Was there ever a followup to this story line?

I'm sure you all remember the "McMahon Million Dollar Giveaway!" back a few summers ago. Each week, Vince gave $1,000,000 out to fans in different portions (I still feel bad for the person that only got a dollar).

But this story was ended when the RAW set kind of fell apart. There was a lighting fixture that fell down from the rafters above, then there was a couple other things that happened before the stage collapsed and Mr. McMahon fell down with it.

Next week we're told that the McMahon family wanted their privacy and that they did not want to disclose any information to the public.

McMahon returned to television in January when he got punted in the head by Randy Orton. I don't remember a followup to the stage explosion.

Did I miss something? Was that story line ever tied up and officially ended?

I honestly can't remember...I don't think there was...there was a lot of speculation that The Undertaker did it as he was set to come back soon at the time, but I really can't remember...good question!

Good thread idea! I bet it was just an excuse to wrap it up. Obviously they couldn't have intended to continue giving a million dollars a week out forever. Rather than just be like, "We're done giving money away" I think this was a way to get people's attention off it. Didn't this happen right around the same time that Vince McMahon "died" in that limo explosion? I dunno, because I wasn't following WWE too closely at the time.

if im not mistaken i think that was the same time the benoit trajedy had accured, i remember mr. mcmahon coming out and telling everyone something about the death of benoit and that it would no longer be mentioned in the show, and i think thats how that storyline ended, i may be wrong though, its been a while, and my memory's a bit fuzzy

There should've been a followup to the storyline in which Vince was the father of a WWE superstar currently on the roster. It ended up being Hornswaggle...but it was revealed as a joke by DX. This was back in 2006. If I'm not mistaken, Drew McIntyre was teaming with William Regal on Smackdown. I think if they ever brought that storyline back and got his visa figured out, it would make sense to go back to it and have him be a McMahon. That would explain why he's the chosen one.

You are getting a little confused, that was the limo accident in 2007, not the stage accident in 2008.

This was to write off his character on-screen as he didn't want to have much of an on-screen presence with the company.

The limo explosion happened the summer before the "Million Dollar Giveaway."

McMahon was presumed dead and then that weekend the Benoit tragedy occurred. The following RAW was the 3-Hour Benoit tribute. McMahon was gone for maybe two months and then returned and that started the "illegitimate child" story line which lasted until Wrestlemania the following year. After that was when McMahon started giving away $1,000,000 each week. Then the stage collapse happened.

Hope that clears this up!

The stage collapse was also used as a way to end the million dollar mania because it wasn't drawing ratings as the company had hoped.
