Pre-Show Stalwart
Ok people always say that Wrestlemania 13 is one of the worst Wrestlemania's ever apart from the Bret Hart vs Steve Austin match were the only decent matches on the card so looking back at it what Changes would you of made to the Card and how would you of booked it Ill go first with what matches I would of booked first!

Wrestlemania 13
(Ok I know HBK was Supposed to be Injuryed but I believe he could of Competed)
WWF Title
Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker

I know they have had classic's at WM 25,26 but in 1997 theses 2 was at the top of their game and would of put on an instant classic again and with these 2 main eventing it would be hard to choose a match of the night between this and the Bret/Austin match.

Submission Match
Bret Hart vs Steve Austin

you all know why!!!

Tag Titles Street Fight Rules
Owen Hart & British Bulldogg vs L.O.D

the only reason is that both teams put on a decent match at the next PPV which would of been better at Wrestlemania.

Steel Cage Match
Faarooq vs Ahmed Johnson

during this time these to were going through a decent feud which was the main one in the mid-card so a Cage match would of been fitting for these 2

Intercontinental Title
Rocky Maivia vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs The Sultan

the 3 of these could of put on a decent match together the decent in ring ability of HHH and Rocky's Flash style back then and the Sultans big man present could of worked well together.

WWf title Shot
Psycho Sid vs Mankind vs Vader

just to fill up the card and plus Mankind challages Undertaker at the next PPV so this could of added to their Storyline together.

Mixed Tag Match
Marc Mero & Sable vs Goldust & Marlena

like the one above to fill up the card!

so their you have it guys thats how I would of booked Wrestlemania 13 with using the guys who was competing back then.

This is one of my favourite topics, changing the WM 13 card. It wasn't one of the worst WM's imo, the card just looked bad on paper and the main event between Taker & Sid was terrible but apart from that everything else on the card was enjoyable for me. I'm not saying all the matches were great but as a fan, it was fun to watch. I mean if you look at past WM cards before that, most of it didn't look good on paper and the main events weren't spectacular but the rest of the card were still enjoyable. The only WM's in which the whole show blowed hard on & off paper were WM 9, 11 & 25 except for MiTB. As far as how I would've booked WM 13...

The Headbangers vs. The Godwinns vs. Doug Furnas & Phil LaFon vs. The New Blackjacks
Woulda kept it the same.

Rocky Maivia vs. Goldust vs. HHH - IC Championship
All of them were in the IC Title picture at the time and were trading the belt between each other, so I would've booked this. If only WWF had started booking Triple Threat matches around this time, we probably could've really seen this match take place. I would have Chyna take out Marlena, same way she did at WM 13 then HHH Pedigree Goldust then Rocky steals the win from HHH somehow. Then after the match both HHH & Chyna beatdown Rocky but then Rocky's old man Rocky Johnson comes into the match and takes out HHH to save his boy and Chyna would walk away from the ring in fear of getting an asskicking but still putting on act like she's not intimadated then Rocky Sr. & Jr. share a hug, same as WM 13 again. Two WM 13 moments that happened mixed into one match.

Sycho Sid vs. The Sultan
This is a filler match, nothing special. Just something to give em to do. Sid would be face in this match BTW.

Mankind vs. Vader
Well I know both of them were Paul Bearer's proteges at the time but a match between these two would've been interesting as they're both deranged characters. And like Owen vs. Bulldog, this would be another partner vs. partner match.

Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin in a Submission Match for the WWF Championship w/ Ken Shamrock as the Special Referee.
Woulda kept it the same for obvious reasons but just for the WWF Title. This match would be the 1st of 2 Bret Hart title defenses.

British Bulldog vs. Owen Hart - European Championship
Following the masterpiece that was Austin vs. Bret would be this clinic. These two were clashing with each other at the time over the European Championship and had some problems within the team, so a rematch between these two to settle the score would've been much fitting instead of them defending their Tag Titles against Vader & Mankind.

Legion Of Doom & Ahmed Johnson vs. Nation Of Domination (Farooq, Savio Vega & Crush) in a Chicago Street Fight
Woulda kept it the same.

Bret Hart vs. Undertaker for the WWF Championship w/ Shawn Michaels as the Special Referee
Yes the main event from Summerslam that same year, I know but it would've saved the main event slot from being a disaster had it been the main event of WM instead, the only difference here would be Taker winning the title and I consider Taker vs. Hart one of the greatest matchups to have never took place at WM, same as Austin vs. Taker. I would've still booked a rematch w/ Shawn as referee for Summerslam, so that everything still works out the same as did in 97. Also if you notice, it would be the same scenario as WM 10 with the WWF Champ defending his title 2 times in one night with both of the championship matches containing special referees and in the first title defense, the champ retains but in the second, he loses the title. The only difference here is the man who won the WWF Title in the second title match at WM 10, Bret Hart would be the one who's in Yokozuna's position here. I did this, so that we'd have Bret vs. Taker as the main event but also manage to keep Austin vs. Bret on the card.

Shawn vs Undertaker - It's a great idea but wouldn't have been able to happen considering the fact that Undertaker didn't trust him. In interviews (PhenomForever) he says that, back then, he was observing everything going on (that's how he generals backstage) and he noticed Shawn's attitude. He was traitorous, unreliable, untrustworthy and backstabbing. Undertaker and his Streak were already planned out (I don't know if it was to what is now 19) so he thought, judging by what he'd seen over many years, Shawn wouldn't fall down for Taker at WM, and he would then ruin the match (with obvious physical tension occurring after that).
So of course it would be a good match, but then again - so was Undertaker vs Sycho Sid. If you consider the fact that Undertaker/Sid was a great match, and we still got Undertaker/HBK at WrestleMania (twice) then it would've been better to NOT have HBK at WM 13. Undertaker vs Sid was a rare, once in a lifetime opportunity. Sid put on a great match at WM with Undertaker, because HBK wasn't at WM 13 he still got the chance to do that many years later.
Hart vs Austin - You know why!!
Tag Titles I agree and know what you're talking about with this tag match, the tag at the next PPV was a lot better than a lot of tag matches now. Not only did it have better wrestling but a good use of weapons.
Steel Cage I do reckon that this match would have made a lot of sense, but I don't think it should have been a steel cage match, many gimmick matches are horrible at WM. Take a look at the casket matches, cage matches and HIAC matches that have transpired at WM.
IC title match - IC title match would have been very entertaining considering Rock/HHH put on a clinic in their Iron Man match (no DQ, until HBK screws Rock at the end) so, with Triple Threat having the same No DQ stipulation, it could have indeed been very entertaining.
WWF Title shot: Like I said before, I think Sid should've faced Taker, but if not - Mankind wins, WWF title match and they continue their amazing feud with more bizarre twists and matches.
Diva match I agree with what you said because not only is this a filler but in the eyes of fans & WWE workers it's compulsory.

Man I am surprised most people would want to change this one I would think most would change WM 11 for how poor the show was, but I think I can work with WM 13 so here we go.

Bret Hart Vs. Steve Austin
I think these two had to have their match just because they feuded since Brets return to the WWE after losing the title and that was just the way to go.

Rocky Vs Hunter
I think after losing the title at Thursday Raw Thursday and again on In Your House I think they needed one more shot between the two and it would've legitimized Rocky more then his match with the Sultan.

British BullDog vs. Owen Hart.
These two weren't getting along and I think having these two go at it would've helped either rebuild them back together as a tag team before the reformation of the Hart Foundation or it would've given them better singles status.

Tag Team Battle Royal for the tag titles
I believe that the tag team battle royal would've been a big help not only as a filler but given more legitimate status to other tag teams, and in the end could've had a team like LOD or Nation win the titles.

other then that I think all the other matches could've been the same

Ok assuming HBK wasn't hurt, this is where I would have gone with WM 13:

I-C Title:
Mankind vs Rocky Mavia (c)
Mankind was over enough to get Rocky a good rub, a few Mankind attacks on Raw would set this up quickly and easily. Rocky by DQ.

Sid vs Vader
Another feud that really could of been built up quickly. # 1 contender-ship could be at stake again like at IYH. Sid by pin after botched Mankind interference.

Goldust vs HHH
I wouldn't of changed anything about the way this match was booked. HHH wins as he did at WM 13.

No Holds Barred:
Ahmed Johnson vs Faarooq
This feud was hot at the time and after the royal rumble they needed a big stage 1 on 1 match. Faarooq by pin.

Tag Team Titles Fatal 4 Way
British Bulldog/Owen Hart (c) vs L.O.D. vs Furnas/LaPhon vs The New Blackjacks
WM was in Chicago, so LOD in a big time tag match makes sense, Furnas/LaPhon deserved sooo much better than they got in the WWE, and Vega/Crush would of worked due to the NOD push. Owen/Bulldog win by pin on Whindam.

Undertaker vs Crush
This would of been such a typical WWF 1996-1997 feud. Crush and the NOD were hot heading into WM and a feud with 'Taker could of worked. The NOD attacks 'Taker for several weeks leading into WM to set up the match, with Crush laying out 'Taker with the Heart Punch every time. Crush would of benefitted greatly from this rub. Taker wins by pin.

WWF Heavyweight Title:
Brett Hart vs HBK (c) vs Steve Austin w/Ken Shammrock as Referee
Imagine the build up for this one. Austin would of been out of control with his promos. This match would have so much amazing build. It could of been a ratings changer a year early for WWE. The backstage antics would of been interesting with this one. Hart wins by pin and wins the WWF Title.

Plus at the time Vince didn't think HBK vs. Undertaker would not make a believe program due to Shawn Michael's size. Plus I think we are being a bit to prophetic because at the time I guess Shawn Michaels vs. Undertaker would not have worked since there was no reason for them cross paths and since Shawn Michaels was injured to begin with.

I think if I could change the card, I probably would have kept Undertaker in the main event since it was really cool to see him in his first major title run. I don't know about Psycho Sid being the Champion though, I would probably just have given Vader the Title at Final Four to continue his program with Undertaker.

Plus how cool would have been for Paul Bearer to continue his program with Undertaker after this, having Mankind challenge in the Next PPV. And finally culminating with a match at Kane at WM14.

so I guess the major cards would look like this

WWF Heavyweight Championship
Vader(c) vs. The Undertaker

Submission Match
Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold Steve Austin
- No way this should be removed since this was a classic.

Chicago Street Fight
Ahmed Johnson and The Legion of Doom vs. The Nation of Domination
- Way too fun to remove this from the card. Though I would have the ending Johnson finally pinning Faarooq. For some reason he never did.

Grudge Match
Hunter Hearst Helmsley vs. Goldust
- It wasn't even a good match but bearhugging Marelna made the match worth it.

WWF World Tag Team Championship
Owen Hart and The British Bulldog vs. Psycho Sid and Flash Funk
- I never understood why did they have a heel vs. heel tag team at WM13 since it resulted to nothing. Sid was kind of a face here, so I guess they should just had a program with Hart and Bulldog. Then maybe have something with Funk. Of course Hart and Bulldog take it.

Intercontinental Championship
Mankind vs. Rocky Maivia
- With Vader as World Champion maybe Mankind will challenge for the IC Title. Ends in DQ with the Rocky Johnson making the save. So kind of the like Sultan ending?

To be honest I'm fine with the card. The only tweak I would make would be to add the IC title to the submission match with Hart and Austin. Great match and I'm not taking anything away from it but I would have had the IC title on one of them.

I have a couple different scenarios and I’m going to keep mine realistic. Whether or not he was really injured, Shawn Michaels was not available to compete at mania that year. Marc Mero was also not available due to injury. It’s easy to come up with a better card if you can use any wrestler you want, but that’s not realistic.

I’ve posted this opinion many times in the past so some of you may have read this before. My first scenario is keeping everything the same except the tag title match. I would have made the partners opponents. Mankind vs. Vader would have fit in perfectly with the WWF style at the time. They could have given us a memorable hard hitting brawl. Vader had recently taken on Paul Bearer as a manager and they could have easily done some kind of jealously angle with Mankind. Owen Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith, on the other hand, could have given us that classic wrestling match at mania. These two put on a clinic only a few weeks before mania in the European Title tournament final. I feel this match could have taken place at mania. Having the final on the biggest stage would have been a great way to introduce the new title and would have given us another mania classic. The tag title match that did happen was not memorable or significant at all. My scenario would have made for a much better mania.

My second scenario involves changing the main event. Undertaker vs. Sid was probably the most lackluster main event in mania history. I never thought about this until recently, but maybe Vader should have been champion going into mania. He already had a feud going with Taker. Vader already had a victory over Taker at the Royal Rumble which would have given him more credibility for a mania feud. I think Vader vs. Taker would have been a better and more intriguing match than Sid vs. Taker. This would leave Mankind needing an opponent. Rocky Maivia would have been a great opponent for Mankind. The Sultan was nothing and did not belong in an IC title match at mania. The only reason he was there is because Rocky’s original opponent, Marc Mero, had been recently injured. Mankind and Rocky could have easily created a storyline. Rocky was the golden boy who was getting all the big breaks because of his look and his pedigree. Mankind was the deranged freak who didn’t fit into society. The psychotic Mankind could have wanted to destroy the pretty boy Rocky and take his precious IC title in the process. This scenario also allows for the Owen Hart vs. Davey Boy Smith European title match. As strange as it may sound I’d just leave Sid off the card. I know that sounds bad considering he wore the world title into mania, but as I said it was a lackluster main event and Sid wasn’t used after mania anyway. I would have just phased him out before mania.

Regardless of which scenario you prefer for Vader and Mankind, Owen & Davey could have also defended their tag titles against Doug Furnas and Phil Lafon. I also like the idea of the op of Owen & Davey vs. LOD and Ahmed vs. Faarooq in a singles. In my opinion any one of these scenarios would have given us a much better mania than what actually happened.

1. Owen Hart Vs. British Bulldog (C) - Owen goes over with a quick roll up, Davey can win this back anytime, it was pretty much his title anyway.

2. Savio/Crush Vs Godwins Vs Headbangers Vs Blackjacks - Same as idea as the 4 way tag match they had. Don't care who wins. Ahmed could interfere and cost the NOD in the process eliminating two of the NODs most powerful members from his match later on.

2. Rock (c) Vs Mankind Vs Hunter Hearst Helmsley Vs Goldust - Face turn Goldust and start a feud with him and Foley. Rock keeps the title.

3. The LOD (C) Vs. Furnas and LaFon - Furnas & LaFon were not used well in WWF and needed to have the opportunity to showcase what they could do. They had great matches in Japan and in ECW against the Eliminators. LaFon and Furnas weren't WWF champions material by Vince's standards but a good match with capable opponents (Warriors) would have been great.

4. Farooq Vs Ahmed Johnson - Street Fight - Farooq by pinfall. The NOD help Farooq win. Farooq (Simmons) was more important to the WWF as a whole, Ahmed had already proven unreliable and therefore would not deserve a win at 'Mania. He could get that at the next IYH.

5. Stone Cold Vs. Bret Hart - I do not think that anyone would disagree with that one. Only change would be to take Shamrock out of the equation. That was really unnecessary and took just a little bit of the focus off the match.

6. Vader Vs. Undertaker - Vader had been brought in the year before as a monster heel, but had been relegated to tag matches. Having Vader get the world title shot (maybe even going in as champion) would have legitimized Vader as a monster by having a good ol' fashioned no DQ slobber-knocker against Taker.

In a perfect world, Shawn Michaels would have taken part in WrestleMania 13.

My main event would have been Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker. Face vs. Face encounter, would have been a great match. Today, it would probably be mentioned among the greatest main events in Mania history.

I would have kept Austin vs. Bret Hart, same match, for several reasons. It was a launching pad for Steve Austin, this made him a mega-star in wrestling. Also, it was just too awesome of a match to get rid of.

Sid was too important to leave out of Mania, so I would have never booked Ahmed Johnson to join with L.O.D. against the Nation. Johnson vs. Sid could have made for a great monster vs. monster match.

I wouldn't have changed anything else, as the other matches meant nothing anyway. The two top matches, alone, would have made this one of the greastest Mania's of all time.
