Where Does Orton Go From Here?

Truly Phenomenonal

Here to Show the *****s
After the Orton/Rhodes feud, where does Orton go?

I mean I don't think he is going to go after the World Title, because it looks like Big Show and Henry still have unfinished business. And another feud with Christian would just be stupid.

Orton is too big of a star to have sporadic matches and not a major feud and Smackdown lacks Heels that are near or at Orton's level.

I can see Kane coming back, but I also think that he has unfinished business with Henry as well.

I suppose they could extend his feud with Cody, but in all honesty what else is there left to do?

So my question to you is, where does Oron go next?

With the RAW Supershow concept Orton isn't limited to just having feuds with those on the Smackdown roster, he can also feud with those on the RAW roster too. However, with that opening other option for "The Apex Predator" I see Mark Henry retaining the World Heavyweight Championship and proceeding to defend it, against both Orton and Big Show in a possible Triple Threat match.

I've also heard rumors of a possible Championship Scramble match, when you add the likes of Christian, Sheamus and Cody Rhodes into the fray you could have a very good match right there. I don't see Orton capturing the World Heavyweight Championship within the next couple of months myself, but I do feel as if he'll get something from the Royal Rumble that'll give him a new angle or something. Either way, I'm sure WWE have something planned.

I think a feud with the returning Brodus Clay would not only give Orton something to do, but would also do wonders for Clay's career. Orton can really put over Brodus as a beast that does anything he wants to do. Orton is a fantastic in ring worker so I can really see him giving Brodus, who is also a great in ring talent, a series of good matches. Just let Clay return by attacking him thus starting off the feud.

Either that or a feud with Wade Barrett. There has been a rumor going around that Barrett is indeed Orton's next feud and I think it would be great for Wade and this whole "Barrett Barrage" thing. Orton and Barrett never put on high quality matches in their 2010 feud but I think the reason for that was because Barrett was not ready for big main events like that. So I think giving us a great feud right now would really make up that.

I'm good with Orton feuding with either one of them. I just hope he doesn't go back to challenging for the world title again. Orton's feud with Rhodes was really good and I'm hoping to see Orton help put over another guy next.

This. I think Wade will be his next feud. This keeps him in the main event picture, as Barrett (IMO) has shown that he is main event talent. This would do wonders for Wade and really show him as a threat to the World Title picture. This feud would also show that Orton is still strong, though it's seriously doubtful that anything could change that fact.

However, I disagree with him feuding with Brodus Clay. Nothing against Clay, but I think it would be a mistake throwing him in a feud with the number 2 guy in the company. It's a little too soon, and Orton gains nothing from it.

I think the feud with Cody should be extended because it is doing wonders for Rhodes. Orton definitely needs a big feud after the angle with Cody Rhodes ends though. He could always restart his feuds with Sheamus or Barrett from back when they were all on Raw. Another Christian feud would make little sense with them having just recently ended that feud. Orton could always go back to the world title hunt after Big Show and Henry finish their feud. That is the most likely scenario since the main event is where The Viper belongs. I really REALLY do not want to see another Orton VS Henry match though.

I'd prefer Orton feuds with Wade Barrett. WWE has hinted this with naming them Team Captains for Survivor Series and it'd make a nice feud. They've built Barrett up lately with a bunch of Squash matches and his style would work with Orton pretty good.

That or they give DB the Orton rub but I have a feeling that's going to be the WM28 WHC match.

Isn't it Team Orton verses Team Barrett at Survivor Series?

I would say they would feud until the new year, have a chairs match or something at TLC as the number two SD! feud behind the WHC stuff with Show and Henry. I see Orton as a potential star maker for 6-8 months until moving back to the title picture towards the end of next summer, he has been in the title picture for a few years now without that 'break feuds' with up and comers, all his HHH and Cena stuff had the title involved somewhere and I like to see some wrestlers just out of the picture, like not having Cena involved until after Mania next year is good (for someone like me at least :) )

I would like to see him turn heel again and feud against Daniel Bryan (if he wins the title), against Sheamus, or against a face Cody Rhodes maybe a few years from now. He can also feud with Ted DiBiase to give him a massive push. I just want to see Orton as a heel again because I think that is the most suitable character for him.

To me, Orton acts like a heel. The things he does and the way he carries himself has heel written all over it. But he gets cheered every night, so he's considered a face. The only way I can see him being heel is if he were to attack a legend. I just think anyone else he attacks, he'll still get cheered for it.

well clearly he goes on to captain a Survivor Series team against Wade Barrett, who he hasn't had any sort of interaction with on Smackdown in... well has he ever had any interaction with Barrett since he moved to Smackdown?

Orton and Rhodes will probably take each other out during the match in some way. He will continue to float at the top of the Smackdown card. Orton is still the best wrestler the WWE has to offer, and anyone on the other side of the ring from him will benefit from it.

Probably a feud with Wade Barrett. It would be a good face-heel feud. Also, it would give Barrett good exposure with some main event talent and a chance to showcase his talents(especially his mic skills). I doubt that he would be in the title scene before 'Mania.

Other than that, I see him continuing his feud with Cody Rhodes.

Randy Orton is getting stale for me. I've been waiting for a heel turn for a while (I actually thought it would happen when he was getting more and more violent in his feud against Christian). Perhaps some time next year.

Why would you turn Orton into a Heel against Christian?

when Christian is a HEEL?

and the feud that turned Christian into a HEEL was the his feud with ORTON over the WHC?

Lets not mention the fact Orton is the top face on Smackdown. The WWE has done a great job moving Orton away from the WHC, and away from Henry. Turning him heel would completely ruin everything, not to mention who would he face off against?

Orton is doing a great job of helping to elevate younger guys on Smackdown, first Rhodes, now Barrett. It would benefit Smackdown and the WWE to have Orton continue to work with Barrett and Rhodes leading into WM28. Maybe even have some cross brand action and have Orton mix it up with Swagger and Ziggler to help them get to the next level.

What Orton doesn't need is another title run at this point.
Orton also does not need to turn heel.

Finish the feud with Barrett by Royal Rumble, have Orton get involved with Bryan/Henry. Triple threat at Wrestlemania with Bryan getting the big win (making Henry tap out). I'd also have Big Show be a coach to Daniel Bryan so he's involved at Wrestlemania but doesn't have to wrestle.

I really like what Orton is doing right now. Obviously Barrett is his next feud. Orton has done a great job since being drafted to Smackdown. He had a great feud with Christian, his stuff with Rhodes has been very good, he put over Henry, and has been involved in a lot of quality matches. It doesn't matter if he has the title or not, he is the face of SD and one of the most popular current superstars. I think WWE have hurt guys like Cena, HHH, Orton, Edge a little by having them win titles so often. I dont think even Cena marks cared that he won the title from Del Rio a month or so ago.

Orton has elevated each guy he has been in a feud with since coming to SD. Of course he will always be in the title picture and get title matches. But their are ways he can get screwed out of the title, and has to veer off to feud against someone. They did that plenty of times with Taker before. I think it is probably good long term for his career if they keep the title off him for a little bit.

Eventually he is going to turn heel, go back to Raw and have another big time heel run.

He could very well tread water for the next 5 years, now that he's reached the top. He could make a lot of money, hold 10 more World titles, and end up being boo'd by everyone because he's gone completely stagnant and become another cookie-cutter Superstar.

OR, he could re-invent himself before he follows in the footsteps of John Cena and become a real main event guy worth watching. Triple H did it when he got to the top. HBK did it when he turned from main eventer into icon. Dozens of Hall of Fame guys have re-invented themselves to become something truly special after making it to the top. Orton needs to figure out what works for him and go after it. He needs to find what's going to take him from main eventer player, leader of the Blue Brand...to Hall of Fame icon, challenging for best of the best. I truly think he has all the skills to do it, but it's just a matter of motivation and creativity at this point.

I honestly wouldn't mind a heel turn, but now that's he's the leader of Smackdown that's not going to happen. They need him for the cheap pop every week... It's sad because he's a much better heel. I wouldn't mind seeing a return to the "Legend Killer" gimmick, but using the punt and his new-ish "Viper" character instead of the young, cocky up-and-comer. It'd be different enough, because now he'd be eliminating legends because he's trying to become one, not to work his way to the top.

I think Orton should be turned heel and Christian face. To me, Christian doesn't work as a heel and I've never been able to buy Orton as a face. Christian should be the #1 face on SmackDown.

imo after hes done with wade barrett he should turn heel hes better as heel it just comes natural for him I'm a huge fan of his heel work him as a face is just awful.

Given the Supershow format, we can book some feuds across the two rosters. A Miz/Orton feud hasn't really been done at their current level, or Orton/Del Rio. Both could be extremely entertaining.

Though honestly. I had wanted to see Vickie pick up Mason Ryan as her stable's third member, and have Orton face off with the three of them, but given that Ryan was given (a far too premature, in my opinion) face turn, that's probably a vain hope.

Obviously he is feauding with wade, but I don`t see that lasting past TLC. After that I predict multi-man matches for the WHC.

frankly, wade has never been able to but on good matches unless he has a much smaller and very experienced opponet like D-bryan to sort of guide him through the match. Remember their matches last year. . . The fact their match will happen at TLC in hardcore brawl fashion will hopefully hide this, but overall I see this feud as a waste of Orton`s abilities.

On a brighter note should be a treat for the blood loving, steel hitting fans out there.

Just one question for you, what legends are there left to kill ?
