What really bothers me.

Pre-Show Stalwart
I don't mean to step on any toes, hurt any feelings, I am gonna just tell it how it is through my eyes, my opinions and etc, take me as I am.

I am a pro wrestling fan, since age 8, since July 25, 2002. It is now 2011, I'm 17 years old. I am a professional wrestling fan, sure I like promos and all but I PREFER in ring action. I'm a proud wrestling nerd, I love learning new variations of moves, I watch EVERY single wrestling company I can find. I have over 120 favorite performers in the industry and I like ALL of them for their in ring work. What bothers me is the status quo here. " Technical wrestlers are boring, no mic skills." I don't mean to generalize but it seems like a lot of people here are entertainment fans, everyone claims oh he is she is not a real wrestling fan. A "Real" wrestling fan to me is the people who enjoy watching the
WRESTLING over promos, storylines, mic skills etc, hence the two words " Wrestling fans",

it's linguistically and literally correct as well.

I hate the attitude era now with a burning passion for how OVERATTED it is. 2009-present has a been pretty good for professional wrestling and when I say pro wrestling I mean it as a whole WWE, TNA, ROH, Dragon Gate USA, NOAH, New Japan, NWS ETC. Everyone raves about the attitude era but there was SELDOM wrestling, granted there are great matches nobody can deny but not many.

Everyone here always rants about how WWE has the worst roster when they have the BEST one yet IN RING WISE-
ex-
Alberto Del Rio/Dos Caras
CM PUnk
Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan
Evan Bourne/Matt Sydal
Primo Colon
Tyson Kidd/TJ Wilson
Justin Angel/Justin Gabriel
Cody Rhodes
Ted Dibiase Jr
Randy Orton{ according to Bret Hart, sit your objecting ass down, lol.}
Yoshi Tatsu
trent Baretta.

Now when I say IN RING WISE, I mean MOVESETS, MATCHES, ARSENALS, and in ring skill sets NOT charisma, not crowd reaction and not how many sales there freaking t-shirt has.

Take me as I am, I am a big mark for chain wrestling/ catch-hand. My favorite matches have seldom taken place in WWE and TNA. I am who I am, I wear my heart on my sleeve, I move to the beat of a different drum and there is nothing you can say that can stop me from loving to watch matches over promos. I'm the type of guy who'd prefer to watch
a 60 minute Puroresu match over an in ring promo between The Rock and The Miz, it's just who I am and I bet I'm not the only one.

I also prefer watching in-ring wrestling; top level in-ring action over promos and hype sequences.

However, I don't make threads in an attempt to inform everybody about it. If you like it, well done, but you didn't need to air all of that out like you were making some confession to Priest, you came across as if you were proclaiming you're a Nazi of sorts. There are probably a good hundred other people online right now who feel the same way as you and I.

However they too won't make a thread like this in an attempt to "come out." So please, stop. Thank you.

:worship:

That is the mark of a true wreslting fan. As a fan I enjoy storylines, promos )if they are good), and some crowd reactions but in the end I am a WRESTLING FAN! I am pretty sure many on here will disagree with you but that doesnt matter. IN ring action is the bases for and always has ben the most important part of wrestling. You sir are awesome!

That’s all well and good but I’d like to inform you of something. Your opinion doesn’t make you any more of a fan than anyone else and it certainly doesn’t make you some kind of better fan. People who claim to enjoy the wrestling more than the storylines and promos seem to have some kind of elitist attitude thinking they are somehow better fans than others. From what you’ve described here you are not a fan of real wrestling. You are a fan of professional wrestling just like everyone else here. The so called real wrestling matches you love so much are every bit a part of sports entertainment as the far fetched storylines and scripted promos you see every week. The choreographed matches with predetermined outcomes are no representation of a real athletic competition. If you were a fan of real wrestling you would attend high school or college wrestling matches. Good for you if you really enjoy watching Trent Barretta more than John Cena. Stand proud with the minority that shares that opinion. I just wish that you would realize that you too are a fan of sports entertainment. Let’s say we are both baseball fans and you prefer a slugfest while I prefer a pitcher’s duel. I wouldn’t say that makes me a better fan. We are both baseball fans who enjoy different aspects of the game.

...it's linguistically and literally correct as well.

I can't help admiring a 17-year-old that uses the word "linguistically," especially on a wrestling forum where half the posters can't correctly spell the word "feud."

What the OP is doing is issuing a statement of purpose. That's fine; there's no reason a person can't do that on this board. As Brain said, though, the guy is coming off as a bit smug, especially when stating: "A 'Real' wrestling fan to me is the people who enjoy watching the WRESTLING over promos, storylines, mic skills etc..."

I consider myself a wrestling fan, but I enjoy the storylines and pageantry as much as the in-ring action, which I also enjoy. To me, pro wrestling is the modern-day equivalent of Vaudeville; a form of entertainment that has something for everyone.

If your primary attraction is to the technical stuff going on in the ring; that's great....... but that isn't the only qualification of a "true" wrestling fan. There are lots of things to like and it's a reason that many folks who aren't fans of pure wrestling still go to house shows, watch what's on TV, and buy pay-per-views.

Brain explained it really well. If you are a fan of only the in ring action, then that's good for you but that does not make you a better fan than any of the others. It's known as pro wrestling and not wrestling and in pro wrestling the promos and the gimmicks and the storylines are as big a part of the product as the action inside the ring is. A wrestler is said to be a great wrestler if he can be great in all the above mentioned departments.

Being good the ring and being shit in all other departments is like having a great serve in Tennis but being weak in just about every other department. Just like you cannot succeed in tennis with just a great serve, you cannot succeed in pro wrestling by just being good inside the ring.

I watch wrestling for the in ring work to but I swore to never judge myself to be better than anyone. I just never understood this debate of who is a better "wrestling fan." I mean at the end of the day don't we all who post on here watch wrestling? Whether it be for in ring work, story lines, divas or just pure entertainment we are in the end watching wrestling. We are all fans of something for various reason but we are still fans of the same subject and matter.

I watch for the in ring as half the time I don't pay attention to storylines as the usually are boring as hell or end up an EPIC FAIL. Recently in the WWE they have a few good story lines rolling on so I pay attention to them but I still watch mainly for the wrestling.

Hell, I even enjoy the 3 minute diva matches more and more too. I just really miss Layla.

-_- No matter how many times you tell someone that WRESTLING isn't about the fights in the ring, there's always the stupid morons who can't get that through their heads. I don't know why they're so stupid, but you know, maybe it's cause they're just not able to read or understand what WRESTLING truly is.

If you want to watch two half naked men fight for just no reason other than to hurt each other, then you watch MMA, Boxing, or even Olympic Wrestling. When you want to watch two half naked men fight because one of the guys called the other guy a stupid twat, then you turn on USA Network and watch Monday Night Raw... or any "pro-wrestling" for that matter.

Pro-Wrestling is not about the fights, it's about the storylines that let us know why those two guys in the ring are fighting. I don't care how great Tyson Kidd and Yoshi Tatsu are in the ring, if I'm not interested enough to care then I'm not going to watch it. Pro-Wrestling is about the people who have the flashy gimmicks, nice catchphrases, and a few good moves that can capture the attention of everyone else.

Case and point why "pure wrestling" doesn't fly... Look at all the past King of the Ring specials, or any "tournament" night. Those shows ALWAYS fall in ratings and aren't nearly as entertaining, and there's a reason for that... because they suck. I don't care about who can roll around in the ring. I care about the people who can talk shit on the microphone, make me believe he's going to beat someone up, and then do it.

Seriously, people who seriously believe that WRESTLING is what is displayed in the ring are ******ed. There's literally no other way around it because obviously this has been spoken to people billions of times, but they still can't get it through their heads. And that's when it stops from being ignorance to just being plane ******ed.

Wow...such hatred for the wrestling fan that enjoys the in-ring action. :)
You know he has every right to enjoy the show for whatever reason he chooses.
His reason happens to be that he enjoys the in-ring action.
Yours is the promos and storylines...

I have no idea why you felt the need to call him ******ed,stupid, moron ect.
It's his right to enjoy that aspect of the show.
For my part I fall somewhere in the middle; I enjoy the storylines like the horsemen, NWO ,CM punk promos,The Rock and Austin promos and the beginning of the Nexus storyline...
But I also very much enjoy the in-ring action of ROH ,lucha libre and yes i like watching the high flying acrobatic in ring style, that all the smart marks of the IWC call with affection "spot monkeys". I would rather watch a spot monkey any day of the week over an immobile roid monkey with average mic skills...but that's just me.

The most annoying aspect of the IWC "wrestling" fan is when they stop becoming wrestling fans and start to talk about this stuff:

the ratings , the t-shirt sales, how the business works, the fucking quarter hour minute by minute rating analysis, what you believe it takes to get over with the crowd, ect.

Are you a wrestling fan or a business and administration major trying to impress the wrestling fans with your knowledge of ratings and what sells and what's cool in 2011?
and please don't give me the excuse that if the ratings are low then wrestling will disappear or die...wrestling won't "die" any time soon. Wrestling is always going to be there...in big business mainstream form like WWE or in indy form...some of them might fold but there's always going to be a new one that will pop up to replace the dying one.
