Thats right, if I cant get the John Cena heel turn I want, then Ill take the next best thing. I think Daniel Bryan is the next guy to turn heel upon his return to action. This is a major risk and move, but it has gone well in the past before. Brock Lesnar is the biggest heel in the industry right now. No one denies that. But, what happens after Wrestlemania XXXI when Lesnar loses the title to Reigns or Bryan, and then leaves? Who gets moved up as the top heel in the company. They are big shoes to fill, but I think Daniel Bryan is the man to do so because he has the crowd reaction and interest to do it.
I realize this turn throws away a ton of merchandise with Yes and Daniel Bryan is a face that a fan can trust. This is all the more reason to turn on them. I really believe that when Bryan comes back at the Rumble, or whenever, he is going to feel stale very quickly, unless there is a very legit plan to make his face run feel fresh. I think Yes is a great thing, but it is tough to ignore a one trick pony doing the same trick. Eventually, it makes him uninteresting. With the likely chances of Bryan not being to do the same things he used to do, he is probably going to need to change his style in the ring. That may entail more submission and ground work, but it definitely means he may not be able to fly around with all that energy anymore. If he can, that is great. However, if he cant, then he needs to adapt.
If the Yes stint feels stale and his style is already changing, then why not just reinvent Daniel Bryan as a submission specialist who tries to break people? It would make him dangerous, especially if he was able to regain the championship by making Brock Lesnar tap out. If it were me, and this heel turn became absolute. Id turn him immediately. After nearly a year of waiting, fans are begging to chant Yes again. Bryan returns and then takes it away from them so quickly? The fans would turn on him just as fast. Daniel Bryan would not only be back. Daniel Bryan would be back with a big bang and he would have a sea of momentum immediately to work with.
The only flaw I see with it is the balance of heels vs. faces on the roster. Lets just do a head count. By 2015, Reigns is going to be a major player, Ambrose will be a big deal, John Cena will be John Cena and there is always Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus, possibly Cesaro, or even Chris Jericho. There will be plenty of faces to cheer for. The heels would be a Brock Lesnar, Seth Rollins, Randy Orton, Bray Wyatt, Rusev and a few others in between. Daniel Bryan is the wildcard in the early 2015 season when you really notice how the roster is shaping up to look. There are actually more established heels, but the thing is with Lesnar leaving after Mania and Wyatt being on the fence, there are ways to balance everything out.
If it is Reigns who takes the title from Lesnar, who challenges Reigns next? Who keeps Reigns momentum going after he just defeated The Beast. There are options, but what better option than Daniel Bryan? He was stripped of the Championship after all. Bryan would have something to prove, and it would only help Reigns to get the rub off someone like Bryan who would keep his game up after Lesnar. It would establish Reigns and maybe give new life to Daniel Bryan after being out of action for almost a year. I like the idea. I think it brings Bryan right back into the fold as something new rather than just step back into a time that has may have passed. The surprise alone of the turn alone would be an epic moment. The moment when the Yes Movement was shut down by the man who created it, the fallen hero, Daniel Bryan.
