What does duvet mean in "Australian"?

Isn't duvet a French word for a down comforter? (pronounced doo-vay)
I've always called our down comforters duvets.

If duvet also means something else in Australian, I'll be interested to know what that is.

i'm not sure what a "duvet" is, I've never heard of anything sinister. They call a duvet a "doona" though, so maybe an urban legend has come from that.
