Veterans vs Newcomers.

RBH

Think before you post.
Jake u can move this wherever if u want or any other mod...but the question I got for all of u is when u are seeing a feud between a veteran (say Undertaker, HHH, HBK) and a newcomer( MVP, Kennedy)...how do you think the victories should be spread out? For example when Orton and Foley feuded, Orton won all of his matches against Foley. But whern Taker feuded with Orton, they each won 2 matches each (Taker at Mania, Armaggedon and Orton at summerslam and No Mercy).....so how should victories be spread? Should a veteran put over or lose to the newcomer in every match of the feud or should it be split? I believe that the newcomer should win first (since he is usually the heel, the vet should win the 2nd and the newcomer should win the final match, assuming that there are 3 matches.) what do you guys think?

It really depends on who the veteran is and what their exact status is in the WWE. If its someone like the Undertaker or Triple H who are still top contenders for the big titles, then I would say they should dominate the feud while still making the newcomer look good. If its someone like an HBK or Foley (who's prominence in the big titles' contention is pretty much non-existant) then the newcomer should be able to dominate the feud.

I believe that it should be split or with a slight advantage to the veteran because if they always lose then beating them loses importance, and thus harms their ablity to put some one over. Now if they are doing this to move someone to championship level then and only then maybe the newcomer should in certain situation dominate.

It depends. If the veterans lose the first matches and the overall majority of the matches in their feuds too many times, they start to look bad and no longer carry the clout they formerly had. However, if they completely dominate, the newcomer doesn't look good either.

I say, in general, unless you're willing to slightly bury someone, then there should be an even record until the last match, with the face going over by just ONE point in the long run. If the newcomer is a face, make it so the newcomer loses the first match, wins the second match by DQ, and cleanly defeats the veteran heel in the final match (especially if its a gimmick). If the newcomer is a heel, make it so the heel wins the first match cleanly, loses the second match via DQ, and then gets defeated cleanly by the face veteran in the third match.

This way, it sort of ends up being 1-1-1, but technically since DQ's do count as wins, the face would have gotten the last laugh at 2-0-1.

But the best situations are when you're willing to suspend the norm and actually bury someone. That way you can have something like, say, MVP beating HHH 3/5 matches cleanly. That way the newcomer looks much better and overall, the point of the feud should be to boost the newcomer, not the veteran.
