What purpose did Batista serve interfering in the Bret/McMahon segment?

Yeah well, I'm definitely more into seeing Batista/Cena with Vince and Bret in their respective corners, than just a Vince/Bret match. The last Batista/Cena encounter was pretty good actually, and considering it would be Wrestlemania, it would be a perfect fit for the inter-promotional match, especially considering the involvement of Bret Hart. Add to that Stone Cold as referee, as has been suggested, this could be truly epic - stars of basically three eras of WWE united in one match (Hart of pre-Attitude, Stone Cold of Attitude, and Bastista/Cena of today), it has some true background to it... in the end, we could still get to see Vince not only stunnered by Stone Cold, but then additionally put into the sharpshooter by Bret without Bret having to risk his health anymore than absolutely necessary... now I'd definitely be paying to see this!

I really hope they go this way instead of going through with the Vince/Bret street fight, as I don't think that a one-on-one match would do Bret Hart's legacy justice considering his current state of health, as I already mentioned in the other thread.

Okay so the obvious rumor is Vince vs Bret at mania in a street fight which is okay and the other rumor is that they wanna set up cena vs Batista but with the EC around the corner how and why would they set up cena for two diffrent storylines Batista is there because there is nothing on smackdow. For him right now it would be smart of the wwe to use this to help push Christian stand up for Bret out of respect for what he has accomplished and being that they are both from Canada then you could built up something between Christian and Batista for mania helping Christian outta ecw and keeping the Vince Bret street fight bit of a strecth but I would pay to see it.

Batista showing was a surprise, but its not that surprising that Vince would get the biggest , baddest protection he can. It served several purposes. 1- It solidifies Batista as a heel to the Raw crowd, 2-It helps present the Vince is afraid of Hart and is not man enough to take him on his own aspect of the angle, 3-It shows that Bret needs someone watching his back - a good oppertunity for the Hart Dynasty to step up, 4-If the Dynasty is going to help Hart they are going to get at least a slight face push so at the very least they will become a tweener tag team ,and with the possibility of a straight edge society run with the tag belts it stands to reason the opposition be leaning towards face's. 5-As people are saying it looks like it might be setting up Cena vr's Batista. 6-It was nice to see a curve ball throw as people did not see that one coming. The Batista run in made sence in several aspects if they use it properly.

Well they announced on ECW last night that Cena came out after Raw went off the air and apparently Batista got the better of him by the graphic they showed(Batista had Cena up in the ring for a Batista bomb on steel steps). They said there will be footage on Friday of what went down off the air. And Vince always has big hired guns to fight his battles. Big Show vs DX throughout 06. Umaga comes to mind in 07. How do you think he won the ECW title?

There's a chance this all could be a build up for Cena VS Batista at Mania, but then again, Batista could just be another one of Vince's henchmen. Maybe WWE wants another big time Mania match like HBK/Taker from last year? I really don't know why WWE feels the need to use the Vince/Bret storyline to spark this feud, but I guess we will have to wait and see how things will develop as time goes on.

While the Vince/Bret storyline is essentially sparking a Cena/Batista feud the Cena/Batista feud in a sense coudl be what helps maintain the spark with the between the Bret/Vince feud for the reasons stated by others. Rather than just have constant references to 12 years ago and Bret continuously come out and talk about how he was again wronged by Vince, a focus can also be moved onto Cena and Batista and therefore lighten the burden of having to keep coming up with new reasons for Bret and Vince to interact yet presumably not do anything (like be in Cena/Batistas corner) til WM.

I hope no one takes this the wrong way, but it is getting really old seeing people post that there was no purpose in Batista running in Monday night. First off, even if there was no reason, who cares? It was a curve ball that no one saw coming. I constantly see people complain that everything is seen a mile away, well the WWE is changing things up and now people are complaining that they dont see a purpose in something WWE did. Maybe it had one purpose only, to throw everyone off and go "wow, WWE is getting a little more unpredictable".

However, I think there are a few reasons behind this. Someone made the comment that maybe Bret is healthier than most are thinking right now, maybe it is another curve. If that is the case, the rumored street fight can still happen. And with a rumored match between Batista and Cena, maybe this is the angle that WWE came up with to spark that feud leading to a match at WM26.

Whether it is Batista w/Vince V Cena w/Bret or a tag match or two separate matches, Im loving this angle. It in my eyes is refreshing and possibly building up to some of the best stuff we have seen in awhile.

My advice to everyone is to just calm it down. See how things play out and enjoy what you watching. If you watch the show and have to get on here right after and negatively critique everything that happened, I have to ask the same question that was asked a few posts ago: Why are you still watching it?

Im pretty sure this is a precursor to a Cena/Batista match at Mania. Possible with Bret and Vince in their respective corners. Which personally i think will work better than a one on one street fight with Hart and Vince.

Maybe Bret can take a couple punches, but even a streetfight is going to involve more than just that. Then again we aren't exactly sure what kind of shape he's really in, but if monday was any indication it doesnt look good.

It was added muscle, with Batista helping Vince, its gonna cause Cena to come out and help Bret (It did when Raw was already off the air). Plus Cena was the one who said that McMahon is a coward. Also they need to have Cena at Wrestlemania along with Batista. So Assuming the talks with The Rock have fallen through with a Wrestlemaina match against Cena, WWE has to have another plan for Cena, and right now this has to be it. The WWE title match wont have him in it and the World Title Match wont have Batista in it. So what do they do??? Have Cena and Dave team with Hart and McMahon to duke it out. A No holds barred tag match at wrestlemania.

Vince always hires people to do his dirty work. He was getting beaten up, and he knew that would happen, so he made sure he had made plans. Batista is obviously going to be involved in some sort of story arc going forward and this was a pretty solid way to introduce him to this without it seeming forced. The best way to see what he'll do is to tune in, and that's why it happened.
