What's your favourite WWE Unforgiven PPV?

Wolf Pac

Mid-Card Championship Winner
My favourite Unforgiven would have to be 2002. This PPV rekindled my interest in the WWE again. Some things happened to me in 2002 which made my life go tits up and my brother's friend, who always recorded the Raw's/SD's & PPV's for us, had went away, so I wasn't able to watch the WWE anymore. Because of the direction my life went in and cause I couldn't get any WWE events, my interest in the WWE died a little bit until I got the Unforgiven DVD the next year & watched it and suddenly it sparked my interest in the WWE again then I started getting more DVD's until we actually got Sky in 2004 and I could watch Raw/SD's & PPV's again.

The opening contest with Booker, Kane, Buh Buh & Goldust against the Un-Americans was decent and ended with a feel-good moment for all Americans. Edge/Eddie & Flair/Jericho had great rematches from Summerslam, Eddie was over as hell with the crowd and Jericho got some nice heat with the way he cheated Flair out of the match. 3 Minute Warning vs. Billy & Chuck didn't do anything for me but the HLA segment later on with Bischoff & Stephanie had me in chuckles. Angle & Benoit delivered another masterpiece. RVD put up a good effort against Triple H and I did not see Flair's heel turn coming but it was the start of something sweet (Evolution). Even though Lesnar vs. Taker ended in a no contest, their bout was alright, actually I loved the ending to the PPV but I don't expect many others to and I also loved their pre-match video promo too. Adrenaline by Gavin Rossdale (XXX movie theme) was a great theme song for the PPV aswell.

Unforgiven 2008. If I'm not mistaken, a nobody GM named Mike Adamle introduced the Championship Scramble Match in this PPV, leading the other two GMs to make this match as well, making it a total of three. It was also one of the few PPVs that I correctly called the end result of at least the three Championship Scramble Matches: with Triple H retaining his WWE Championship and with two new champions. I also liked most, if not all, participants in each match-up.

There are many different Unforgiven PPV I liked. 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, and the last one in 2008. 2007 was my first one I ever bought on PPV. (All others, besides 2008, on DVD) Unforgiven 2007 was the fourth PPV I ever bought since my parents allowed me and my brother to watch wrestling full time again. So, normally you would think since this one meant something to me. But my personal favorite would have to be Unforgiven 2003. I mean, in some fans eyes, you had the dream match on that card, Triple H vs Goldberg for the World Championship. I mean, you had that feeling that Goldberg was going to win, but you just had to see the match to believe it. That PPV also had one of my favorite gimmick matches between Shane McMahon and Kane. Sometimes I wonder what Vince thought after all those huge bumps Shane took. Yeah, I know they're protected spots, but its an interesting thought. That match was one of Kane's best they really told the story from start to finish of their personal issues. But then they kind of let us all down with that Ambulance Match two months later. And along with these to giant matches, you had the future star, and up and comer in Randy Orton facing off against Shawn Michaels. That match was really good. The finish could have been done differently, but it was really a solid outing showcasing Orton's potential. Knowing, despite the attitude problems, he was destined to be the 9 time World Champion he is today. My only problems was the Al Snow and Coach vs J.R. and Lawler match. I mean, I didn't like the Steiner vs Test match very well, but it wasn't a train wreck either so, I mean it could have been worse. This event, overall, really showcased really great wrestling. Whether, it was the Divas tag match, the Handicap Tables Match, or the hidden gem of the IC Title Three Way between Christian defending against RVD and Jericho. It was action-packed and filled with the best matches of the fall. And, that's why 2003 would be my favorite.

My Favourite Unforgiven was 2001. it was during the Alliance of WCW and ECW Invasion of WWF.

1. The Show started with a very good four way elimination match for the wwf tag titles between the Dudleys, Hardys, lance storm and hurricane and big show and spike Dudley.

2. then there was a decent match between saturn and raven

3. IC Title Match between Edge and Christian, which was not there best match between them but was still quite good

4. wcw tag titles between Undertaker and Kane vs Kronik, good hard hitting match between 4 big guys

5. then there was a Great RVD vs Y2J match, this was a great fast paced hig flying match between 2 great wrestlers

6. WCW Title match The Rock vs Booker T and Shane Mc Mahon in a Handicap Match, this was very good match most of the action was left up to Rock and Booker just like it should have

7. Great WCW Us Title match between 2 of favourite midcard talents Rhyno vs Tajiri

8. WWF Title Match Kurt Angle vs Stone Cold. This was the Match of the Night, this was Angles 1st Babyface run and i was loving it. Kurt Angle Beating Austin for the title in Angles home town of Pittsburgh and the great scene Just after Angle won his family ran in the ring and lifted him on there shoulders to clebrate with Kurt holding The Title up High.

and JR anf Paul Heyman were Awesome on Commentary best Commentating team i have ever heard

I was a big fan of Unforgiven 1998, the one with the first ever Inferno match, even though it was obvious Taker was going to win coming off his usual win at Wrestlemania.

Unforgiven 2006! John Cena vs Edge for the WWE title in a TLC match. This match was incredible and John Cena won. This was their last match until later on i believe.

I'm going with Unforgiven 2003. This was one of the first WWE dvds that I bought and it was a good card. This was the night that Goldberg won his first and only title in WWE when he beat Triple H. Also it featured an awesome last man standing match between Shane McMahon and Kane when Shane jumped off the titatron and missed. Other highlights were Orton vs. HBK for the first time and an exciting triple threat for Intercontinental title (when it meant something) between Christian (c), Chris Jericho, and Rob Van Dam.

One of the best PPVs that year

Man I forgot about Unforgiven 2003, my first thought was Unforgiven 06 because of the TLC and HIAC matches but there were alot more matches I cared about on the 03 show.

Unforgiven 2006 is my all time favourite PPV outside of WrestleMania's

Johnny Nitro vs Jeff Hardy for the Intercontinental Championship
I was very excited when Jeff came back a few weeks earlier and this was his first PPV match since his return, he lost but it was a good match.

Kane vs Umaga Ok this match wasn't great and ended in a double count-out but Umaga was still unbeaten at this time and Kane was the first guy you believed had a chance to beat him

Spirit Squad vs The Highlanders for the Tag Team Championships
Toilet-break

DX vs The McMahon's and Big Show in a Handicap Hell In A Cell match
This match was brutal and very funny, the match ended when Michaels elbow dropped a chair onto Shane's neck causing him to cough up blood and Triple H broke a sledgehammer over Vince's back, Triple H was also legit bleeding from his ear. Funny moments include the way DX was keeping Big Show at bay and when they shoved Vince's bloody face up Big Show's arse and it came out clean.

Lita vs Trish Stratus for the Women's Championship
Trish is my favourite Diva of all time and this was her final match in her home town for the Womens championship, if she won she would also break the record for most Women's championships won, the biggest pop of the night was when she locked in the sharpshooter.

Randy Orton vs Carlito
This was a decent match but it was the first time Orton ever caught anybody in mid-air with the RKO, when he does it now you expect it, but when he did it on this night, i jumped out my seat.

Edge vs John Cena for the WWE Championship in a TLC match
Unbelievable match and Cena put in his fair share of work, The F-U off the top of the ladder, through 2 table's was the stand out moment, but the whole match was incredible, i believe Edge is Cena's greatest rival and Cena is Edge's greatest rival and this was by far the best match they had. Edge being announced in his home town as the WWE champion at the start of the match with tears running down his face was also a great moment.

I'm tempted to say 2002. Chris Benoit and Kurt Angle had another one of their great matches in their rivalry. Triple H vs. RVD was a very solid match. Taker vs. Lesnar was a big main event. My answer for my favorite is 1998. The undercard was ok but I'm basing my choice on the two big matches. Undertaker vs. Kane in an inferno match was a sight to behold. This was the first inferno match and I really didn't know what to expect. I hated the idea when the match was announced. I thought these two were going to have to be way too cautious and not be able to delivery a good match. Maybe it was because my expectations were low but I really enjoyed the match a lot. They did a great job with that gimmick and it was quite a visual. The main event was great too. Austin was at his peak in terms of popularity and Dude Love was a great choice for his first opponent as champion. I think the two big matches from 1998 are enough to make it my favorite Unforgiven.

A whole lot of them were great. Unforgiven was one of the better generic WWE pay per views in terms of who would win or what matches would take place. I personally hold Unforgiven 1999 as my favorite for a couple reasons; it was my first ppv ever "unscrambled" when I somewhat began watching wrestling. This ppv gets a lot of flack or Al Snow's match with Big Boss Man, but I loved the whole show.

Tough choice for me as my Top 3 Unforgivens are 2000,2003,and 2006.

2000-Fatal 4 Way for the WWF Title with The Rock,Undertaker,Kane, and Chris Benoit. Cage Match for the Tag Titles with Edge & Christian vs The Hardy Boyz,Chris Jericho/X-Pac,Hardcore Invatational,8-Man Tag,HHH/Kurt Angle, and Stone Cold Steve Austin's Return.

2003-HHH/Goldberg for the World Title,Kane/Shane in LMS,3-Way for the IC Title,Dudleyz/La Resistance in a Tables Match for the Tag Titles,Lita/Trish as a Team,Test/Scott Steiner fighting over Stacy,HBK/Randy Orton. Only dud I guess was the JR/King vs Al Snow/Coach but its not the worst thing ever. Best RAW only PPV IMO.

2006-Edge/Cena in TLC,DX vs Mcmahons/Big Show in HIAC,Trish/Lita's Classic for the Womens Title,Randy Orton/Carlito,Nitro/Jeff Hardy for IC Title,Kane/Umaga.

I am going with 98 too. The main matches were enough to make it my favorite. The Inferno match was awesome and the first of its kind. It didn't come off great, but it was still visual enough to make it awesome for me. I also loved Dude Love as Austin's first opponent as champ. Given that he was aligned with Vince I thought maybe Austin would get screwed and it left the ending in doubt for me. These two matches alone put it over the top as my favorite.

GOOD POST!

I didn't realize how good almost every Unforgiven was until I looked them all up!

I'd say every one from the In Your House - 2000, was GREAT!

2003 also had alot of really solid matches too.

But I gotta go with 2006! The first thing I think of after hearing Unforgiven is the TLC match w/Edge. And that HiaC w/DX!

The only one that had TWO stand out main events IMO! (98 w/ Inferno & Dude Love/Austin is a close 2nd)

I'll be the only one to say 2005.. but that's only because I was there live. The first (and so far, only) Pay-Per-View here in Oklahoma. Decent card. Nothing too special though.

Ric Flair def. Carlito for the Intercontinental Championship

Shawn Michaels def. Chris Masters

Matt Hardy def. Edge in a Steel Cage match

John Cena vs Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship could have been awesome.. but main events, especially PPV main events, ending in DQ always leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Besides all that, I too am going with 2006.

Jeff Hardy's first WWE PPV in over 3 years, DX vs The McMahon and Big Show in Hell in a Cell, Trish Stratus' retirement match, and the classic Cena/Edge TLC.
