as a heel, never as a face. Edge stopped literally to use the Edgecator because every Main eventer refused to tap to it, even if ti looked like it hurt like Hell. Most people is more driven by a sudden impact than some complicated hold, personally I love submission holds but I guess most people feel it made Wrestlers look weak.
It is different than in MMA, a simple Arm bar can cause serious damage and most fighters will tap on behalf of the personal well-being and you can't blame them for that at all.
In Wrestling, guys are supposed to be almost unbreakable and mostly even if they get hurt their will is what matters. Perfect example is how many people hated when Randy tapped at Bragging Rights with only 5 seconds left. If it would have been MMA as soon as Cena snapped the STF none would have blamed Randy, but in wrestling, at least in my view, it made me feel like Randy shouldn't have tapped with so little time left, it made him look like a b*tch, which is wrong for me because he is supposed to be one o the toughest guy in the world.
