What is your favourite cuisine and what would your last supper be?

¡Roján!

Down with the trumpets.
Coming from a family where my dad and his brothers have been in the culinary business since they were born, I have a passion for food. Cooking it, seeking it out, experimenting with it, and of course, eating it. Seriously, who doesn't love eating? It's the first thing I think about in the morning and the last thing I think about at night and, I'm sure I'm not the only one.

So, simple questions really: What's your favourite cuisine? Whether it be Italian, French, Indian, Japanese or whatever, tells us which and why you like it. Also, what, if you could choose, would be the last meal you could have before bowing out? (appetizer, main course and dessert)

For my favourite cuisine, it's a toss up between three.
  • Indian: Having Indian roots, from a young age I always liked Indian food and spicy dishes. However, it wasn't until I visited India in 2008 that my view on Indian food, as a whole, completely changed. Indian street food will blow you away. Best snacks in the World, by far. Honestly, from dishes like Paneer Tikka (a cottage-like cheese cooked in tikka spices) to others like, Pani Poori (a small pastry, of sorts, filled with spicy water and chickpeas), all of it is absolutely scrumptious. And, not all of it is spicy. That is a common misconception with Indian food which isn't true, at all. Also, I have a soft spot for Basmati rice. It's so much better than conventional white rice.
  • Italian: Simple ingredients that can make such complex flavours. That's how I'd define Italian food. The only real components in Italian food are tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and herbs. It really is amazing wha the Italians do with so little. Anyway, never have I had an Italian meal that I've not enjoyed or at least, appreciated. Well, there have been, but I blame the chefs. Risotto is my favourite dish, at the moment. It's so tasty and rich and packs a real punch when cooked well. Then, there's the obvious pizza and pasta which I absolutely would die for too. The fish in Italy is delicious, also.
  • Thai: Thai food is sort of a new cuisin that's just popped up in recent years. It had been much overshadowed by Chinese and Japanese food but, now it is gaining in popularity and I know why. It's fucking awesome. The soups are so strong in flavour yet not overpowering. Chicken Satay is my favourite starter of all time and Thai red curry is fantastic when done with noodles. But, Thai food doesn't stop there. There's been hundreds of dishes I've had which has left me astounded at how good they are. I can't for the life of me remember what they're called but, afterall, who can really tell the difference between Tim Yong Gam and Yun Jing Fan?

So, out of these three cuisines, it's hard to choose. I love the Italian simplicity, I adore the Indian diversity and I swear by Thai food's powerful flavours. Gun to head, I'd probably chose Italian but, ask me tomorrow after having eaten a curry and my answer may be different.

As for my last supper, I'd want to keep it simple.
For starters, I'd definitely go with my trusty old Chicken Satay. Not the commercial, westernised version of it, but the traditional one. Then, for main course, I'd want Chicken Thighs wrapped in Bacon and stuffed with Sundried Tomatoes and Philadelphia. And, with a side of Mushroom Risotto. Phwoar, my mouth's gone all watery just thinking about it. Finally, for dessert, I'd go for a White Chocolate and Raspberry Cheesecake. It's not the manliest dessert out there but, it's delicious. Oh, and throughout the entire meal I'd also have to have this within arm's length:

For those of you who have no idea what that is, you're missing out! Anyway, I can't wait to here your responses. Of you go!

Footnote: I strongly advise having a snack accesible to you at all times as writing a response may make you extremely hungry. I made four trips to the kitchen.

I would have a mexican feast. I would have nachos burritos quesadilla chimichangas. with Jarritos soda and for dessert I would have Auntie Annes Pretzles lemon merringue pie and a mixture of differnt frozen yougurt with toppings such as twix sprinkels oreos fruity pepples captain crunch chocolate chips kit kats receses peant butter cup bits and I would have one pack of Butterfinger BBs for the road after that last meal I would be ready to go

I'm a big farm fed country boy. So that means I love down home American cooking. For my last meal I would start myself with an appetizer a nice thick Ribeye grilled medium rare with a side of potatoes and gravy and corn would do the trick. Then I'd move on to the main course. Four thick and juicy grilled cheesburgers with a side of french fries smothered in ketchup. As far as dessert is concerned, what would an American meal be without Apple Pie? Nothing is as American as a nice slice of warm apple pie, and when I mean slice, I mean half the pie. Go on and throw a couple scoops of ice cream on there, I wont mind.

After typing all this, I kinda wish my last meal was tomorrow. Lol.

God Bless America that sounds so good right now, basically this is my favorite cuisine and could also be my last meal but for the sake of being original I'll throw in my own for last meal.

My last meal would obviously have to be massive so I'm throwing in lots of different stuff. Appetizer would be some boneless original hot wings from Wingstop, if you like hot wings this stuff is like crack and would be well worth the travel from wherever you are to California or Arizona where they have em. I'd follow that up with a 15 inch Pepperoni Cheesesteak for my main course and then dessert would be a shit ton oh my mom's cupcakes because those things are heavenly. I'd wash all that down with some Coke and a few Coors, then I would die satisfied.

Interesting thread. I'm as Italian as Italian can be, and I've got more then a soft spot for their cuisine. Further, it's about the only food I can remotely cook, although I'll be damned that I haven't tried! Chicken Piccata, which is grilled chicken soaked in butter and olive oil, then topped off with capers, is the stuff. It's terrible for you, don't get me wrong, as the amount of butter I use could give the healthiest heart a coronary, but it's great, nonetheless. It's incredibly easy and quick to make, topping off at about 15 minutes, and mixing it with a bed of Penne is amazing. Throw some marinara on top if you're feeling adventurous, and you've got one heck of a dinner. Italian is far and away my favorite cuisine, with the Chicken Piccata with Penne being my favorite of the lot.

As for last meals, it would probably have nothing to do with Italian. It's my favorite meals, but you get too full, too damn quick because the food is so heavy. As much as Im Italian, I'm American through and through, and love nothing more then a good steak. So start me off with some Parmesan and Garlic wings, the wetter the better, and Im off to a good start. Then cook up for me a medium well, 24 oz filet with some mashed potatoes and broccoli(yeah, I love broccoli), and give me two or three of my mom's homemade Apple Dumplings, and I'd be ready for the needle, or the chair. I'd be in such bliss from the food I'd probably just smile casually as they're hooking me up to be fried or preparing to stop my heart that I'd forget about my likely long-winded and completely unnecessary last words, and die happily.

I like the way most everyone in this topic isn't looking to fine dining for their last meal; no one's aiming for filet mignon or duck l'orange.

And I'm with you! For my last meal, I'd want to have the food that gave me the most pleasure in my life.....Pizza! I've lived in and around New Haven, Connecticut most of my life......home of the brick oven pizza with all-natural toppings. None of that stainless-steel oven shit! None of that packaged pepperoni! You kiddin' me?

Most of you rubes have no idea what great pizza is......you've got to come here to find out. Let's make our last meal the best one ever.

The beer's on me. Shit!

Yo!

Haha, nice topic! This totally succeeded in making me hungry alright.

Sri Lankan Cuisine!

Pretty similar to Indian Cuisine. If I were to be specific, it's similar to South Indian cuisine in its use of chilli and many other sorts of spices. (That totally explains the wonderful aroma that gushes into my nostrils every time I come home from school. Oh man, my mouth's watering. Also, my grand mother's an excellent cook and my mother certainly takes after her. I hope I do too. :worship: Spicy curries are almost essential every lunch. If it's not spicy, then it's some kind of epic pickles or chutney. Then there are sweets. Many of them are made at home, especially every New Year which is in April 14th.

Last but not least, those heavenly short eats! Like Rohan said, even in SL, those little junk food/ short eat shops in the streets have some of the best snacks in the world! Pastes, Rolls, Patties, Cutlets, Vada and many more. Nomnomnom. ♥

Also, what, if you could choose, would be the last meal you could have before bowing out? (appetizer, main course and dessert)

Since it would be my last, the meal would have all sorts of food.

Appetizer - Nachos!
Main Course - Pittu/ Puttu or Funnel Cake which isn't exactly cake, mind you. It would go with sugar and milk. Yeah, that's how I've loved it since I was little.
Dessert - A HUGE slab of Black forest cake. Chocolate Mouse. Pretty little yummy cupcakes. Ferrero Rocher chocolates. Strawberries dipped in chocolate.

I don't really know. I'd totally go crazy with my Dessert and have all sorts of Chocolatey food. Mother might complain I might become seriously constipated but it's supposed to be my last meal, right? ;)
