While I agree the match could be pretty good, wont Abyss be due a rematch? The only other thing that's a bit off-putting is that all 3 are faces, which isn't always a bad thing in itself, but after Destination X where the crowd saw a bunch of face heavy matches, it might be an idea to not continue that trend too much.
I don't know if Abyss will have that same rematch entitlement most other ex-champs would. The embarrassment of what happened last night could be enough to just make Bischoff give up on trying to kill the X-Division. If nothing else, he'd at least try something else and put Abyss back on the bench for failing. Besides, between Kendrick's promo last week and Abyss shoving Ray as he walked back up the ramp last night, I think Abyss is about to undergo some kind of transformation.
As for the three faces, that's a very fair point. I didn't mention this before but I was kind of assuming Shelley would start to go heel in that equation. We know he's a fantastic heel form the old Paparazzi Productions today. I know people would hate to see the MCMG split up, but who's to say that Sabin couldn't turn as well? With Beer Money going face now, it could make sense.
I think him and Joe could go again as it was in some ways an upset/surprising win considering how dominant Joe was for the majority of the match. That way it paves the way for Kendrick to potentially lose the title to Abyss (or Aries maybe?) and not have a 3-way face dance.
Seems like Joe's next storyline is going to be much more self-involved; his own issues and growth and breaking through whatever's holding him back right now. That's the way they're building it, at least. Not disagreeing with you that Kaz/Joe should continue, because that was a fantastic match. But I want to see Joe get back to being a face and that would be tough if he's going against another face in Kaz. The fans obviously want to cheer for him, so it's time to stop fighting it.
While Daniels can be a great heel, the problem I have with this is that it's been done numerous times before. However the flip-side of the coin is that we know it works and Daniels IS more interesting as a heel.
The worst thing you can do is back yourself into the corner of "we've seen that before" and leave a guy in an inferior role from what he does best. It seems they've done that with Matt Morgan lately. He's way better as a heel but they've jerked him around so much that now they're leaving him in a lesser face role.
Daniels not only needs to go heel for his own benefit, but to help with the numbers game in the company. You've got Sting, Angle, all of Fortune, Morgan, RVD, Crimson, Young, and about 80% of the X-Division as faces. The heel side needs Daniels just to give these guys someone to feud with. Not only that, but he instantly jumps up to the top three with Anderson and Bully Ray. That's a huge gain and you didn't even have to sign anybody.
Wouldn't mind some sort of feud between Kaz and Daniels quite honestly but not sure who would be better suited for what role. If Kaz keeps getting plucky wins and Daniels becomes more of a 'nearly-man' then maybe Kaz goes cocky and makes noise about getting Daniels out of Fortune. Not really sure.
Both guys are better as heels so that's a tough call. Kaz could point at Daniels loss to AJ or even his loss to Gunner a few months back, but Daniels could also point back at Kaz losing the X-Division title. Maybe a rivalry develops where the two eventually face in a "Loser Leaves Fortune" match, with AJ caught in the middle. Could be pretty cool.
