Where does CM Punk go now?

#heel420

Mr. Wrestling
After the incident on Raw, the possibility of Punk dropping the title is greater then ever at this point. The powers that be have been really close to pulling the trigger on his title reign a couple of times already, could this be the straw that breaks the camels back?

So, where Punk will go following what happened last Monday?

My guess is that if Vince feels burying Punk is the right course of action here, then Cena will take the belt from him at HIAC if he's fit by then. If not then, then i think maybe the next PPV. I hope they don't punish Punk like that because he is really impressive at the minute. If this does happen, then its hard to say what he will do after. He might try a few times to get the belt back off Cena. I can still seeing him facing The Rock at Royal Rumble though, which leads me to believe he might get the title back...or hopefully won't lose it at all.

Hopefully retain, this title run hasn't run out of fuel yet. The way i see it is Cena gets the belt then what? some boring ass fueds till RR? the road to wm will be interesting regardless who has the title but up to then Cena can't bring what CM Punk can to the table right now.

Vince getting involved makes this angle the hottest it's been all year. Why stop?
I say let punk hold the belt till RR then if punk loses then he can work the program with whomever for his WM match.

I don't see them taking the title of Punk because of the incident on Monday night however, I do think that Punk will lose the title at Survivor series to John Cena but, only because I believe that Cena/Rock II should happen at Royal Rumble and not 'Mania and that CM Punk deserves to headline WrestleMania against "Dwayne" this year.

I can't see Punk losing at Hell in A Cell at all, he can't lose to Ryback first try because it would just be unsatisfying for everyone involved and he can't lose to an injured John Cena because he's beat and drew against Cena over the past year for the title when Cena was (kayfabe) at the top of his game. Punk losing at Survivor Series would make it a year long reign (or just out of that.)

What I would have happen is have Cena win by interference (I don't really care how) but, just have Cena win at Survivor Series and then have Punk get screwed again at TLC so, he goes into the Rumble saying how he is the Best in The World and that Cena only beat him on flukes and that he couldn't get a legit win over him (So, it's pure hypocrisy after the past how many months of Punk promos.) Punk then wins the Rumble beats Cena at Elimination Chamber (through Brock Lesnar's interference) Punk claims he beat Cena with ease and the same will happen to the Rock and then Punk is humbled at 'Mania through a grueling match with the Rock (which he wins turning him Champ again and Tweener) and Brock beats Cena in their rematch (Leading up to Punk vs Lesnar SummerSlam... I'd have the booking stretched out ages with Lesnar facing Sheamus or someone like that in between before him and Heyman turn on Punk at for example Money in The Bank.) [Turning Punk into an actual Face in the process.) That's very long term and long-winded and completely fantastical but, it's how I'd do it. But, I'll watch whatever at the end of the day.

I agree with the poster who mentioned about Cena winning the title at Hell in a Cell (if WWE do punish Punk for his slap to Mr Shades by stripping him of the strap)

As a big Cena fan myself i really don't see what use there is at the moment having the belt back on John Cena. Cena is probably looked at by most fans as being bigger than the WWE Title. I suppose Cena holding the title will guarantee that the Title is defended at the main event (The Last match on the card) at all PPV's while the belt is on Cena. I think a better time to put the belt back on Cena would be at WM - Beating The Rock so he can go off movie making again, and Cena evens up that particular fued at 1-1.

I hope Punk won't get buried for this incident, and hoping that Punk holds the title losing it to The Rock at Royal Rumble. Rock then carries the belt into Mania and drops it to Cena. Then who does Punk battle at Mania? Austin? I'd mark big time for Austin/Punk at mania but i don't think it's happening. If it did it would keep Punk's momentum sky high after losing the Title if he were to have a programme with Austin.

Punk was absolutely brilliant on Raw against Vince, Vince was great aswell. Got to respect Vince when he dived headfirst at Punk over the announce table. I was even clapping at that moment at my TV screen.

Hopefully the incident in the crowd on Raw will blow over with not to much of a big punishment coming to CM Punk and he can secure his year long title reign, which i'd say he deserves.

According to reports, at least as of now, there hasn't been any sort of fall out or punishment mentioned. That doesn't necessarily mean that Punk is out of the woods yet.

In WWE's official statement following the incident, they placed most of the blame on the fact that security was extremely lax and that they ultimately weren't where they should've been. Again, that doesn't mean that Punk won't be punished in some way but I doubt it. Punk screwed up by hitting the guy, WWE screwed up by not having enough security in place and the fans screwed up by putting their hands on the guy in the first place. There's so much blame that can legitimately be spread around that singling out Punk for punishment will probably have fall out in and of itself.

Aside from John Cena, Punk is the biggest draw on the roster and he's currently the biggest point of interest in the company. WWE is taking a pounding from Monday Night Football, even more so than usual, so doing anything to derail CM Punk certainly isn't going to help matters. According to every report I've read, WWE is hoping for a huge payday next year with both Royal Rumble and WrestleMania. Win or lose, I think most people are very much looking forward to seeing Punk vs. Rock at the Royal Rumble. While it's highly unlikely that Punk will walk out with the strap, WWE needs him to help deliver that huge payday.

What I'm more concerned about is when he does drop the title, is WWE basically going to give him the shaft by essentially burying him. Once the title is off of him and WM season is over, there's a chance that Vince will strike then. At the same time, however, things are in a state of turmoil backstage with the creative stuff going on. Vince was confronted by a top star and practically bitch slapped verbally in front of other wrestlers and it shook Vince up. It's a new day and age, so Vince is going to have to stop with his typical knee jerk reactions to unpleasant things going on.

I vented a lot of my opinion in the discussions that followed what happened on Raw, but the Cliff's Notes version would really be that I am tired of Punk in general, tired of all the ways he is horrible to his fans, sick of the stories about how he is a huge prick, now I see him attacking fans on live TV which, in the 15+ years I've watched wresting, I can't really recall happening aside from when someone rushes the ring, and as far as where he goes from here, I'm ready to see him nosedive.

I've really been bothered by a lot of things about Punk lately. As an aside, somehow today I ended up reading more about the Lunatic Wrestling Federation, the back yard fed he started out in, and talks openly about on his DVD. I came to find out, a lot of the guys involved with that hate him as well, and they seem to hint that the story about Phil's brother stealing money from the fed isn't completely true, and that maybe Punk had something more to do with it. Ended up finding 3 or 4 of the personalities that were close to Punk in those years on Twitter, ironically enough they appear to still be friends with the "evil brother" Mike (was called Broox in LWF) and they seem to not have anything good to say about Punk. I do take into account that these could just be the people who never made it in the business and they're just jealous, but I kinda don't buy that. Turns out CM Venom, Punk's old partner, had a fight with cancer, and he even makes veiled comments on his Twitter about "why does someone who lies and betrays people end up wealthy and adored, and someone who tries to live a good life ends up with a ticking time bomb in their body" (paraphrasing). I guess Punk was honest in his DVD when he said he doesn't just burn bridges, he blows them up while he's still on them. It appears many people in his past resent him.

Anyways, where I'm going with this, is that I hope after Monday night, Punk's career takes a down turn, and this bitter jerk of a person is no longer on my TV. And this is coming from someone who thought Punk was their favorite wrestler, he's the only one I've bought merch for in the past few years, the main reason I even pay attention to Raw, and I just can't look the other way and pretend that I don't hear the stories of how ungrateful and rude this person acts. We all know there are thousands of people in the world who would do anything to trade places with Punk, and they would appreciate it and the fans that come with it.

Glad to see the report on the front page that Vince was furious after that happened on Raw. Punk seems like one of those people who stepped on too many backs on his way to the top, and he's gonna have a rough time when he meets some of those people on his way down.

Oh please. Since when is it a prerequisite that you have to be a good guy and be nice to deserve to be on top in pro wrestling? Take a look at some of the top stars in the last 15 years, Austin beat his wife, Rock was a jerk to plenty of people, HBK was the biggest jerk on the face of the planet before he was reborn, HHH was a jerk. Need I go on?

Punk should remain right where he is and be elevated about Cena. End of story. They bury punk and he leaves WWE I am done with pro wrestling.

Well, since all of you so-called fans have something against Cena and want him dead for some odd reason (Surprised that you all didn't throw parties when Lawler got his heart attack), I believe that CM Punk will hold onto his title despite his fan altercation, which, I think, should have more pragmatic consequences rather than a storyline switch. At any rate, if WWE does not want to accost a realistic consequence for Punk, they will either make him drop the title or retain it. I think that Punk will end up retaining it because like I said before, everyone hates Cena (I don't. Met him multiple times - very nice and affable guy). So all you Punk fans can stop worrying - PUNK WILL RETAIN THE TITLE EVEN IF HE ATTACKS VINCE HIMSELF.

So, where Punk will go following what happened last Monday?
I don't see it as some career treathening event in Punk's life. He is WWE champion and he will have pretty big roll at least till Wrestlemania.

I agree with Jack-Hammer, after Wrestlemania maybe, but he is(arguably) no2 guy in the company right now so his position is safe for now.

just a thought... what if Punk goes against Taker at wrestlemania? he never loose by the Deadman, and we are not sure we'll have Brock Lesnar vs Taker...

Think about it: Punk (heel or face doesant' matter) is now a main eventer. At Wrestlemania he can fight only top guys: cena (one more? please no...); the rock (a rematch after royal rumble? possible); tripleH (yet done); stone cold (we'd love it, but we know Austin can't have a real match) or a Smackdown top - Sheamus, Orton, Bryan, Barrett –, but why? and how to build up the match?

In my opinion, the best new match he can have at wrestlemania is for the streak.

Punk should hold onto the title until Royal Rumble and drop it to The Rock. He can speak out against proving himself to be worthy of respect for over a year as champion and then having to face The Rock who wrestled once before RR in the last 12 months. Determined to still obtain the respect he deserves, he challenges Undertaker and ends the streak at Mania.

I'd want to puke if Punk got to end the streak. And I generally don't even care about the hype or excitement about that whole thing anyway. But if there's one guy who doesn't deserve it, it's Punk. Let's stop rewarding the guy who shows no appreciation for anything he has ever gotten and already has the biggest ego in the world. I think his head might burst if he can start walking around saying he ended the streak. If WWE wants to keep rewarding the guy who goes on Twitter and tells fans to commit suicide and punches them in the face at live events, that's just lovely.
