What was your favorite Video Package Hyping a Match?

Occasional Pre-Show
The question is real simple. I am a big fan of WWE's Multimedia Department as far as Video Packages hyping matches go. The best video packages are the ones that air the night of the PPV showcasing everything that's happened in the feud up until that point.

My favorite video package or promo hyping a match was the one that aired for Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker at Wrestlemania 26. I didn't choose this one because I'm a major fan of either, but I really liked how the video package captured Shawn Michael's obsession with defeating Taker. Running up that Hill by Placebo was stuck in my head for weeks after seeing this video. I have probably watched it on youtube like twenty times.

So how about you guys? What video package hyping a match sticks with you? What is your favorite and why?

P.S. I thought it was really cool that Shawn Michaels mentioned one of the guys who works in Multimedia and thanked him for always making them look better than they really are. I thought that was cool and I think it's a thank you that rarely happens.

Recent one for me would be CM Punk vs John Cena was MiTB IE...

I love how it was dominated mainly by Punk and frankly it was just cutting up promos in which Punk said a lot of stuff I agreed with. It made the match feel so vital and critical and I simply loved it.

If we are talking of all time, while frankly I know someone people will hate me saying this, I like...

I loved the heel Austin, vs Kurt Angle during the alliance days and, while I wasn't a huge fan of Austin's heel character after seeing him be so dominate and strong for so many years seeing him be scared of someone, in this case Kurt Angle, really made me think Kurt was one hell of a badass, Kurt intensity also helped at lot as well.

I liked the Triple H vs Kevin Nash in the sledge hammer ladder match at 2012. It really made the feud look better than it actually was. It told the story of two long time friends and members of the Klique having a falling out. It had some good quotes from the two like Triple H saying "I ain 't worried about my broken neck, Kevin Nash broke my heart". Also Nash saying "I took your sledgehammer and used it against you, that's how you play the game".

for me, there is no contest, this rivalry defined a generation and headlined 3 Manias. Truly encapsulated what pro wrestling can and should be. Everything from the song to the match to the follow-up the next night on raw was nigh on perfect.

Hands down.

Their WM19 one might be a close second.

Honorable mentions are the Vengeance 2002 main event one between Rock, Taker & Angle. And last years HIAC match between Taker and HHH.

This is by far the best promo IMO... I remember watching that and getting goosebumps. It was such a good feud and with two of the best! and man It's still my favorite WrestleMania.

Rock and Austin was so good and the song was perfect for it. I also like HBK/Undertaker from a couple years ago.

If I had to pick one video package used before a match, I'd have to say Randy Orton vs John Cena in the Iron Man match from Bragging Rights 2009. It was so interesting because it summed up their rivalry going all the way back to the summer of '07. It made a statement, which it had to do. It made sure that everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY, knew that this was the last time that they would face each other for the WWE championship. But knowing WWE, they'll forget about it eventually  . It made me want to see this match, and it also gave the feeling that everything was on the line in this epic showdown.

Austin vs Rock at Wrestlemania 17 comes in a VERY close second place for me also..

But kudos to WWE for always making awesome video packages!

Armageddon - The End Is Here (Love the nuclear bomb footage going off)

Rock V Austin - My Way

Cena V Miz - WM 27

Those 3 stick out by far. I still watch the promo vid for WM17. I haven't seen The Miz & Cena since WM27 but I remember seeing it live going I love this.

To name a few...

1 - Brock Lesnar vs. Kurt Angle vs. The Big Show for the WWE Championship at Vengeance 2003

2 - Triple H vs. Booker T for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 19

3 - Kurt Angle vs. Rey Mysterio vs. Randy Orton for the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22

4 - The Miz vs. John Cena for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 27

5 - Edge vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions 2007

Stone Cold VS The Rock - WrestleMania X-Seven.

This is hands down the best promo to a match. I have seen it like 50 times, and I still get goosebumps everytime I see it.

I think the promo for The Rock vs Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania X-Seven was one of the best ever. The promo told the story greater than perhaps Rock and Austin did. It showed Austin's thirst for the WWE Championship and his desire to do whatever necessary to win it. The music was great also, and timed perfectly to some much needed action in the promo itself. The promo alone could have sold the match and not the five weeks of TV leading up to the event. It is a "goosebumps" moment when watching.

Having said that, the promo for their match at WrestleMania XIX has to come in close second. The too displayed the true hatred the two had on screen for each other, as well as coming close to The Rock's new character and displaying perfectly against the returning Stone Cold, who The Rock had said months earlier had "taken his ball and went home".

To be honest, most of the WWE's video packages are at least good. They always promote well, even if it is garbage, so that shows how good their Media team is.

This isn't exactly the same thing, but the video with the little boy doing the voiceover for the return of The Crow Sting was chilling as hell. The quiet whisper at the end, "This is Sting" Goosebumps and I've never been a huge Sting guy

Already answered in here and I'll have to be boring and stick with it, but it is the correct answer to be fair.

Austin vs Rock for Wrestlemania 17 sums up everything that was great about that time as a wrestling fans. Hell I even like that Limp Bizkit song

The match sucked, the event sucked, but the video package for The Miz at WrestleMania XXVII was, ahem, awesome!

The vignettes leading up to Bret Hart vs Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania XII, the Iron Man match concept was something that was rarely used. A version of it was featured in WCW albeit in a 30 minute format with Ricky Steamboat and Rick Rude, and the WWF had used the concept in house shows with The Rockers and The Fabulous Rougeaus. However, most wrestling fans knew very little about this concept. So when it was introduced to a mass audience in wrestling and it showcased two of the most athletic talents in the WWF, the excitement level for me as a kid was ten fold.

I remember Bret Hart's music video "You Start The Fire", and Shawn Michaels boyhood dream of becoming the WWF Champion, it was all great stuff. Very memorable and exciting during a time where wrestling was rebounding from its early 90s doldrum. This thread makes me want to take out my Shawn-Bret rivalries DVD as well as doing a YouTube search right now.

Great thread OP, very very glad to take a trip down memory lane here!

-Mine was SCSA vs Rock WM 17
-We saw the lead up and in the match how a face character shows desperation
-IMO Rock's best selling in any match was with SCSA

For me, it's got to be the video package used to hype the Undertaker/Shawn MIchaels Wrestlemania rematch.

I remember they used the song 'Letters From The Sky' by Civil Twilight, and the song, along with the way the video was edited was really powerful stuff. It did a phenomenal job of conveying the magnitude of the match, and now a few years removed with HBK in retirement, watching the video package is still as powerful, and maybe even more meaningful.

It was an example of how, when WWE is at the top of it's game with the video packages, they can sell an entire match in under 3 minutes.

My favorite has to be The Rock vs Stone Cold at WrestleMania X-7. It simply one of, if not, the best video package I've ever seen. The music in this promo fit it so perfectly, the goosebumps, the intensity, and the sheer rush and excitement you feel by just watching it is absolutely amazing.

A close second for me is The Triple H/Batista hype video for their match at WrestleMania 21. It was amazing to see The Rise and Fall of Evolution, the rise of Batista and him leaving Evolution to challenge Triple H all in one video package. Great stuff.

Gotta be Rock vs Austin WrestleMania x-7 for me. The video made the already epic pairing that much more exciting, if possible.

However for the sake of adding something new to the equation, I'm gonna say that Austin Aries vs Bobby Roode from Destination X 2012 is another great one, maybe even 2nd place.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jXtQNCSyOE

Obviously the use of the song "Heart of Courage" can help make anything seem epic so it seems a bit cheap using that song, but apart from that I think the intensity From Aries really helped put him over for me. As I'm British I already knew that Aries was gonna win the match but I wasn't totally sold on the idea... untill I saw this promo. Real great stuff that pretty much sold me on Aries winning the title.

I gotta go with Rock vs Austin WM17. That promo was perfect. The song fit and it showed how important the match was to both men. Close second is Michaels vs Taker 2
