What the hell is twitter?

I never heard of it until a couple weeks ago and now it seems that's all people talk about it. Somebody described it to me as basically being like Facebook or Myspace status updates. If that's the case what the hell is the point of using that site? Why not just use Facebook since it has other features and more people use it?

5:30 - In walmart buying condoms
6:30 - picking up a girl

i think twitter is a stupid idea.why not use the other website that already have that plus many other things.or why not call the people and tell them what you are doing.And what the hell does twitter mean?
