What Happened To "Primetime" Elix Skipper?

I was watching some classic TNA matches on youtube and came across the steel cage match with Triple X Vs. Americas Most Wanted. The match where Elix walked the cage! I'm curious, what happened to that guy? I've checked on wiki and nothing is said about his career after his TNA departure in 2008.

Details are sketchy but Elix Skipper appears to have retired from wrestling sometime in 2009 after his 22 year old son Lamarcus was murdered by a gunman in his apartment. As a father myself I can only imagine what he must have gone through. He currently resides in Villa Rica, Georgia

Elix was my first trainer in Pro Wrestling in 1999. That was at the old WCW power plant and Good Ole' Days wrestling (wwa4 now) in Atlanta, GA. A good man, it's hard to see him go through what he has been through. But he still goes in to WWA4 from time to time. Glad someone inquired about Elix. :)

I was gonna' say, he retired after his Son was murdered. Really sad, to be honest. He really was a very solid wrestler in that ring. Everyone was saying after WCW folded and the Team Canada thing ended, he would never make it, but his work in TNA with Triple X and the Diamonds in the Rough was very good, and everyone knows it. Last I heard, he was doing some backstage work for TNA, but grief made him leave. Not saying that's a bad thing because if something like that had happened to one of my kids, not sure if I could handle it either.

I have no idea as he was a very entertaining wrestler as who can't foget his Walking the Top of 6 sides of Steel to an Ensurgi as that was awesome. But I did find his Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/elix.skipper.1 So he prob decided to retire cause of his kids death which is understable.

I'm sad to hear Skipper has retired, and its terrible news about the murder of his son. That is something no parent should go through, I feel awful for him!

I always thought Elix had a lot of talent, he was a great athlete and could put pull of some unbelievable moves, plus he had a great physique too. It was only his charisma that let him down, he wasn't very good at all on the mic.

In TNA's X-Division, where high flying spots were more important than being able to cut a great promo, Skipper was perfect but once the division got less attention he kinda faded away. He was always one of those guys that I wonderered "where did he vanish to?"

It's a shame he never really accomplished anything after taking that MASSIVE risk to hit the hurrancanrana off the top of the cage. It turns out what he gained from that move, which is still one of the most spectacular spots I've ever seen, wasn't worth the risk he took. Thank God he wasn't injured when doing it!

Its really sad the hear what happened to Elix's son. No father should have to go threw something like that and I fully understand why he retire from wrestling. I still think that he was one of the best X Division stars that the company ever had and its a shame he never got to hold the X division title. The guy would almost certainly help elevate the divison if he was still on the roster today and even at the age of 45 I would love to see him back in the TNA.

I felt the same way. It always frustrated me that his Wikipedia page just ended after talking about his time in TNA and never indicated if he found a "real" job or was working on the independent scene.

It's unfortunate that he retired. He was a guy that I was looking forward to watching toward the end of WCW, back when he was using the name "Skip Over." I liked him when he was with Team Canada, even if he wasn't actually Canadian and never actually played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders like WCW said he did.

It's nice to know that he went out on his terms in a way, but the reasons for it are unfortunate.

That is really sad to hear the about Elix's son. I really liked his work in the last days of WCW, and again in TNA. He was a great talent, and his work in the Ultimate X match was great. I always wondered if he would pop up again, but I guess i got my answer to that here. It is a shame he retired, but I guess that was the right thing to do for him. Maybe after some time we will get to see him in TNA one more time.
