What any 2 wrestler's would you love to watch have a best of 5 series?

dwith

Pre-Show Stalwart
It could be endless possibilities in the world of wrestling, but who would you love to watch in this series, and why?

Mine would be John Morrison vs AJ Styles. I think they would have a tremendous series of matches with their aresenal of moves. They both can high fly, and mat wrestle, and both are very agile. I think they could work some exciting matches just as well as AJ and Christopher Daniel's have done over the years.

The only other 2 wrestler's I would like to see wrestle a best of 5 series would be Kurt Angle vs Dolph Ziggler. They both have mad wrestling skill's and I think they would blow the roof off of the building with a series of matches. It could be the best wrestling matches of all time with the skill of these 2 guy's.

So what are some wrestler's you woudl love to see most go best of 5, and why?

I would love to see a Daniel Bryan vs Kurt Angle series if Kurt was still in his prime. Two of the best submission wrestlers I have ever seen, who work a great realistic mat based style. It would be intense.

AJ Styles vs RVD in his prime around the turn of the century. Both these guys are/were so innovative, every single match could be totally different, spectacular and give me things I had never seen before. MOTY candidates for sure, RVD was incredible at this point in time, and Styles is always world class.

Taz v Kurt Angle. Taz was an animal at his peak, and Angle is one of the only guys who can do a suplex at the level that Taz could. These two would have some ferocious battles.

AJ Styles vs Rey Mysterio in his prime. Similar to RVD in that Rey was so creative, exciting and spectacular. Throw in a few gimmick matches like ladders and you have yourself some amazing high-spots.

Well I was thinking that you were talking only of current wrestlers. But then I saw the word 'any'. So I have a few:

Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle.

Just think about that for a minute. Close your eyes and just let the vision of two of the greatest technicians ever have a best of 5 series. If Vince had kept Bret for nothing else but to have a match against Angle, it would have been well worth it. That is what pisses me off the most about the Screwjob is the possibilities of a match like that, is forever lost.

Randy Savage vs. Kurt Angle

A man who was the perfect combination of aerial maneuvers and mat wrestling is Randy Savage. He was perfectionist. He planned out the best matches in terms of storytelling. Before HBK became Mr. WM, Randy Savage was the one who wore that crown. SO to me it would be great to see both Angle and Savage in their prime against each other.

Daniel Bryan vs Bret Hart

Two solid mat wrestlers in the ring, it would be fun to watch.

Bret Hart vs. Shelton Benjamin/ Charlie Haas

I think Bret could easily help these guys. Benjamin and Haas are talented performers, I think the experience would help them and Bret is very good at working with younger performers.

Ricky Steamboat vs. Tito Santana

Both Ricky Steamboat and Tito Santana are great performers who never got their due. Well at least Santana doesn't anyway. These guys had some great rivalries against Randy Savage. Santana had a great rivalry with Greg Valentine. To see these two go at it in the ring at their prime.

Ricky Steamboat/ Tito Santana vs. Kurt Angle

Both Santana and Steamboat are outstanding performers who stole the show as midcard performers in WWF. This would be great to see what Angle would do with two great performers like Santana and Steamboat.

i agree with the poster who said samoa joe vs vader, that would be an excellent match; and one i have never thought of.

i would say HBK(2005-06, or hell, even now) vs Dolph Ziggler would be some instant classics, i would imagine these two would work well together, and Dolph has that same 'steal the show' -(follow that!)- mentality as HBK so i'm sure they would have some fun out there.

I would have loved and I mean loved to have seen a 5 match series that included matches like a Texas bullrope, I quit, steel cage/hell in a cell, barbwire ropes/barbwire around the ropes matches between to tough Texan sob's like Stone cold Steve Austin and Stan the Lariat Hansen, these would have been some of the bloodiest and brutal matches probably to ever take place in the history of wrestling.

Kaval vs Kurt Angle

There are really only two wrestling styles that whenever you put masters of them in a ring together one on one you are going to get a fantastic match every time. They are High Flying vs Technical/Mat grappling, Kurt is one of the be best in terms of grounded mat realistic style, and low Ki/Kaval is one of the best in terms of the ferocity levels of his unique kicks, and high risk offense. Like Rey Mysterio vs Angle at Summerslam 2002 this match would be the ultimate showcase of two different styles once again coming together to produce a great freaking match. Plus in terms of creativity these best of five would prosper due tot he huge arsenals of both men. Kurt can carry anyone in the business but Low Ki does not need to be carried, when you have 2 special warriors you are going to get something special. They could tell great stories of Kaval being the underdog that needs to do crazy and innovative moves (Areal, ground, or striking) to get a win over a more intelligent Angle. Anyway 5 matches between these 2 would definitively have me glued to the TV screen.

I would love an early 90's Surfer Sting (ability wise, not character), to take on a 2005 Shawn Michaels. I don't care what anyone says HBK in 2005 was the best I've ever seen him and same with Sting in the early 90's. Both are known to go for quite awhile in the ring, have explosive and unique offense and awesome characters. A best of 5 feud with these two would be off the charts, and I do think that each match would be a serious contender for match of the year honors.

A series I'd love to see happen today would have to be AJ Styles vs. Rob Van Dam. I thought it was going to happen around Sacrifice 2010, when they had their World Title match, but it didn't develop into a series. These two could put on all types of awesome matches. A basic singles match, a No DQ match, a falls count anywhere match, a table match, a ladder match etc. The only thing better than a series of matches between the Phenomenal One and the Whole F'N' Show, would be a series of gimmick matches between the two. I'm really hoping TNA give this to their fans at some point. It's too good an opportunity not to capitalise on it.

A series I would've loved to have seen in the past would be the Outsiders vs. the New Age Outlaws. They're two of my favourite tag team teams of all time and I really wish I'd seen a feud between these four men. The mic work and interaction between the two teams would've been fantastic IMO.

Interesting topic. It's fun to just immerse yourself in fantasy sometimes. In no particular order, my top picks would be:

Ricky Steamboat vs. Macho Man Randy Savage - Both of these guys in their early to mid 30s would and could put on matches that'd make your toes curl with joy. Greatness and epic are just a couple of the words that could be used to describe such a series between these two.

CM Punk vs. AJ Styles - This would be an internet fan's dream match to say the least. Both of these men are just extremely damn good inside the ring and, again, each of their matches could have a monumental feeling about them. Stick them in the ring, give them at least 20-30 minutes to work and watch 5 matches that'd all be contenders for match of the year.

Kurt Angle vs. Daniel Bryan - Here are two other guys that, from an all aroud perspective, are just damn good in the ring. Angle in his prime was an athletic beast that could wrestle anyone, could adapt to any style. Daniel Bryan is someone that I think the surface has just barely been scratched. These two would be able to tell a great story and would be a feud that fans debated about for years.

James Storm vs. Cody Rhodes - I just think that these two could work extremely well together. The matches might not have quite the same epic feeling about them on the surface as the others have, but I have a feeling this series would be a diamond in the rough. We'd go into the series expecting some really good matches and they'd ultimately exceed our expectations.

Randy Orton vs. Robert Roode - Basically, same as above with Storm vs. Rhodes.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Austin Aries - Any match between these two has the potential to be a show stealer. Two highly energetic, athletic, charismatic heels going at it tooth & nail just to be able to say "I'm better than you are". By the time the series ended, both guys would probably be so over that they'd have to be changed to babyfaces.

I definitely agree that Styles vs Morrison would be a kickass match but i have another one in mind.

AJ Styles vs Chris Jericho
This one is a dream match for yours truely, my favorite man from the WWE against my favorite TNA boy, to have Styles in his prime and Undisputed Champion era Y2J clash would drive me nuts. Jericho would build the shit out of it with his unrivaled mic skills and the combination of their their talent and moves would make this match unforgettable. I definitely feel like their styles(haha) would mesh really well and I chose Jericho from back in the day because he used alot more springboard moves which would create some great back and forth action. I would have Styles win it by rolling out of the walls and into Styles Clash, if it could be executed well it would be an awesome reversal and a kickass win.

Some really great suggestions by people do far. Here are my picks, no particular order:

Brian Pillman vs AJ Styles - With these two in their prime this would have been an amazing set of matches. They are two of the best light heavyweights the business has ever seen and would have had 5 star matches every time. Both can not only pull off all the big spots and finishes but are also two of the best storytellers of their generations.

Mankind vs Hulk Hogan - Now bear with me here folks, because I am being quite serious. I really believe that the Mankind of 96 would have made a perfect opponent for the early 90's Hogan. Considering the fact that Hogan, as the untouchable superhero that we all knew, had basicly done everything there was to.do in wrestling at that point, Mankind stands out to me as both a character and worker that could have helped carry Hulk into a whole new era. Hogan was a good brawler, but had never really gone down the hardcore route before, and what better guy than the sick and deranged Foley to carry Hulk through all sorts of table spots and backstagebrawls.

Lance Storm vs Own Hart - Two amazing technical wrestlers who could have been magic together in the ring. Especially if you had Owen from 1995 and Lance from 98/99. They both possessed increadible timing and both had an awesome mix of both traditional and original wrestling moves.

Daniel Bryan v William Regal. Apprentice v His master. I like the idea of Regal having one last run in the ring and who better to have it against. The matches would be hard hitting an full of excellent matt and submission wrestling.

Dolph Ziggler vs. Cody Rhodes - Idk, I just believe that these two will have amazing chemistry together. I don't remember a bad match from Dolph Ziggler recently. Maybe except Mason Ryan's own but still, who can make Ryan look good. Anyway, Rhodes has become very well rounded in the ring and Ziggler and him can put on a show like no other. They feel like indy guys with charisma. Just awesome.

John Morrison vs. Austin Aries - Seems like we'll be getting this as soon as TNA signs Morrison. Very athletic guys and will be the face of the X-Division for a long time, I believe. They can both bring out the best in each other and I believe can be a long term feud much like Christian/Orton.

AJ Styles vs Dolph Ziggler: I personally cannot get enough of Ziggler's ring work recently, and AJ's back catalogue of excellent matches speaks for itself. 5 matches between these two would bring some excellent wrestling, and something new in each match.

CM Punk vs Chris Hero: I know they've done it on the indies, but I would love to see current Punk vs current Hero in a WWE environment. I can't see this being anything short of excellent. And as before, There'd be something new each time, which is vital in a series of matches with only 2 guys.

Shawn Michaels vs CM Punk: One of the matches I wished happened before HBK retired, but sadly, not to be. A bit more of a personal taste one, as I'm a huge Punk fan as well as a HBK mark, but imagine Punk bringing up HBK's past during promos to make it more personal as it went on. Again, each match could be incredibly creative, and the ring work would be superb.

Shawn Michaels vs Eddie Guererro: I can't think of any way that this would be a bad match. As dream matches go, I'd imagine this would be on many peoples lists, and very high up, too. Five of them? Fuck yes.

Aj styles vs Justin Gab just because of there highflying ability just picture it Aj styles doing the Superman (Springboard 450° splash) and Justin doing the 450 splash his self they both just wowing the crowd it would be a great x division match

Aj styles vs Evan bourne again highfling ability

MotorCity MachineGunz vs Brian Kendrick and Paul London (At there prime) These two are the only tag team who are truely compatiable with eachother they both know there partners so well and have great tag team moves Tna need to bring in Paul London

If anything was on the table, and nothing was holding them back...I'd love to see a best-of-five between the current versions of CM Punk and Christopher Daniels. If it could happen in an alternate universe, where anything could conceivably happen here's how I would book it:

Match 1: Indie match at a Ring of Honor event where both men happened to be visiting from their respective companies. Punk is a ROH legend, and Daniels considers himself one of the founding fathers of the company. CM Punk gets the win via submission.

Match 2: Daniels runs his mouth on Impact about how Punk sold-out and went to the "big leagues" because he couldn't hack it as a "real wrestler". Punk shows up in TNA (because he's Punk, and he doesn't give a shit about rules) and the match is booked. Daniels wins after Samoa Joe interferes, playing off the classic Joe/PUnk rivalry from back in the day.

Match 3: Punk demands that WWE hire Daniels and Joe to temporary contracts or he'll walk out of the company again and go to TNA to make the grudge match happen. They oblige, and the match goes down in Detroit (Daniels home town) at whatever show that may be. Joe tries to get involved, but Daniel Bryan evens the odds (again, an old ROH feud) and Punk picks up the victory.

Match 4: Daniels isn't happy about the way he lost and demands to finish this up in a best-of-five series. Since the 3rd match was in Daniels home town, the do the 4th in Chicago. Daniels picks up the victory by cheating...somehow.

At some point in the mix they'd have to have a Punk/Bryan vs. Joe/Daniels tag team match to further the feud on weekly TV, and because it's a dream match of mine that needs to happen.

Match 5: WrestleMania, the biggest stage of them all. Punk is confident and claims that if Daniels is good enough to beat him at WrestleMania in front of 75,000 screaming fans, he'll quit and give up his permanent contract. But to keep out Joe and Bryan, the match takes place inside a Steel Cage. Finish would of course be Daniels missing the BME off the top of the cage, and Punk locking in the Anaconda Vice for the submission victory.

Dusty Rhodes vs Hulk Hogan - probably would not be a technical wrestling extravaganza (altho Big Dust was a pretty decent holds & moves guy in his day) but you have arguably the two most charismatic, crowd pleasing fan favorites of the 80's head to head. Put this match in 1986 and it's as big as Hogan/Andre, or as big as Hogan/Flair would have been if done at that time.

Tully Blanchard vs Shawn Michaels - Two great performers, great mic guys, niether of whom was afraid to try something different in a match. Blanchard was a little better technical wrestler, HBK a better high flyer, and both could be great heel characters, very creative rulebreakers. They performed well against each other in some excellent Brain Busters vs Rockers matches around 1989, but these two, in each one's prime (probably 86-87 for Blanchard, 95-96 for HBK) would have been great.

Morrison vs. MVP- I really liked MVP, he was good on the mic, a great heel, and had a great character. I loved the whole "i want more money even though i'm the highest paid superstar" thing. And Morrison has the whole show-off rockstar character, I think these guys were BORN to feud for championships. It just seems they were never on the same brand.

Orton vs. Morgan- Two awesome wrestlers, both are very great in every aspect of wrestling. I think they would make a great feud.

Undertaker vs. Abyss- Clash of the Titans... nuff said.

Sheamus vs. Triple H- Sheamus is in my opinion, the new Triple H. Big, strong, Irish, it would be awesome to see them brawl it out.

Morrison vs. HBK- The one feud these guys had was amazing! And Morrison added the ultimate insult with a perfect Sweet Chin Music to Triple H's skull! These guys would sell out every show.

Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle -These two men in their prime would have been something you show your children when explaining why you love wrestling. A best of 5 series would destroy any other before it, with good reason. 2 of the best (if not the best) tecnical wrestlers of all time. My god, the matches we could have seen. These 2 would have easily stole the show of any card they were on.

Taz vs Samoa Joe -Damn fine example of 2 men leaving it all in the ring. At their peaks, this could be one of the most brutal match series of all time. Intense? Taz was fucking intense & Joe could easily hang with him. Both guys have been known to brawl, but have great submissions and a vast aresenal of suplexes. Overall, fantastic series that I would have loved to witness.

motor city machine guns vs the hardy boyz
dream tag match.

randy orton vs austin aries
so much alike it's kinda weird.

daniel bryan vs samoa joe
submissions dream

Eddie Guerrero (face circa WWE) v. Ric Flair (in-his-prime heel)

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO the dirtiest player in the game WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO up to his parlor tricks and in his prime against a man so like and so unlike himself -- could I say, in loud booming Howard Finkel voice 'A FEEEEUD FUUUUUUR DIE AEEEEEEGIES'... sadly, one is dead and the other, rotting.

Aj Styles(in his prime) VS. Samoa Joe(in his prime)

Best matches of the X-Division hands down involved these guys. Aj can usually work with anyone and produce a fantastic match but with Christopher Daniels and Joe it just clicked. The reason i didn't pick Daniels is because he's had like two iron matches with him,and i believe multiple ultimate x matches, and a couple of world title matches all with Styles winning. I know the base of their feud was Daniels not being able to be Styles but too much in the past has led to believe Daniels has no chance making the matches in and of themselves boring for me. Joe on the other hand has the size advantage making it really interesting in seeing if Aj can defeat Joe. Plus their turning point match i believe is one of my favorite matches ever. And the reason I don't want to see multiple Styles vs Daniels vs Joe matches is because once again their too predictable.

HBK vs Kurt Angle: Both these guys are terrific in the ring and also on the mic, the promos, the lead up and the actual matches would be amazing. Everyone and their daughters knows about their match at WrestleMania 21 and how good it was, so for these guys to have a best of 5 would be amazing. Just thinking about it makes me miss the old days of these two together in the WWE..

Edge vs Sting: Both guys are perfect for eachother. Sting is one of the most over faces of all time and Edge has been one of the best heels of all time. Edge could do his coward act that he does while Sting can do his "superhero" act. These guys I believe would have amazing chemistry in the ring and also outside of it that it would be a perfect matchup.

I think a Sin Cara vs. Rey Mysterio would be a awesome match. They both have a awesome background in high flying. So it would make a awesome ladder match.

Umaga vs. Big Show
That is a little random. But I wonder if Big Show would beat him or not.

Hulk Hogan vs. John Cena
This is also random. I am a random person.

CM Punk vs. Stone Cold
Both of these men are best in the world. Nuff said.

Tully Blanchard vs HHH. Two very intense and great wrestlers. Both have the mean steaks and both put on solid matches.
I would call this next one the enforcers match. It involves my two favorite stables.
Arn Anderson vs Terry Gordy. AA is a master at bringing down big men and could wear down Gordy but Gordy violent streaks could catch AA in one or two matches.
Ole and Gene Anderson vs BrainBusters. Only two other teams can match up with these two and that's the Road Warriors and Steiners. Sorry Dudleys fans they don't belong in the same category as these four. Anyway as far as the match goes Three and indentcial in there tag styles. I see this going to the fifth one, with Tully with a dirty move and then sets up AA to get the spinebuster, and then their finisher to win in five matches.
