What's Next For Riley?

So now that the Miz and Riley program looks like its over and it looks like Miz will start a program with Rey Mysterio, I ask whats next for Alex Riley? I would personally like a small program with Swagger for like 3 weeks since they just had a match on Superstars. This can start by having a tag match Morrison/Riley vs Truth/Swagger. Swagger and Riley wouldnt be a bad match to start off the SummerSlam card in my opinion either your thoughts?

I don't believe the issue between Riley and Miz has been settled yet. Sure, it is winding down and has lost some of its steam. I just think letting it go out now would be a deflating end to a once hot feud and leave Riley in a tough spot, as where does he go from there?

Riley dominated in the beginning, but Miz has gotten the better of him over the past couple of weeks. If Riley isn't allowed a big victory to end this once and for all, he is dead in the water. Just listen to the crowds lately, his initial heat is dying off. There isn't that same feeling with him that there was a short time ago.

Riley needs to be given a couple of feuds which sees him come out on top to give him the credibility to move forward. Without it, he becomes just another guy in the logjam that is the WWE midcard.

The New Nexus is dead in the water without CM Punk. My suggestion would be to feed them to Riley to set up Riley vs. Mason Ryan down the road. I'm not saying this is a foolproof plan, but could give him the rub of fighting against the odds of being outnumbered. An eventual win over a monster like Ryan could be what is needed to give Riley a shot to become an upper card fixture.

I would like to see Riley actually chase a title. Remember in the draft when he was moved to Smackdown, but they he stayed on Raw? Well, this is a perfect chance to get him back on Friday nights and challenge for the Intercontinental title. The only problem with this is that Big Zeke is a face, so I think he would stay on Raw and start a rivalry with Ziggler, who doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Unless Evan Bourne is currently chasing the title, then Alex Riley will probably move on to feud with Ziggler. Riley's got a lot of charisma and a lot of potential to be a fan favorite. But I absolutely hate the fact that he's buried Miz in their feud because they honestly should have not done that to someone who they picked to beat Cena in the main event of Wrestlemania. Sure, give him a win in this feud, but not 3 in a fucking row. Miz has lost a lot of credibility and I'd have to guess he will never be champion again, or at least not for the rest of the year.

Don't get me wrong I'm a huge A-RY fan - especially in his NXT days - IMO he's a way better heel

So I'm sad to say if he dosnt start a program with ziggler for the u.s title...all I see is main eventing superstars especially with morrison making his return as top mid card face

Riley is still a bit green so having him improve in the ring to the point where they can trust him fully is the key first. I would let Riley and Swagger run a program for a bit, nothing major. We know Swagger can work in the ring, so it should help Riley out. After that blows off I'd set him up with Ziggler. Ziggler, like Swagger, is damn good in the ring and should be able to hide whatever flaws Riley has. It also allows Riley to work with guys who will make him look better and his greeness is not as likely to show up.

Riley doesn't need to chase the belt. He just needs a strong rivalry. Look at Smackdown's current build up rivalry between Sheamus and Barrett. Both guys deserve to be in the title hunt, but with the belts occupied in storyline's they are at least going to feud with each other. Do the same with Riley. Give him someone to go to war against... just week in and week out, trading out victories... that could easily drag out for 3 months and let the final match be a gruesome match with no way of "cheating". Put them in a cage or a hell in a cell match. That way when Riley comes out on top he is battle tested. He'll prove to the fans and the management that he is ready for a belt on his waist.
Or there's always the struggling tag division... you could put him in leagues with someone and use him to help boost the tag division as well as boost himself. But that's another conversation for another thread.

A-RY does need to start feuding the ziggles!! He his hot right now better keep it up with ziggles!! As far as the crowd goes for the most part people are dead fish you know.. Amerian crowds are spoiled when was the last time the WWE had a ppv outside of america?

That tag program you mentioned sounds like a good idea too. Personally I would have him chase the US title for a while then give him a run with it. Zig and Riley look like they could work some impressive matches against eachother. I'm not so pro putting him in a tag program because he already had Miz in his corner for his entire career and its time for him to explore singles competition.

Well Riley did good in his feud with Miz, constantly beating him up. That got him over enough to stay relevant for a bit. He likely seems to be headed for some random filler feud before getting lost in the shuffle. How about a feud with Swagger or perhaps a US Championship opportunity? He would not have to win either one but he will probably fade into obscurity if he does not win whatever feud he is put in next because people will lose interest in rooting for him.

Actually, I'm all for a feud between Riley and Swagger. Both are capable of putting on a decent match at least and would help keep the both of them relevant instead of having the both of them fade away. From there, I'd have Riley move onto a US title feud with Ziggler. At the same time though, I'm not sure if I want the Riley/Miz feud to end as I personally liked it and I still feel they both still have unfinished business.

What? Commas, grammar, spelling, and punctuation, please. I have no idea what you are trying to say...something about a fatal 4 way but I'm not sure who you want to win it, and then something about bourne and smackdown? You lost me, son.

That aside, I think if his feud with the miz is finally over, like others have said, a feud with swagger or possibly ziggler makes sense. Swagger seems the better bet right now, and if they let Riley come out on top, then probably a feud with ziggler for the US Title.

I think Swagger is a bad choice for Riley. Swagger seems to not generate heat unless he turns on an oven in his house. He's had his moments, but remember he just spent 4 months being the ass boy of Michael Cole. He can't seem to generate momentum, or keep it on the rare occasions he ever gets it started. I saw a Raw leading up to the 2010 Royal Rumble when he was offering challenges for over the top battles, and he came out to crickets. No one cared. And I feel like nobody cares still.

Ziggler makes sense and the two of them could have a great feud. But what do I think happens for Riley next in reality? Mid-card obscurity, Curtain jerking, and jobbing to bigger, badder dogs.

I don't no what's next for him, maybe tna or something. The guy just sucks. His music just sucks to me, his plane name, and he couldn't think of a better more creative finisher than edge's or Gangrel's DDT. After watching his wwe tournament match with the Miz i don't see the big deal. That match was incredibly sloppy, and botchful you would think those two never competed against each other. Go ahead and defend him people.

I see him having a program with either swagger or mcintrye and trade wins between each other until riley wins a no1 contenders match and wins the us championship so that ziggler can get pushed to the main event and Riley takes the championship and stays in the midcard postion to wwe think he is ready for the main event

I don't really care what is next for Riley and I don't know too many people that do. He had a nice little deal with Miz and then BAM! Nothing. They could cut him tomorrow for all I care, and I bet that not a single person would miss him. He's too vanilla, and it is apparent they have no further plans for him.

You can't possibly believe what you wrote here. WWE clearly has plans for Alex Riley. He has been in a months long feud with one of their bigger stars in Miz, a feud which has seen him win multiple matches against the guy who main evented Wrestlemania. I don't see how you could logically come to your conclusion.

Granted Riley may not be heading for the World Title, but he is a guy who will remain in a midcard position at worst. His feud with Miz isn't even officially over yet, as there has yet to be a true blow off match between them. You are burying the corpse before its even dead.

The fact is Riley garnered tremendous reactions at the start of his program with Miz, and still gets average to good reactions now on a given night. The guy is still very young, and thus green. Let's give him more then 4 months as a singles wrestler to see where he can go with the push he's been given so far. He has the looks and physique that WWE seems to favor. That doesn't guarantee success, but is certainly useful as he can be portrayed as a legitimate threat to anyone on the roster.

And by the way, my girlfriend would certainly be one of many who would miss Alex Riley. Quite frankly, he's the only reason she agrees to watch the show with me.

... Correct me if I'm wrong here, but... SS is the 14th right? So all this talk about what someone should be doing on Raw until SS, and all this back and forth, etc is the exact same thing as saying "What should they do next week?"

Whatever. I don't really care what Riley does, I'm really not that interested in him. I'd probably prefer to see him feud with "Silent Rage" for a while. When the hell is he going to start wrestling on either Raw or Smackdown anyways?
