What team has the best fans in baseball?

Simple question. I hear all the time that the Cardinals have the best fans in baseball, It's always on the radio and tv and even when it's not a Cardinals broadcaster it seems to get mentioned. Really though I don't know if we are the best fans in baseball or what exactly constitutes being the best fans in baseball. So what do you think makes the best fans in baseball and what team has the claim of the best fans in baseball?

I would have to say the Chicago Cubs...hell, you have to be incredibly loyal to have stuck with the Cubbies that long...That they can endure that much heartbreak year after year is a testament to their willpower.

Yeah, I'm also going to have to go with the Chicago Cubs. Those fans have had to endure a lot torture over the years, and despite all of the hard times, Cubs' fans continue to support their team. I remember when the Marlins beat them in 2003 NLCS. Most people probably remember the Steve Bartman incident from this series, but I'll never forget the faces of the Cubs fans after the series was over. They looked depressed, and heartbroken beyond belief. I really don't buy into the whole curse thing, but still, Cubs' fans have been through a lot, and it has been a VERY long time since that team won a championship. I have a great amount of respect for the Cubs' fans.

I'm glad to see that two people have already mentioned the Cubs. We have suffered many hardships but stick with our beloved Cubbies no matter what. Fans show up to Wrigley during good times and bad. Wrigley is known for its party atmosphere but the fans always know what’s going on in the game. I don’t want to insult the Pirates fans, but take them for example. PNC Park is arguably the most beautiful park in MLB but it is always empty. I know Pirates are in a long slump, but they used to draw a crowd. Things got tough and the town seemingly abandoned the team. I’ve heard Pittsburgh is more of a football town or hockey town. There was a time when the Pirates were the team in Pittsburgh. Even in the 90’s when the Cubs were struggling and the Bulls were the toast of the town Wrigley was still crowded every day. Maybe the park wasn’t sold out every single game, but the Cubs always drew a respectable audience. Any team that can maintain a fanbase as strong as the Cubs despite not winning a championship during any of their fans lifetimes has the right to claim ownership of the best fans in baseball.

Best fans is hard to judge. I would definitely say that the Cubs have the most dedicated fans. I also wouldn't count out Phillies fans. They are some angry and disturbed people. They as a city has suffered some pretty sucky situations, but they always come back. Even when the Phils were crap they were there. I'm not saying they are the best, but they are definitely up there. I would in the end choose the Cubbies. They are always with the team no matter how bad and no matter how terrible their luck is going the Cubs fans sit through it and take it. And they keep coming back in good spirits.

Cubs. How often is Wrigley not at least mostly full? The Cubs have not won anything in over 100 years and yet the fans are STILL there. That's saying a hell of a lot for them when their grandparents weren't alive for their last title win. A fan is someone that is fanatical about their team, and to believe in a team with their postseason record, you must be fanatical. It's the Cubs fans.

Wow I hate you all, I was hoping for everone to come in here and claim their team had the best fans in baseball and I was going to come in after that and give the Cubs some love. That means alot coming from me, a diehard Cardinals fan. But I too have got to say it's the Cubbies, they haven't won in a century(and won't be winning anytime soon) yet they have some of the most knowledgeable, passionate, and crazy fans. Take Brain for instance, I probably have the best convos with him on baseball and he always has something to add that I either overlooked or didn't know, I'm not claiming to be Tim Kurkjian or anything but I'm confident in my knowledge of the game.
