BEER MONEY
First of all this is my very first post an i wernt sure were to put it at so just move it if its in the wrong place thanks.

The other day i was on wwe.com and i was looking around and then i noticed that there is now a wcw.com.It has a look at older wcw stars and also thru the history of wcw.Now we know HHH will be taking over when ever vince decided to step down and he has always been kinda high on some wcw things. So my ? to all of yall is do you think that maybe im reading to much into this or that maybe we will be getting some wcw type things back in wwe such as like war games. Thanks

Well there was talk about replacing Survivor Series with War Games and WWE held a poll and fans didnt really like the idea so they scrapped it.

Also im pretty sure that WWE have had that WCW bit site up and running for quite a while now. Nothing to look into really, just a way to let the new fans know WCW exsisted and help towards DVD sales of WCW products and such.

I would rather them bring back and use the name Halloween Havoc for an annual WWE October PPV than War Games. Maybe I am thinking too much but would WWE even consider using War Games as a name with the word War in it. I know when they dropped War from Raw is War it was at a time when it possibly made sense but even now with things still ongoing and the whole PG thing would they still be weary of using the word?

Anyway I never knew about WCW.com so I shall check it out, thankyou.

the only reason it was called raw is war is because of the monday night wars. There was no point in continuing with that name after VKM bought out WCW.

I think halloween havoc was one of the choices also but the majority of the fans chose vengeance which im not too dissapointed about

Well that maybe so but the reason they dropped the War part from the name was due to the events of September 11th aswell as the end of the Monday Night Wars. I am sure it would have been dropped either way because of the end of WCW as you said but the War part came from the Warzone section of War aswell as being influenced by the Monday Night Wars. Anyway that is neither here nor their but as for Halloween Havoc I really like that as a name and always have...Vengence is ok but it's been done and although Halloween Havoc is an old name also I think it is great.

Doesn't WWE still use "Raw Zone" and "War Zone" during the Raw broadcast? If I'm not mistaken, when the second hour starts up have the little graphic that pops up that says the show's copyright info/whatnot that says "Raw Zone" and when the show ends it says "War Zone" still....Again, I could be wrong, but I will definitely look on the broadcast this Monday to make sure (if anybody could confirm/deny I would appreciate it).

But back to the topic at hand...

I remember back in the day (I wanna say 1997?) WCW mailed out a CD-ROM to their mailing list subscribers that one could use to access the "WCW Powersite" in conjunction to the WCW.com website that allowed people to get a pretty in-depth biography on the talent and an at-the-time exclusive promo from the wrestlers (kind of what you would find on Prime Time Wrestling or Superstars of Wrestling from the late 80s/early 90s where they would just say something in general/not discuss a feud with so-and-so). I wonder if - and that's a big if - the CD-ROM would still work today...I'll have to dig it out and try it...

WWE dropped all references to "War" in 2001. Raw Zone has nothing to do with "War Zone." It's the area that Raw is happening hence the Raw Zone. That's what a zone is. If I'm wrong I'll own up to it but Vince made a pretty big deal after 9/11 and the whole Afghan/Iraq war saying that these guys aren't heroes nor are they "soldiers." That's why the announcers/wrestlers generally don't refer to themselves as soldiers or make war references, even though sometimes it comes into play.

As for the WCW site, Vince knows it's dead and buried but there are people who still live and died by WCW that watch wrestling. People do wonder where the folks who made up the roster the days they were younger and watched and this is a good chance for them to display that. The site is just for displaying the history of the WCW and such. The WWE will never again use WCW Pay Per Views and it's just for the fans.

Oh wow they showed a current pic of Billy Kidman on there and he got chunky. Kind of sad really, he used to be a pretty good cruiser weight.

Well im hoping that with that site up and all im hoping that they decided to put out more wcw dvds. They could do with the three biggest wcw dvds like they did with wwe big three and put them out in a box set

It's funny, I wasn't a big fan of WCW after 1999, the company had just gotten out of control with too many egos butting heads. But I look back on it nostalgically... it was a great time to be a wrestling fan. It takes prime competition to make all parties involved better. We need another "WCW" to directly compete with WWE, it's good for the industry, and I hope in 5 to 10 years that TNA and ROH will have grown their business enough to do so. But I digress.

Yes, the WCW section of the site just seems to be for retrospective purposes. There's that hypothetical "New nWo" article that I think some people are taking far too literally. There's always a chance it could happen in some fashion... but it would have to be handled very carefully in a certain way. Ron Killings and Miz seem like they're going to be a new form of "Outsiders" anyway with the current storyline, there's just no way for them to make the same impact as Hall & Nash did in 1996. The circumstances aren't even the same. I dunno, we'll see I guess.

For PPV names, personally, I think they should use Starrcade instead of Vengeance and make it a bigger show. Then WWE can say they promote the two most memorable and prominent PPV presences in the industry, Starrcade and WrestleMania.

Also, I think Night of Champions should be renamed Clash of the Champions. Still gets the point of the show across with some past recognition to WCW.
