What if Turner Bought TNA?

I think, that if Turner bought TNA, and turned over the helm to Paul Heyman, then TNA would effectively over the course of time, begin to rival WWE and ultimately take over. With guys like Triple H, the Undertaker, Chris Jericho, Rey Mysterio, Shawn Michaels and some of the other older guys on their last legs, WWE is having to start to push younger talent to the forefront and based on what most of the IWC is saying its not going over so well. In fact, NOW would be the EXACT time to buy if I were Billionaire Ted. After wrestlemania, Trips is gone, Undertaker will undoubtedly take another 6 months off and then what do you have? a bunch of Noobs and John Cena. While I do NOT believe that WWE will ever be overtaken, I do believe that with Billionaire Teds money and the vision of Paul Heyman, TNA could be on a level playing field and by level I mean, most of the major players gone or retired, leaving John Cena and the rookies against TNA's entire roster.
When you read this post, don't think of the current TNA writing staff or management. Think of TNA's ROSTER minus the over 40 crowd with Paul Heyman as the leader and Ted Turner as the pockets of the operation.
Bigger Bank, Bigger Venue, More TV exposure, More creative writing and some of the best wrestlers in the business....
You tell me that ain't a recipe for success.

I don't know if Ted or anyone else who has the big bucks would buy TNA, but if anyone would i think this is the right timing for it. WWE is on a changing mode, from established superstars to young wrestlers with potential. TNA can easily turn the wind to their side.

With the 90 day no-compete clause, i don't think it is a big issue, at least not that big for two reasons: The main problem with the current situation for a wrestler is the fact that TNA can't offer big contract to anyone comparing to WWE. Even if Cena or any other superstar wanted to go to TNA, what can TNA offer them? Thats the problem in the first place, not the 90 days. The second thing is if someone breaks his contract and shows up at TNA the next day, whats going to happen? Surely they won't go to jail :) they will just have to pay a compensation. If TNA can milk it well, then they might end up being the one who benefited more in such situations. And once TNA is ready to pay big bucks, it will be difficult for WWE to get their stars sign that clause. After all viewers might not be professionals, wrestlers are. They do this for living, we watch it for fun...

bro do you know your history at all Vince had his ass handed to him on a silver platter week in and week out, he had to change the WHOLE dynamic of his company to stay alive, blood every week, tits and ass on the screen when ever a female is in the ring, cursing left and right on every promo....

If ted turner bought TNA and started signing stars away from WWE and had it booked correctly their is no telling what would happen because their is no chance in hell vince would go back to what he resorted to. Anyone who watched back in 1996 knows vince tried running a straight shooting promotion and was failing miserably and then decided to go with shock value television, if Turner bought TNA i would be VERY interested to see what would happen since vince cant resort back to that.

Umm, yes I know my history, as I said, WCW got HOT and eventually LOST their asses. Not to mention, Bischoff even said, what brought down WCW was Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Rock. Not DX, or anything like that. Turner knows his place, hence him selling to Vince!! So, yeah, I know the history!! WCW whooped Vonce's ass week in week out, Bishoff and co got caught with their pants down and they eventually lost the Monday Night Wars.

Actually Ted Turner never sold WCW Time Warner did. Turner was extremely angry at Time Warner for selling it but by the time they sold it Turner had very little pull or say in his own company. Also WCW didn't go broke they were still the highest rated shows on TNT and TBS by a longshot but Time Warner didn't want wrestling on their channels and were changing the demographic they were targeting. Basically Time Warner didn't think very highly of us wrestling fans.

didnt ted and his network give up on wcw? why should he buy tna. TNA IS IN GOOD HANDS.

Do you honestly believe that?

TNA's hands couldn't find TNA's arse with a map.

I love TNA, but it's hardly a prime example of a well-run promotion.

As for Turner taking over, how much pull does he even have with TV these days? The dude obviously loved the biz to keep pummelling so much money into it in the 90s, maybe a change of ownership to a rich wrasslin' fan could do wonders, but without solid TV it'd ultimately go nowhere.
