"What Do I Tell My Kids About This Debt Obama Is Running Up?"

klunderbunker

Welcome to My (And Not Sly's) House
That's a question a "mom" asks in an anti-Obama ad I just saw. She says that she isn't sure what to tell her kids about the national debt Obama has run up.

What kind of parent talks to their kid about the national debt? If it's such a bad thing that your kid doesn't need to know about, don't bring it up. This isn't a hard concept to grasp.

Like a kid would spend more than 5 minutes away from their video games to ask such a question. If they do ask, just flash a borderlands 2 case in front of them and they will forget all about it.

I was on the highway today and saw a van that had a dog cage on top with a stuffed dog inside. At the top of the cage was a red, white, and blue sign that said "ROMNEYCARE".

I don't care who you support, that's funny shit.

I suppose, Ms. Romney voter, you'd explain the spending under Obama hasn't really increased at all since the last budget proposed by the last President, who happened to be Republican. You'd further explain how our debt has expanded due to lack of tax revenue, which was due in part from A) three different tax cuts under our last Republican President B) the absolute refusal by Congressional members in the Republican party to increase taxes at all because of some ridiculous promise they made to one person and C) the poor economic conditions since 2008, which escalated and crashed under our last Republican President.

Oh, those were rhetorical questions, questions to which you didn't actually expect a response based on facts? I'm sorry. Carry on with your deception.

God, I hate that commercial.

Did I mention Obama is black? He is you know. You really shouldn't like him because of that. Did I say black? I meant Muslim. And by Muslim of course I mean Christian, but not the kind you can trust.

What cracks me up is the same people who accuse him of being a Kenyan Muslim then act offended when you suggest some white people don't vote for Obama because he's black.

Well of course. I mean, they're sure Muslims are evil, even though those same people will point to the first amendment whenever someone even mentions Christians taking things a bit too far, and it's not like any Christian or white man has ever been a terrorist or anything.

What's funny to me is how the chick talks about the debt and her kids like its everyday casual conversation. I'll just bet she doesn't have a full understanding of what the national debt is. Man I'll be glad when these ads are over.

Amusing fact - the world's "debt", combined, is nonzero. Which raises the question - to whom do we owe this money?

Most of the debt we owe to ourselves. I think it's roughly 2/3rd of our debt we owe to ourselves in the future.

EDIT: Here's a pretty decent article on it. And it even comes from Fox News, which surprises me, as it is mostly an article based on facts, not lies and half-truths (as long as you ignore the direct quotes from Republican leaders).

Per typical, Sly lays out the post I had in my head before I post it.
