Back then it was matchmaking with a bit of twists and a small storyline back from WM-WM3 since then storylines took over but its tiresome and it doesn't fit itbuilds the suspense better when you add 2 technical wrestlers to go at it! It is a competitive sport with the fringin titles otherwise it'd be a glorified soap opera fighting for stupidity so thank goodness for the titles

Like I said if he changes the face of wrestling and make it realistic he'll survive or else he'll lose out to UFC competition noone wants to watch fake punching and gay moves in wrestling it has to be real punches and so on and besides Wrestling has titles like UFC does so if wrestling is a competitive sport it should focus more on that less on the glorified soap opera becoz many fans are laughing at Wrestling fans like UFC Fighters mock and humiliate Wrestlers themselves
Already Point Break is a prime example of UFC all submission matches in that PPV and its happening at my hometown not worth watching it I ll go see it at a local bar

WWE attendance has been increasing so I guess a lot of people want to see those "fake punching and gay moves" as you so eloquently put it. Titles are nothing more than to further storylines and wrestlers hold titles because creatives tells them that they are. I don't think Vince cares about who is laughing at him because if he's still running the number one wrestling promotion, those laughs are meaningless.

No. They don't make them a sport. A sport needs legitimate competition. Pro-wrestling is devoid of that.

True. They say "wrestling." But that's a lie. Do you know what a lie is? Telling everyone it's fake isn't going to get anymore buys. But acting as though it is legit just might, especially amongst the younger viewers. But no one above the age of 13 thinks it's fake. Except, apparently, you.

1) Vince is not competing with MMA. Two completely different products and storylines.

2) There's a difference between "BS storylines" and "no storylines at all." I don't want shitty storylines either. But to promote the WWE as a legitimate competition on par with UFC, and wipe the storylines out all together, is a complete misunderstanding of what Pro-wrestling is.

There was a storyline behind Wrestlemania 3, I promise. Every match on that card had a reason behind it. Which is a storyline, just in case you didn't know what a storyline is.

That's because they don't understand what the WWE brings to the table. They either think, as you do, that wrestling is a legit sport. Or they think that since wrestling is fake, the wrestlers can't beat some ass. I'd like to see you go up to John Cena or Triple H and tell them you can kick their ass. Because, you know, they're just pro-wrestlers.

Wrestling has titles as a way to push the story along. No more than that. And to say they need to get more real, like the UFC, is a bastardization of what the WWE offers.

No. They aren't copying UFC. They're simply making the PPVs more distinct from each other. They might have a slight "Oh, let's sorta mimic the UFC" vibe to their decision, but I guarantee you they aren't going to suddenly start shoot fighting or go to the ring without shoes and in MMA shorts. They're pro-wrestlers, and that's what they're there to do.

I thought the WWE wasn't getting any more money from you? Going to the sports bar helps the bar pay for the PPV, which gives the WWE money. The bar has to pay quite a bit, at that.

Isn't the whole point of pro wrestling to try and make what they are doing in the ring seem real or legitimate? Yes the punches may be worked or 'fake' as you say but I don't think the vast majority of wrestling fans have a problem with that....it's called suspending your disbelief and that is what wrestling fans do surely.

Vince is targeting pro wrestling fans and people who want to be entertained, UFC and the WWE are two totally different ball games and should be treated as such. Certainly I don't mind watching the so called 'fake punching' because as a wrestling fan I suspend my disbelief and how are the moves all of a sudden 'gay'?

I love reading the posts but this is making my head hurt. WWE is not wrestling--it's Sport's Entertainment with an emphasis on entertainment. Most of the guys have athletic background (amateur wrestling, basketball, football, track) but their show is stage, the titles mean nothing, and the storylines are scripted. MMA and WWE are separate entities. More every Lesnar and Lashley there is a Mark Jindrak. Not everyone can be sucessful in both. MMA is about combat, WWE is about entertainment. They don't need to be more alike; they need to stay as dissimilar as possible. I'm a fan of both and the two mixing is a terrible idea.
