This is an interesting idea. Whether WWE would have replaced two guys, or would have just gone with ten guys, either way would have been interesting. It's a good hypothetical situation.
The reason this is so interesting to me is not to find out who they would have replaced...but to think about how well they would have actually done. McIntyre is good. The guy is solid in just about every area there is. I don't think he's great, nor do I think he's ready for the HUGE push some of you want him to get. But I think he would have been the clear victor of NXT, had he been there, IMO.
But the one I really think about is Sheamus. I will start off by saying I am a HUGE Sheamus-hater. I think he is the absolute worst main event wrestler I have seen in a long, long time. But how well do I think he would have done matched up against these young guys?
I think people automatically assume Sheamus would have done well, because of how "successful" he is right now. I don't. I think he has been shoved down our throats. I think we were basically told to accept this guy, and if you don't like it, deal with it. But it would have been a whole different story, IMO, if he had to be judged prior to getting a huge, massive push (out of nowhere).
The guy isn't a good wrestler, he just isn't. Some may disagree, and I respect the opinions of others, but not in this case. When has this guy put on a good match? He didn't look like anything special against Cena. Orton and HHH have carried him, IMO. And the rest of his matches have been absolute squashes. And I don't buy for a second that Vinny Mac and company are trying to bury the guys that Sheamus squashes...they are protecting Sheamus from having too many REAL matches, because it may show how terrible he really is.
His character sucks...because he doesn't have one. Is he going to walk around for the next ten-fifteen years acting like a glorified, Irish Thor? I hope not. His look is nothing special. He's pale, and not all that big (no bigger than HHH). His promos have to be the most uninteresting, boring pieces of garbage I have ever had to listen to. I just believe, that on a program like NXT, he would have been exposed. Guys like Bryan, Gabriel, and Barrett would have made this guy look like he still belongs in the minors (and IMO, he does).
