Many different opinions on the current Championship situation.

Would you rather see the WWE/WHC championship and IC/US championship merged, or add the Cruiserweight/Light Heavyweight championship to the collection?

Personally, I'd rather see the latter of the two, because it could work out. The titles could make the more significant titles become more prestigious if there is a different type of title for every type of person/character in the WWE.

I don't agree with merging the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships just yet. It will take away the significance from either RAW or Smackdown, depending on which show loses the belt, I know that would make the actual Championship a duel branded belt but still, it really would leave a lot of great Superstars without oppurtunities due to the fact that it would constantly be the same main eventers taking up the spots.

And, although I don't personally have any enthusiasm to watch a rebirth of the Cruiserweight division as it died in a tragic fire back on Smackdown in '07, I do think another Championship could be added. The one that I miss...

Bring back the WWE European Championship. It would mean more to hold the European Championship and be a lesser tiered Superstar on the WWE roster, seeing as a great, like for example, Shawn Michaels was the inaugrual holder of the belt but it would actually mean something due to the likes of people that held it.

What would you rather have, the Championship that has been held by HBK or the Cruiserweight Championship, which was held by Hornswaggle? Easy decision.

I agree with dragon the last thing they need to do is have less titles....there is no tag division so they should bring back some old tiles maybe the hardcore title and i also am a big fan of the European championship. It would make way for another mid card guy like maybe Zach Ryder to have a chance to hold some gold. If you think that's a bad idea remember al snow held the European strap and although it was funny he was pretty unworthy. Either way the wwe needs to stop taking things away and give us something back adding this belt would make us care more about guys like john morrison, hawkins, and ryder.

dont denounce the lightweight belts sir.
lightheavyweight champs-benoit,malenko,jushin tiger, ultimo dragon,jeff,xpac,tijiri...some great names there...oh and dont forget christian in his first wwf match,

cruiserweight champs-jushin tiger,malenko,rey,ultimo,y2j,EDDIE,Juventud Guerrera,psychosis,matt hardy...

those are still some big names...just saying...

Why not just make a new belt instead of bringing back old ones?

because who would hold it to make it worth something cena and orton have titles already, why would someone want a new title that wasn't already bleed and fought over. Something that hbk touched is worth more than a new belt.
A big reason people want titles is they want to be compared to greats who have held that title.

The inaugural holder of the European Championship was the British Bulldog, he won it in the finals of a tournament over Owen Hart.

Now, I agree that the people who held the title in the past, dose mean somthing, but the Cruiserweight title has a whole list of greats that have held it, just look at Nero89's list.

Ok, so the Title had a bad end, but that's know reason to give up on it. The Cruiserweight title gives you more than just another belt, it gives you a new division. You can get guys like Bourne, Bryan, and Sin Cara together, create whole new rivalry's and factions. There is no difference between the European, IC and US belt. If your going to add a new title, it need to add something new to the WWE, and the Cruiserweight belt would do that.

Bear with me haters out there: I would like to see the following "editing" of the title situation:

Unify the WWE and World titles to make the WWE World title, the ultimate gelt. Defended on both brands on special occasions, the "ultimate" champion.

Create a heavyweight title for Smackdown and Raw respectively, called the Smackdown and Raw heavyweight titles (respectively)...the top belt for the brand! Once a year, the champ of Raw will face the champ of Smackdown to determine who will face the WWE world champ (perhaps at Wmania?)

Other titles: IC title stays, US title stays. Tag team titles stay. Unify ladies titles and bring back cruiserweight title.

In total, each brand will have their heavyweight champ (for example now it would be Cena on Raw and Orton on Smackdown), a secondary singles champ (currently US champ Kofi Kingston on Raw, IC champ Barret on SD) and a tertiary title (for example Ladies Unified title on Raw and Cruiserweight title on SD). Tag team champions and WWE World champion would appear on both brands, but only on special occasions.

Any thoughts?

My mistake, Shawn won it from Davey. Apologies.

He was including the reigns of those of NJPW, something which I and WWE definitely wouldn't include. As for the Lightweight, that is, which was held by people like Crash Holly and Scotty 2 Hotty, not two great names of the wrestling business. Only memorable through their time in the Attitude Era.

Hornswaggle isn't the only less than worthy title holder. Funaki, one of the biggest jobbers in WWE history, and Nunzio also held the Championship. I could go on, the WWE Cruiserweight Championship doesn't have a whole host of great former Champions. Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko, yes, but in the last year of its time, it was destoryed by being misused.

WWE has too many wrestlers that get neglected as it is , if you merge titles and cut the # of titles in half thats even more neglected and under-rewarded/showcased wrestlers on the roster

So I'd have to go with adding the cruiserweight title , they have Sin Cara , Rey , Evan Bourne , Justin Gabriel , Chavo , Daniel Bryan , John Morrison , Cody Rhodes , Tyson Kidd , Yoshi Tatsu , Zack Ryder , Trent Baretta , and Kofi Kingston ALL on the lighter side and most of them being neglected

Which now that I think about it a cruiserweight title could once again be totally viable with all of those guys

I also think they should work in some kind of midcard title for the divas to make it have the same work your way up feeling that the guy wrestlers do

The Cruiserweight division wasn't even used well remember? They had like 6 minute matches. Gregory Helms had it for a year because WWE didn't care about it. And the fans really didn't care either except when Rey Mysterio was the champion or in that division.

What makes you think they'll care now? The Cruiser title in WWE was a total joke.

I'd rather see more tag teams and a better tag division.

Here is the link the the WWE official page on the history on the Cruiserwight title. Now, I don't want to spoil it for you, but let me just pull out a few names: Chris Jericho, Dean Malenko, Rey Mysterio, Billy Kidman, Tajiri, Matt Hardy, X-Pac, Lance Storm, Eddie Guerrero.

Hornswaggle isn't the only less than worthy title holder. Funaki, one of the biggest jobbers in WWE history, and Nunzio also held the Championship.
First off, has anyone else notice Nunzio refin some of the diva's matches?
anyway
The Great Khali is a former Heavy Weight Champ, should we get rid of that belt because he was a terrible champ? Every title has it's share of losers champs.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship doesn't have a whole host of great former Champions

Now the other thing about the Cruisewight's, and this may blow your mind, they are smaller than heavy weights. That's the whole point about the title. You take the smaller wrestlers, who have trouble competing against the bigger wrestlers, and you have them fight amongst themselves. It give you a whole new, existing division. With a lot of these younger smaller wrestlers you have now in the WWE, we could get some really exciting matches, and this will give them something to fight over.
