Since piper is showing back up on WWE lately I got to wondering about him and his legacy. I have always been curious about Roddys tough guy reputation. You hear a lot of stories about guys who were legit tough guys and could legit fight. I know with piper he had some sort of rep for being a legit tough guy and im not exactly sure where that legend comes from I think I probably heard guys saying he was a bad dude in shoot interviews but I cant really recall who said it. Also his background is kinda well known he was in the ring as a teenager facing some very tough veterans back in the day. So I know he was known for having heart and guts and being tough in terms of maybe being able to withstand a lot of pain and punishment. But there is a difference between being tough in a mick foley sense and being tough in a haku sense. Mick probably hasn't been in a vicious real life fight, hes too nice a guy. Haku and Bruiser Brody and those types would kill your ass. I am curious where Roddy fits into that group.
I do remember hearing a story about Roddy when he was in WCW apparently he was teaming with Flair against Hall and Nash and roddy apparently screwed the match up and when they got to the back Nash has said in shoot interviews that he confronted Roddy about it. I guess Roddy said something to Kev and Nash says he basically smacked Roddy fully expecting to fight because he knew Roddy had a rep for being a bad dude. Then Nash said Roddy backed down and didn't do nothing. Nash said he felt kinda bad after because he kinda exposed Roddy. Now I know some of you will say that Nash was a lot bigger and younger but still man to not do anything at all is very weak. I mean a real badass would do something in return they don't fear no man. But I am sure Roddy won his share of fights in his time. So do you guys think Roddy was legit tough or kinda an urban legend. Also I am not bashing his career at all. This post is about his tough guy behind the scenes rep not his actual character and in ring abilities.
