What Do You Think of Magnus and Bram?

Pre-Show Stalwart
Personally, I’m happy that TNA is creating a tag team or so it seems in this duo. Lord knows, the Wolves need a decent crop of talent to revitalize the division. However, I’m not so sure Magnus was the man I would have put with Bram. Yes they are both British. I get the whole let’s try to repackage Magnus since his title reign made him look like a wuss. Also, I understand that Bram’s a little green and needs to be put in a tag team to hide a few of his flaws.

However, I think there was a better fit on the roster for a partner for Bram. That man is Gunner. Maybe Bram comes in and says he knew Gunner from the War and wants to know where his killer instinct went. Basically, it’s the same storyline, but Magnus just doesn’t fit the violent killer role in the way Gunner could have.

I’m imagining two young uber-violent guys with long hair and wild streaks who come running down to the ring and just flat beat you up. It’s been long time since we’ve had a true bad-dude team in wrestling. I’m thinking a team like the 80’s Road Warriors. I think this would have been a better fit for Gunner and for Bram. Gunner used to call himself The Modern Day Viking. They could have even used that moniker for the team by simply adding an s. I would have much preferred that over Gunner trying to rehabilitate Samuel Shaw.

What do you think? Would Gunner have been a better fit for this violent filled duo? Is there someone even better than Gunner? Are you buying Magnus as this brutal guy?

The only gripe I have with this duo still is that Bram came into TNA trying to bring the "old" Magnus back out — the fightin', brawlin' non-pretty boy version he apparently was in a past life, but have done nothing to change the same pretty boy look he still has right now, and that includes his trunks with the script Magnus logo on the ass. It just doesn't appeal to the style of wrestler he is supposed to be playing now.

His vocal presence makes up for a bit, but you can tell me until next Tuesday you aren't a pretty boy. If you do it in designer jeans and a well-trimmed beard with a Salon hair cut, I'm still gonna call you one come Wednesday.

He needs a bit of a shift, visually. Matching trunks with that same splatter/metal style name/logo, and grow the beard out.

Fix that, and they're good as gold as far as a viable tag team with purpose and presence in an otherwise fledgling division in desperate need of real help.

I think Bram and Magnus are a nice tag. I hate tag teams that have members who look alike way too much. I like diversity. The only tag team that could get away with it was Edge and Christian.

Bram I love, the dude is awesome. He has a great look, that accent is menacing and you buy the fact he's insane and ultra violent. Magnus? Not so much. Magnus strikes me of more of a pretty boy cocky guy, not a "i'll slap you with a bag of shit and piss down your eye sockets" guy. That's why I think they shouldn't try to make both of them violent, but instead have them differ a little bit.

Overall, they're a fine little tag team but they need to work on their moves and identity some more. So far the only thing that makes them a tag is that they apparently had history and they're british. Otherwise, you wouldn't know.

Still, Bram for the win. I see a Main Eventer in that guy. He has that evil Game of Thrones way of speaking.

I hear what IDR is saying in that Magnus isn't matching the violent look that Bram is trying to bring out. However, I do feel it might not be necessary. Not all tag teams should be cookie-cutter among themselves. This pair has a nice yin-yang feel: Magnus can be the pretty boy (beard and all) and Bram is the psycho of the two.

I'm not nearly as concerned with his style as I am with his look. He doesn't look like he fits, and call me old fashioned, but I'm biggest on matching tights or ring gear in general for tag teams. The greatest tag teams in history have all worn matching gear. Road Warriors, Team 3D, Hart Foundation, Bulldogs, the Midnight Express, etc.

They'd benefit a ton from a clever tag name (as in not that WWE bullshit of just nick-naming them based on some stupid combination of their names, like "Bragnus"), and from matching tights. I'd just bring back London Brawling, honestly. Wolfe has been gone from TNA for long enough now that I doubt it'd matter much.

The Krumpets? Sausage & Beans? Great Bripain? Wood Chappers?

Shit, I don't know, it'll probably something like British Violence or some bullshit.

I agree with this, and I feel the same way about tag teams.
I think matching trunks is a big deal and can make 2 guys look like a TEAM. part of why I think Bromans are one of the better TEAMS TNA has created in awhile. I also really liked Ink Ink.

I thought Bram looked like Gunner, but I never thought about them as a team. but now that I think about I do think Bram would have been a better match with Gunner than Magnus. that keeps Magnus in singles where I think he is better, and it puts Gunner in a tag team where I think he can be better than in singles.

I personally love the contrast in styles. I love that Magnus can be the smooth talking technician that can get lethal when need to, and i love Bran being this soulless, heartless killer in the ring. Sort of like the old Power and Glory tag team of Paul Roma, and Hercules Hernandez(God bless his soul). But hopefully they will have more success than they did. I think keeping this dynamic will to better for them in the long run.

Since I can't rep you right now I'll just say I agree with this.
Matching attire makes teams feel like real teams.

Let's say someone is watching the show for the first time and wrestler A is in the ring either having a solo match or getting beaten up or whatever and wrestler B comes to the ring with matching attire.

First time watcher automatically associates the two as a team.

And if Jamie Noble and Kid Kash were able to use the name The Pitbulls and walk to the ring with dog collars on like the ECW team did then I see no reason not to use a name like London Brawling.

My bigger gripe is why is this a tag team? Bram came around after Magnus lost the title, and told him he did because he wasn't the old Magnus. Why then, hasn't this whole thing led to a more violent Magnus going after the title. To me, that would be way more interesting than another heel stable having a champ. It would have been perfect for all other challengers to try and out wrestle EY and fail only for Magnus to simply beat the piss out of him to be the one to end it.

Instead though, just another kind of, sort of tag team.......
