War-Games in the WWE?

Occasional Pre-Show
So, I was reading the stables thread and there has recently been a rumor going around that the WWE is going to have a War Games match possibly at the Survivor Series. So, my question is, doesn't the WWE have to have a stable to make this work?

The beauty of the War Games matches was the good guys always tried to take out the Horseman. You had the fan fav's versus the baddest faction ever. With the break up of Legacy, who would you like to see participate?

My mind takes me to the Likes of Punk's SES. Inevitably, he will bring in new members. Joey Mercury is returning and there were rumors at one time that Lance Cade would be joining the group. Add in Gallows and would you like to see those four compete?

I think Morrison and Christian would be my first picks to watch in a match like this. Edge and Jericho would be interesting leading groups in the match.

So, do you have to have a stable to make it work? Who would you like to see?

Factions don't carry as much weight as they once did, particularly in the WWE. If War Games is going to be implemented in the WWE, then it'll probably wind up taking place as part of the Bragging Rights or Survivor Series ppvs. Bragging Rights is probably the more likely choice.

The concept of two rings is something that could be different in and of itself in the WWE because they've never done it to my knowledge. It could add some additional elements to other matches that would take place during the ppv as well. With proper build up, War Games could be a very fun addition to any WWE ppv or even a ppv concept all on its own. The only real downside is the WWE's policy on blood. Cages matches of any type can't really reach their full potential without blood. It's just how it is.

Even still, I'd love to see War Games make a return. It was a unique concept back in its day and it was just plain damn fun to watch.

I read that there was talk of War Games returning at the Bragging Rights PPV in a RAW vs. SD match. This would make the most sense to me if it were to come back. I personally don't feel that it needs to return, but I suppose they could do it if they wanted. In their current PG format, it might not be as entertaining as it once was.

i think it would still be entertaining in its current format... remember this is a match that had bobby eaton submit to an arm bar... a freakin arm bar!!! I like the idea of factions fighting it out in the cage... even though it probably will end up raw vs smackdown... the factions would have been more fun... its too bad legacy and DX won't be around much longer as either would have been great to see add a couple members and go against the hart dynasty and another team or something. I've never been too big on putting teams together for just one match. The canadian stampede in your house was awesome seeing the hart foundation at full strength but the opposing team was such a clusterfuck it didn't look right. Have two STRONG factions built up by bragging rights or SS and then have them go at it and it will be an amazing match even in a PG setting w/o the blood

I really hope it doesn't turn out to be some Smackdown vs. Raw bulls**t, but that is probably what will happen. I loved the War Games. It always had great feuds leading up to it, whether it was some group of guys trying to knock off the Horsemen, or the WCW guys trying to get rid of the nWo.

And as far as factions go, you really need a heel faction to make it work. Face factions were never that popular. All you needed were 4 or 5 guys to join together to combat the evil forces of some faction. And I hope that's the route they go with. Having 4 or 5 face wrestlers (two or three singles stars, and a LEGITIMATE tag team) taking on an evil faction like the S.E.S. would be ideal. It would be a good way to build several feuds over several months, and then have it culminate with a War Games match, preferably at Survivor Series.

So, yes I hope to see a revival of a War Games match, but only if it is done in a good way. I hate to break it to you Vince, but you are the ONLY one who cares about the non-existent, fake rivalry between the two shows that are THE SAME COMPANY.

i like the idea of war games making a return it was a good match and if they use it at bragging rights it would make the big raw vs smackdown match more interesting .
and while they are at it why not bring back the lethal lottery two teams picked at random winners go into a two ring battle royal they could have it so that the winner gets a world/wwe title match at say summerslam as that is one of the bigger ppvs just a thought

What if they did a NXT War Games - might sound crappy right now but imagne if they built up the storyline and have the mentors vs the nxters it could porve to be a magic match.....

(1st post ever so if it sucks too bad!!!)

The WWE needs the WarGames match to draw in some older fans. The beauty of re-introducing the WarGames would be not only to draw in older fans, but to expose younger fans to a match that in my opinion has reached legendary status. Also, it's been a little more than a decade since there has been a true WarGames match in the mainstream, so it's up to the WWE to make new WarGames matches for a new generation. However, the problem is if they modify it from the original format. First off, I don't see the WWE using 2 rings for the match because they want as much ringside seating as possible. Secondly, I see the WWE allowing pinfalls to win the match which was never part of the original format which only allows submission, surrender, or knockout to win the match. However, these modifications shouldn't be much of an issue because these are only minor adjustments to the match which won't take too much away from the team concept of the match which is to use your numbers to your advantage. Anyways, I'm quite curious to see how the WWE will approach the WarGames match; use the original format, or a slight modification to it. All we can do now is wait, guess, and see what happens.

The answer to the question is no, you do not need a stable to make WarGames work. In the past, there have been many WarGames that did not feature a stable on either side. (Examples: Great American Bash 1989; WrestleWar 1992; Fall Brawl 1993; Fall Brawl 1994). Plus, WarGames could be a Smackdown vs. Raw match with some added stipulation to make it more interesting. OR, they can have a Champion team vs. a Challenger team with all of the titles on the line.

I always loved the WARGAMES match from the nwa days and the wcw. But i hope that WWE doesnt do this because wargames was sheer voilence and i dont think the current state of wwe can provide that. I mean look at the hell in a cell ppv.

IF the "great" VKM even thinks of touching War Games he better get rid of this no blood rule and leave the PG era in the past. Also do not change a thing bout the match. That is the problem that VKM has he always tries to make things "better" and alot of the time recently he only been ruining a good thing.

This is the 1st PPV concept that WWE has been talking about that im actually excited about. War Games was always one of my favorite things in WCW. Those matches were always good. WWE would be very smart to use this in the future.

I would love to see War Games in WWE. It is such an entertaining match and so unique as well. Plus, it would be nice to have a WCW match type, or even better as a PPV back for the adult fans who really know their wrestling history, not the kids. When WWE sent out their survery asking fans which PPVs they would like to see, I was hoping so much for War Games to be chosen but sadly Money In The Bank got it.

I like the idea of this coming back. Though I don't think you need one big faction against another. If the rumor is true that Teddy Hart may be coming to WWE that would make the Hart Dynasty a 3 man group, add one more to the SES then pair each with a tag team.
Really, as long as they establish a decent reason of each group fighting together it'll work.
