What are the chances Sting signs a Bret Hart type deal with WWE?

Pre-Show Stalwart
With Sting's future in TNA in question. I was wondering what the chances were that Sting could wined up with the deal Bret got back when WWE produced his 3-Disc dvd. I think WWE would probably want to release a Sting 3-Disc set chronicling his career in the NWA and WCW. Of Course they would want Sting to pick out his favorite matches, and do an in-depth interview about his career. And as part of the deal, WWE would probably ask for one match from him at WM 24.

So what are the chances to happens? I know Sting has got strong feelings about WWE. But he does have several friends who work there, like Shawn Michaels(a fellow Christian). I'm sure he would like to give his fans such a dvd set while doing something he has yet to do in his career and wrestle at WrestleMania. Once he does that, he will have done everything there is to do as a wrestler basically.

So what do you think? Is there a chance? Keep in mind that he might not re-sign with TNA.

If he does sign a deal with WWE that requires one match at Mania, who do you think his opponent should be? Keeping into consideration that it will be his one and only match with WWE. I would say Sting vs. Shawn Michaels, b/c of their friendship.

I see it happening but again its a long shot, the problem is that sting himself is saying that if he retires from tna he retires permanently, and truthfully, if they ask him to do the similar brett hart deal it wouldnt include wrestling

but heres to hoping

I'm not sure why it comes to my mind, so I can't prove it, but I think I heard in an interview before that when Sting had this chance to go to the WWE with the invasion, he said he'd never do it as he didn't like Vince and didn't like the company. I'd like to see Sting in the WWE, but not as a main event guy. I just don't like TNA lol. However, I don't see it happening if those statements were real.

I don't think Sting has a personal problem with McMahon, he didn't like the direction that the company was in as far as its raciness at the time. Things have calmed down considerably since 2001 for the WWE.

I think Sting is loyal to the legacy of WCW to a fault though, and I could never see him signing a deal with the WWE as far as wrestling.

That being said, Sting will probably be inducted to the Hall of Fame. The WWE, like it or not, and it's Hall of Fame encompasses all of the major North American Territories now. The WWE owns them all, and thus, owns Sting's legacy. I could see the McMahon's telling or asking, hey, we want to honor you with this, your career deserves this, and honestly, I don't think Sting would pass it up at this point in his career.

And eventually the WWE is going to release a Sting DVD with or without Steve Borden's consent. The WWE owns the library, and eventually, they are going to nail all of the tops stars of the past with their own DVD. Sting sells, and the WWE realizes it.

So, I think Sting will have some sort of business relationship with the WWE, but I wouldn't bet any money seeing him in a WWE ring.

I would love to see Sting in WWE, but it ain't gonna happen. He will possibly be one of the few guys that Vince McMahon could not get his grubby hands on, and I think Sting loves the very thought of that. Like Paul Bearer said above, Vince may own the history of Stings career, but I think he will never get the real live Sting in a WWE ring. There is a slight chance that he may accept an HOF ceremony on his behalf and maybe he might shoot promos on certain WWE DVDs, but that is it. Feuds with HBK, Taker, Edge, HHH, and even Ric Flair again will be a dream come true for many wrestling fans and hardcore Sting fans, you never know, anything is possible I guess.

Look who else is retiring next year, Ric Flair. The guy who made Sting. If the WWE and Sting could work something out, it would lead to a HUGE match at Wrestlemania. Not one guy would get booed as they were both retiring afterwards(Unlike the Lesnar/Goldberg match, which was one of the worse recieved in the 19 years I have watched wrestling), the match could go on for ages with nothing but respect on the line.

I don't see a HOF spot for him. Same with several wrestlers. WWE likes to make out that there HOF is legit. But will there ever be a spot in it for Kenta Kobashi or Muta? I doubt it. It's a WWE HOF with people who they consider to be big stars. But while I'm sure Sting is held in high regard, I still don't see him becoming a member. Then again they induct that many people each year that pretty soon we'll be having nobodys inducted.

But I certainly see a DVD. WWE will do it with or without Sting. They own the tapes, if WWE don't see the potential then there stupid. Same with a Savage DVD and a proper Monday Night Wars one. There are matches out there that haven't been released as part of a box set. WWE should go on e-bay and look up WCW tapes and see what there missing out on.

WWE should do whatever they can to sign Sting. Man I would start watching it again on a regular basis just to see Sting written into the Flair storyline. Imagine a Sting vs Flair Wrestlemania match...Whoooo!

I don't see Sting ever in a WWE ring, thankfully. I'd like to see a Sting/Flair WM match, but again, I don't ever see it happening. And please, Sting.. drop that lameass Crow gimmick...it's not exactly new anymore =)

Yes it would be good to see a flair vs sting match because flair did create sting and both are vetrens and champions who have accomplised lots in there careers but i dont see sting signing with WWE because he will probably retire after his tna contract expires

Stings last run in the WWE would defenitely cement his legacy. There is nothing left for him in TNA. They are so many potential feuds for him. Sting should swallow his pride and jump ship.

As a traditionalist and someone who loves sentiment, i could think of no better way for these two to retire. I'm sure Flair would love it and i thoroughly elieve Sting would too. However it's all a case of whether Sting would take that leap that he has always refused in the past and join the WWE.

Flair.
Would be up for it as everyone knows of his affection for Sting and would see no better way of ending his legacy than against Sting. Perhaps only to stand in the ring with the Four Horsemen which isn't going to happen.

Sting.
Like Flair would love to end his career at the top against such a parallel, and equally iconic legend, and close friend (i think) However he would first have to swallow his pride and join the WWE, because i don't believe Sting v Flair in the Impact zone has the same ring

Good ol' Vince Mcmahon
Would love this to go through. It would sell so many PPV's. Despite how many people buy Wrestlemania the ratings are struggling, and a match like this is 50x bigger than the appearance of Donald Trump last year which they plugged so much. It would also be good for VKM's ego, as he would know that Steve Borden couldn't resist him, and even if Sting and the rest of the world knew that Sting did it for himself, Vince would stilol be able to tell himself Sting needed WWE

he will never work for vince

Well i don't think he will either but maybe the opportunity to go out at Wrestlemania against Ric Flair will cancel out any opinion/ feeling he has towards vince??

I'm going to WM, and I've never been a huge Sting fan, but I'd love to see Sting vs Flair at WM24. I have friends that don't even watch wrestling anymore that would buy WM24 just to see that one more time.

I could see it now...
Vince tells Flair he's tired of this winning streak, and he's found the guy that's going to retire him. Sting comes out a few Raw's before and tells Flair he's tired of this old man winning routine, and he's going to end it.

Heel Sting in WWE for a month or so.... WOW!

i saw a video on youtube of sting trashing VKM and saying he would never work for the WWE ever again... but you never know.

if sting really wanted to work for wwe he'd have done it long ago and he'd have done it when he was at his peak. he's made his career in spite of never being in wwe, and is probably better known for NOT being in wwe. i don't see it happening

If it means Sting can say he has done it all. Then I think he could come to some arrangement, which could see him do one match at WrestleMania 24. Against someone like Flair or HBK. This way both he and the WWE can say he worked the Big Show(not Paul Wight) at least once.

Then WWE could offer Sting creative license (like with Bret), in producing a dvd set on his career. Meaning he picks the matches, does commentary for the ones he wants and oversees the interview for the documentary. Then he helps promote the release of the dvd. And that would be all too it. He wouldn't have to do anything else, unless he and WWE came to an arrangement concerning his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

well i doubt he would accept, it would be a amazing deal but WWE has tried to get sting many times b4 and hes refused, he wont go to WWE no matter what, if he would even consider it he would have probably gone years ago when he was in his prime and vince would do anything to get him, now its too late... wich is a shame for us wrestling fans, cuz seriously, even though im a huge sting fan.. hes probably one of my favs of all time, he can still put on some good matches even at this time in his career, hes impressed me in TNA and i think that a last match with flair would be not only great on paper but in reality, even with flair being past his prime, hes not THAT bad nowadays, he can still take some bumps right? but still.. just to hear those names goin head to head on WM for one last time would be awsome

though theres also a side of me that doesnt want sting to go, he didnt need WWE to make his career, he can be considered as one of the best of all time and he didnt need to step into WM or a WWE ring for that matter, and thats something really impressive to be able to say ''i dont need WWE to be one of the best of all time'', i respect sting more for not selling out just for money u know, so many ppl hate another company, but if that company gives them the right amount of money, they will go.... its good to know stings not a ****e lol, he wont sell out, hes sticking with his opinions until the end of his career and that just makes me respect him even more and actually makes him even more impressive, especially in a biz filled with sell outs and ass kissing punks...

Sting and Flair in the retirement match....I just dont care about HHH/HBK wrestling Sting....and if he did go to Wwe id hope that he has learned some big lessons about what not to do...ie Goldberg, Sting needs to be able to say no to Vince thats the biggest thing...because he has had a long carrer in wrestling and at this point really doesnt have anything to prove in Wwe.. More like if Wwe wanted him they would have to prove that they really wanted him, not to screw with his charater like they did Goldberg and the other WCW guys that came over.

I wouldn't consider Sting a 'money ****e' if he decided to sign a one time or short deal with the WWE. It would be more like a dream come true for wrestling fans, maybe even Sting himself, to have competed on the biggest brand in wrestling history. Almost every big name wrestler I can think of, some who we never expected, has appeared in WWF/WWE at least once. It would be obviously also a good PR move on Vince's part bringing in someone with Sting's wholesome image considering the times the WWE is in right now.

I would love to see sting come to the wwe, and deep down I think this can actually happen. If they do pair him up with Flair I hope it's not like their last match on the final Nitro. I would pay just to see Sting in a WWE ring

I think Sting would be willing to come to WWE if he got to wrestle Ric Flair at WM 24. Sting and Ric have been friends almost since the beginning of Sting's career. I think he would consider it an honor to do the job for Flair in his last match. Flair did the job for Sting at the last Nitro, and if I remember correctly, Sting was contemplating retirement at that point. It seems fair, and nothing short of a storybook ending for one of the greatest wrestlers ever, as well as one the best long-standing rivalries in the history of wrestling. Who knows, it could even be a retirement match for Sting as well. A one-time shot in the WWE. And he could retire saying that he had wrestled in every major wrestling promotion during his career. WWE definitely wants Sting, there's no doubt about it. If they're willing to try and mend things with Hogan, then they're sure to be interested in Sting. But, the ball is completely in Sting's court, and he's never really shown any interest in going to WWE. Has he ever explained why? Like in an interview, has he ever said,"I don't want to wrestle in WWE because ______"? But for Ric, I think Sting would do it. I think almost every respectable star in wrestling would be willing to do it for Flair.

well it depends on the deal for him to be considered a ''money ****e'', like if it was a deal where he would get tons of money to go to WM and face, oh lets say cena... well in that case im pretty sure he would go just for the money

cuz sure sting at WM is many fans dream, but is it really stings dream? WWE has always tried to pick him up and he always refused, he hates WWE (or vince.. dont know wich one really, or both lol) and if it was really his dream to be at WM he would've signed a deal with WWE a long time ago

probably many wrestlers dream is to go to WM.. but i think sting doesnt give a shit, and the only reason he would consider goin is for this deal these users thought up, and that is a retirment match for both him, and probably one of his best friends or wrestler he most respects, ric flair in the biggest stage of wrestling.. cuz thats what both of them deserve, hell it should even be the main event even if it isnt a title match (wich it probably wouldnt be anyway)

so my point is, if sting were to go to face flair... then i know its not for money, hes got personal reasons to go, now if he were to go to face some1 like cena, batista, or hell even taker or HHH then my guess is it would probably be just for money...

What about Shawn Michaels? Over the years they have developed a friendship, based on their Christianity. I could see Sting want to wrestle Shawn Michaels at WM.

If Sting were to wrestle at Mania it would be for either Flair or HBK. Not that he harbors any grudge against the others you brought up. It's just that if he doesn't like WWE's overall product, and that this was a one match deal then he would pick a friend over someone like HHH to wrestle.

oh ya... i 4got about HBK.. well im not sure how close they are but if they indeed did creat a friendship then ya i guess he might go if it was to face shawn... but again he would have a personal reason

i dont think he has any grudge against any of the WWE wrestlers though its like u said, if he doesnt like WWE why would he wanna go to somewhere he hates to face guys like cena? does he have anything to prove by facing cena? or any of the others i mentioned?.. not really... though maybe he would go to end takers streak.. i dont see what wrestler wouldnt want to be the one who ended it.. then again i think sting believes he deosnt have anything else to prove (wich is true) so him going to end takers streak is an even slimmer chance than going to face flair or HBK...
