Da Big Champ

Pre-Show Stalwart
I'm sure many are wondering what I mean so he I go.
About 2 years ago WWE swapped the brands of the US and IC title and what I want to know is if you think that it was a good idea. The IC title is part of the Triple Crown championship and which makes it more prestigue and with it's history it should be a step to a world title. The IC title is a better title and is more of a step to the ME and what I want to know is Did WWE make the right decision by swapping the brands for the titles?
IMO WWE made a bad decision by doing this because the IC title has only had 1 non former IC champion hold the title whereas the US title has had 4 guys who hadn't held the US title before the trade. 2 of the guys (Kofi Kingston and Bret Hart) also held the IC title so they are uneffected by the decision however for Miz and R-Truth this could be the difference between getting their Triple Crown Championship.
Do you think changing the brands for the titles was a good idea?

I don't really see the problem in changing the brands. There's not really a large achievement in becoming a Triple Crown Champion anymore, because it's not an official championship you can hold. The regular fan doesn't get that pointed out to him or her anymore.

The fact that it's only something you could find out about through the Internet makes it less relevant. So achieving this wouldn't mean anything.

There's been very little examples where it has actually been talked about. The only one I know of is the Grand Slam introduction, with Shawn Michaels. A Grand Slam Champion is an impossible feature to gain anymore due to the European championship having defected. And there's nobody who's waiting for a championship reign to step up and become a Grand Slam Champion.

The brand of which the championships are on is irrelevant. The championships are both considered stepping stones into the main event now. And that's what matters, being elevated through the championships, so does it really matter which championship you're elevated through? I think not.

So I have to admit. I couldn't care less which brand it's on.

The two titles are interchangeable, and are pretty much the same, as is the WWE, and world heavyweight championship are the same as each other. The prestige of each belt depends on which superstar is holding it at the time, the only difference between the belt sets is where the belt originated, be it WWF or WCW.

Doesn't matter, your wrong about the triple crown aswell, the triple crown now is holding:

World Heavyweight champion and/or WWE Champion
IC Champion and/or US Champion
Tag titles..

Doesn't matter which brand they are on...both titles are equivilent...the US title played a major stepping stone title in WCW back in the days just like the IC title did...You can't say the IC title is better than US title, but some can argue..

I voted don't care...doesn't really matter..

honestly it makes no difference, u say thi Intercontinental championship has more history, yet the united states championship dates back to the territories it was just defunct for a while after WWF unified it with the intercontinental, not because the intercontinental was a more prestigous title but as a way to further bury WCW

I wouldnt say necessarily that the two are the same equivalent. The IC title has a history that WWE recognizes as to they really dont reference the history of the US Title. They dont recognize winner of the US title when they talk about triple crown. If that were the case then John Cena would be a Triple Crown winner. The Triple Crown is good have on your resume but only a few wrestlers have done it and the last to do it was CM Punk and he did it in I think 268 days.

I think they should recognize it as an equivalent title as they are both being used as a stepping stone to get to the next level. Only thing I dont get is with the IC being superior to the US title, I dont understand why it left the flagship show

It doesn't matter, simple as that. Both the Intercontinental and United States Championships are equal in terms of value and recognition, same with the WWE and World Heavyweight championships. Neither one is superior to the other as they both have a lot of history and many great athletes have held them.

I voted I dont care because its basically the same prestige. Its the middle card championship. The US title has the vibe of Smackdown though. Its neither good or bad, it just is a event thats it to me.

Like many others said it really doesn't matter but I have to say that I think the WWE swapping the I.C. title for the U.S. title was a very good idea. True, while their has only been one person on Smackdown to held the I.C. title that never held it before. But you didn't look at how much the prestige of the I.C. has risen since its been on Smackdown. The I.C title was barley even paid attention to on Raw and was barley defended. They had guys like Santino Marella and William Regal holding the title and while their good they can't be taken seriously as I.C. Champion. And even when guys like Jericho, Punk, and Kofi held the belt it was still pretty over looked. Then when it was switched to Smackdown Jericho and Mysterio both brought back the excitment and prestige to the I.C. title by putting on classic matches at Extreme Rules, The Bash, etc... (that has to be considered one of the fueds of the year last year). And even fueds like Morrison vs Ziggler, Morrison vs McIntyre, and McIntyre vs Kingston have been good fueds over the I.C. title. I wouldn't exactly say they were classics or even a fued to be remembered like Jericho and Mysterio but better than what we saw with Raw. Speaking of Raw lets go to them with the U.S. title, I honestly have to say I'm pretty impressed with how Raw has been handling the U.S. title as of lately. With the excpeption of Bret Hart winning the title its been okay. Even though The Miz has been holding the title for the majority of this year he's been doing a good job as the U.S. champ. Although I do wish he would defend it more and R-Truth could have had a longer reign as U.S. champ than he did. So far I think the WWE made a good decision by swapping the titles, it brought freshness to each brand and brought a little bit more prestige to each title.
